So I finally installed the latest version. (thank you again). I knew this would make me lose all my apps. But when I restarted my phone it automatically started installing every app I had on my phone before the upgrade. Anybody have ANY idea what was making it do that? Because after a few of them it started failing out the rest of them and I would LOVE to run that again! It would save me a TON of time.

Also... Scott.... I LOVE the theme and look of the DE version but I wanted this version. Is there an easy way for me to get this version to look as cool as DE?

You have your Google account set to save settings. It is one of the options you check when you first link your Google account.

Yea... that is what I figured. Unfortunately it messed up on about half of them and didn't install them. There does not seem to be a way to run the program again manually. I searched the internet and there are a TON of people asking how to do it... but no answers. I guess I will re-flash this rom and see if I can get it to do it that way.

There's some error with the EVO3D and the market. I don't know what happens, but it thinks you've run out of storage every damn time, no matter what ROM.

My advice? Best you can hope for is AppBrain. You sync up all your apps before you do a full wipe. Then when you install AppBrain again on your new, fresh OS you go to Sync, and then "More Lists" and you'll see your phone there from when you last did a sync. Pick that, and it will show you every app you had prior to doing a wipe. You'll have to click on each one, clicking the Market button on every one, and then installing each individually.. But at least you have a way to get to all the ones you had before.

PITA? Yes. Manual? Yes. But it's better than writing them down.

FYI...you can still go into your apps and scroll down to "uninstalled apps" and they will be there for you. It is manual, but they are still there.

I actually use a program called "Android Sync Manager WiFi" when I do all of this stuff. It backs up EVERYTHING, apps, text messages, etc and it works great. I do a full sync before I flash a new rom and then again after. It's just when I saw them all installing on their own it seemed kind of cool and WAY faster. But it didn't work the second time I tried either so you may be right.

BTW. I installed CleanRom 2.7 on my hboot 1.5 using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17660133&postcount=1877 <--- by far the easiest way. It took me about 10 minutes and I had no problems at all. Wifi works, everything seems perfect! As usual! Thanks Scott!

Could somebody give me a rundown on what "Dim capacitve lighting and always on notification" is? And "screen calibration"?
I Googled it but no luck. They sound cool though! This Rom needs a user manual! lol

You know the capacitative buttons at the bottom? Well, on the stock kernel they're bright as a mofo. If you ever are reading stuff while in bed you'll know what that means because your wife will ask if it's morning. You'll just say "no babe, that's just my phone's lights at the bottom. For some reason they're running at 180,000 lumens"

The always on notification is the little green blinking light. Normally it shuts off after 10 minutes or so but now it's always on until you check things. IMO I actually don't like this because sometimes I check an email on the desktop but the phone doesn't realize it's the same thing, so it keeps blinking until I get something else.

LOL. Well thank you for that entertaining explanation. Honestly though I don't notice a difference on the buttons but I didn't compare either. Is it automatic? Or is there a setting? Either way they look great right now.

Any idea about "screen calibration"?

Don't know enough about this stuff to be sure this is a problem with this Rom but:

I use Handcent SMS and I can no longer send or receive pictures. It hangs at sending and downloading. If I open the stock SMS program they send/receive instantly.

EVO 3D with hboot1.5 Cleanrom 2.7

Hi everyone! Long time Precentral poster and mod over there that just converted to the EVO 3D! I'm loving learning how to personalize android and have rooted my Evo running hBoot 1.4. I want to try out CleanRom 2.7 but have spent an awful lot of time installing and personalizing my apps. I have Titanium backup and was wondering if there are any issues installing CleanRom and then simply restoring from my Titanium backup? Is there anything more that I should know? Should I just restore apps or can I restore apps, system apps, user info etc as well? Thanks for the clarification....

Hi gfunkmagic I used Titanium Backup, then did a complete data/reset (best to start out fresh and scrosler highly recommends it). Once you flash the ROM, you will go through the setup process like you just got a new phone. Once you set up all of your user accounts you will be able to go to the Market and download Titanium Backup and restore your apps. I did this without a problem. Oh, and be sure to do a Nandroid backup. That way, if something does happen to go wrong you can go to recovery and restore your phone back to how it was before you flashed. Good luck!

So, what's the deal with the various init.d scripts that are in 2.7 and 1.2 DE? I noticed in 2.5 there's only zipalign really, but in 2.7 and 1.2DE there's a bunch of "tweaks" that I'm not sure about.

I've been having a lot of issues since going from 2.5 to 2.7, like lag at weird times, SD card slowness, choppy music playback early in a song. I wonder if it's related to it. I've wiped out all the init.d scripts after checking stock and something like CM7 which don't have any of those.. So far, I haven't had any lag or dead presses (hitting home and having it do nothing for 5 seconds, then come around).

Where are these different tweak scripts from, and how do we know the people aren't just trying crazy things that really aren't working all that well?

Ok..so I downloaded the newest market apk and it keeps saying application not installed...any ideas? Also, I keep getting an error when I try to buy an app from the market.

The market app stinks for buying things for whatever reason. We need an older one

The workaround is to buy it through the market in a browser, it works fine there and will install to your device.

I believe the new version of the Market comes with CleanROM 2.7. I did install it prior to CleanROM but I did a complete data /reset before flashing. In both cases I haven't had any problems with updating my apps or downloading new ones. Maybe the apk you downloaded didn't download correctly. You may want to redownload the apk or find the apk of the previous version. For some reason it hasn't been updated on the stock EVO 3D so there could be bugs that haven't been worked out for it that I just haven't run across yet.
