Re: [ROM - Back!] - sROM 1.0a

Yesh scott makes a nice rom !! I loved gRom but hated zvh. Scott, glad to see you supporting you zvd roms again.

Seriously, I was so excited about the update. The Linux folks and Google did their parts, LG and Sprint just had to get their selfish little bits right and our stellar devs would make it fantastic. But no... they couldn't even do that. Much like CM7, gROM is great in spite of the OEM's, not because of them. If they don't intend to use them as anything more than a wrench to get us to buy their competitors' products, LG should really release the source code.

I, too, am glad to see support continuing for great VD ROM"s, but it is a little disappointing that we are back here again.

Re: [ROM - Back!] - sROM 1.0a

I understand and agree. The GB update is not for everyone. Sprint screwed it up. I did the best I could but people kept asking for the old ROMS so I said why not?

Re: [ROM - Back!] - sROM 1.0a

Good stuff!

Actually still having some issues with fast battery drain. Few texts back and forth to wife this morning and 10 minutes of twitter reading on train and already down to 82% after taking off of charger 2 hours ago. Additionally, running superpower with 2 on/13 off for data so I'd think that I should still be in mid-90s at this point.

Anyone else having these issues?

Re: [ROM - Back!] - sROM 1.0a

I ran sROM for a while and I now lose 6-8% an hour with Reborn, but that seems to be because of certain persistent apps/configs that I run (Exchange sync & push, primarily). The battery usage thing only registers this as phone standby. Do you have a solid 3G signal where you are? Nothing kills battery quicker than it searching for better signal. Both ROMs run for days if I turn off the sync, don't use VPN, GPS or wifi and stay in a strong signal area. Just brainstorming...

Thanks for the suggestions. Love the comradery on these boards.

I do have my IMAP pushing but that has been the way I've run the phone since I first bought it over a year ago and was getting exceptional battery life for most of the time I was running Froyo and the 2.2-based ROMs. Just seems to be a new phenomenon since I reverted to VD from VH.

Have solid 4 bars of 3G and don't have the GPS/Wifi/etc. enabled. Background sync is enabled but that was also always on for me in previous ROM installations.

Dialed back O/C to the stock 600mhz and going to reboot a few times to see if it's just a matter of the ROM re-settling. Frankly pretty stumped...

Did you restore any of your apps with titanium backup? Going from gingerbread to froyo with some apps can cause the problems you are reporting .

I would try a clean flash and redownload your apps from the market.

Re: [ROM - Back!] - sROM 1.0a

Yeah I am definitely enjoying ZVD and sROM far more than ZVH/gROM. The ONLY issue I had with ZVH is that my touch screen was sometimes a lil too sensitive. That was never an issue until I called an automated phone line that wants you to enter a bunch of numbers....most of the numbers would enter fine but sometimes I would touch a number and it would enter twice. Well those automated systems don't have a delete so I have to start all over...and the button hits twice again...*loop initiated*. Wanted to throw my phone at the wall but instead figured a downgrade would be more likely to fix the problem lol.

Well, there is also the possibility that the battery is on its last leg. Thats worse case scenario of course but not out of the question.

As suggested I would wipe clean, reload and fresh install apps... Then... I would drain battery to 0% and charge with power off until 100% and let the ROM rebuild the battery stats from there.

Yeah, I can respect that!

That's what I'm going to do tonight. I had it fully charged yesterday and reset the stats, but remembered after Scott said it just now that you need to charge fully then reset the stats then let drain fully, forgot that last step . Hopefully that's the main issue, otherwise replacement battery shouldn't be too hard to come by. Thanks again for the help.

Full charge, reset stats, full drain and full charge. Battery working awesome now. Pulled of charger at 2pm yesterday, still above 50% this morning when woke up.

Thanks so much! Thanks for the ROM. I'm going to flash it tonight. Big thanks for continuing ZVD support! I'm not sold on ZVH yet, so continued ZVD support is very important to me. Cheers to sROM!

scrosler:

Would you mind giving a bit more details on the "performance & battery tweaks" in version 1.2? As you know, sROM 1.0a is my favorite ROM, however it takes me several hours to backup all apps, wipe, flash & then customize the theme.

I'm just wondering (if it were you) if you view this new version as a significant upgrade, or if it's more for people who are currently reverting back to VZD now. (As I did a few weeks ago.)

Thanks--as always! :)

Sorry for the delayed response...

I would say its more of an app upgrade. My general thoughts on updating a ROM are this... If you are happy with what you have and are not OCD like me... Then just keep what you got...

Now... If you are like me and versions numbers are your God... Then upgrade ;)

The tweaks added are minor and or subtle... But... You can always nandroid what you have then dirty flash the ROM and then clear cache and dalvik... And you "should" be fine. No guarantees because, obvious, I dont know what you have installed...

LMK if you need anything....

Hi, FANTASTIC ROM. it's simply beautiful.

I installed it earlier today and used the dark google search/sms/gtalk from the dead roms thread...it looks amazing.

I do have a couple of questions though,: 1) I have root explorer installed but I can't seem to find where the default wallpaper is stored for the rom itself.

I would like to copy your wallpaper to my sdcard so I can play with some live wallpapers (without risking having to nandroid back to get your default wallpaper again).

2) I don't seem to be able to update my profile or PRL, is that normal for this ROM?

Any help with these concerns would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

And thanks again for making such a awesome rom. :)

Any chance you guys will be adding a patch to disable the IQ Agent packground process, such as with the "YOUR MOM" ROM? Don't think I'll ever flash a ROM without that option.

Is there a way to change the battery from numeric to graphical? I changed it over in reborn and now can't seem to find it.

Other than that I really like it! I've been using reborn and am thinking about moving over. sRom seems to boot faster and (I think) has more available storage (did not install all my apps yet).

Thanks,
Mike
