[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

I came from 2.9.2 and went down to DL09, up to EA28 through update.zip, up to ED01 through update.zip, and then flashed Community Rom. This says Voodoo based, but it's listed as just a Rom. I know my Modem is ED01, and I know my Rom is the Community Rom, but what kernel am I running? Is there one actually built in to the Community Rom, and if so, then what is it?

I'm playing around with the built in Voltage App, but I'm wondering if I'm able to change anything. I remember reading about needing an underclocked kernel to be able to actually underclock. Do I need one to flash one of the ED01 kernels from the Themes / Roms / Kernels thread, and if so, which one will allow my changes in the Voltage App to actually be applied? Thanks in advance. I know it's a lot, but if someone could shed some light on this subject for me, it'd really help.

This is covered right in the changelog in the OP. This ROM is using nemesis2all's OTB voodoo kernel that supports voltage control:

Changelog (1.0)
-------------

Voodoo only.
ED01 based.
Debinged entirely, debloated.
Edify compatible.
Awesome kernel from nemesis2all, including voltage control support included in Rom.
Supports accelerometer calibration.
Stay awake options enabled in Development settings.

Well...one SD reformat, one data wipe, a couple of flashes, a full battery, and 4 hours later...
SUCCESS!
Now I didn't [completely] know what I was doing, so thank GOD for this forum. Regardless - I'm running quadrant scores around 1400, so I'm pretty happy. Everything is so quick and clean....I like Voodoo, and I like this ROM.
A sincere thanks.

Thanks Killah. Question though: how do I extract these files? I found the SO file on the droid forums, assuming they're all the same? But if not, I couldn't find how to pull files out of a ROM. Everything else I'm OK with :)

If you open the zip file for a Rom, you'll see there's a system folder in it just like there if on your phone. The directories will be the same as I listed.

mine was running like crap, so i did a factory reset, cleared cache a few times and reinstalled both the rom and the patches. only restored apps and app data, not system data. seems to be more solid so far. i'm not sure i love how dark it is in places like the market, though. it's all a bit monochromatic for me. i'm sure some themes will be along soon. i'd be happy with a stock aosp gingerbread theme, really.

You could always replace /system/app/Vending.apk with a stock one. I didn't like the themed market either, along with a few of the other themed apps packed in this ROM.

So I rom'd this yesterday morning. Since then I've been having pretty (what I consider) serious data connectivity issues. It seems that if you hide signal strength for one that kills your data connection. I tried hiding and un-hiding several times to make sure it wasn't coincidence and I had no data every time it was hidden. I've not had it hidden since I discovered this, but problems still persist. Nearly every time I open an app that needs data connectivity, it errors saying there's no connection. I also can not upload photos to FB. I've wiped cache, power cycled the phone a few times over the past few hours and the problem still persists. Anyone else having issues like this? Sorry if this was covered in a previous post. At work and I don't have time to read all 60 pages lol

Just another experience report, for the benefit of anyone with the same scenario. Nothing new here, but I wanted to lay the steps out clearly in case anybody is as confused as I was initially.

I was running stock OTA ED01 (rooted); I wanted to get rid of Bing, keep the ED01 radio, and stay non-voodoo.

I tried flashing the ROM right on top of ED01, but like others who have tried this, I found that that did not get rid of Bing. Here's what worked:

  1. Back up all apps and system data using Titanium Backup.
  2. Reboot into CWM.
  3. Nandroid backup, just to be on the safe side.
  4. Factory reset to wipe all user data.
  5. Wipe cache partition.
  6. Wipe Dalvik cache.
  7. Install community ROM .zip file.
  8. Disable lagfix.
  9. Reboot.
  10. Restore apps and data using Titanium Backup. I did not restore everything, because that has caused problems for me in the past; I just restored the apps where I had data I needed to keep (like game progress), and reinstalled other apps fresh. The only system data I restored was the Dialer Storage data, so I could recover my SMS history.

Worked beautifully, and so far I'm really liking this ROM. I can't believe this is a Version 1.

How can you change the colors in the sms app? Not bot on the light gray color

If you have not done a factory reset to install this ROM, I highly reccomend it.

I first installed it directly over SC 2.9.2 with just cache/dalvic wipes... and it worked great. However, I decided I wanted to try out the ED01 radio.

So I went back to stock Eclair and got the ED01 radio by following Adrynalyne's post: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...t-ed01-official-froyo-quickly.html#post841769

Flashed CWM ALL 3-30 FIX

Rooted via CWM (following DroidXcon's post: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...-remove-system-apps-other-how.html#post700079)

BE SURE TO USE THE CWM FLASH TO ROOT... I had to go start over because at first I ODIN'd a rooted SC ROM to get root... but, not thinking, I lost the ED01 radio and went back to EB01... DUH!

After that:

- factory Reset/Data Wipe
- flashed the Com ROM
- rebooted
- flashed 1.1 Patch

.... and viola... everything is GREAT!

Battery Life = AWESOME! (9 hours and 20 min unplugged and I have 67% left... that is with GPS on the whole time and moderate to hevay usage)

anyway... just wanted to share me thoughts... thanks again to everyone who helped make this possible!

Could someone help me figure out how to re-install the stock music app to my phone? So far I have tried flashing the stockmusic.zip through recovery and copying the musicplayer.apk file directly to my sd, and have not been able to install it correctly.

Several options. Use a 3rd party sms app such as handcent, go sms, etc. Or flash a theme that will have different colors for the sms. Or grab an older version of the stock sms that will have a different color. Kind of like the Samsung MMS zip file at the bottom of the OP.

Where did you get the .zip and .apk file from? Is this the tw music player or AOSP music player?

Try this...once the .apk file is on the sdcard, locate it and select it.. if your using astro file manager it should give you the option to install..

The data wipe in between steps is what messed you up. Try powering down phone, flash EC01 radio, close ODIN, pull usb cord, reopen ODIN, attach usb cable, flash cwm 3-30, close ODIN, pull usb, put battery back in, hold 3 buttons to boot directly to cwm, wipe cache and dalvik only, flash community rom, enable lag fix before rebooting, reboot.

Landshark,

I'm having the same issues as jrs1035. I'm stuck on the boot screen with FC vibrations. I followed your steps above but still cannot get past the boot screen. Any ideas? I've looked through the entire thread and can't figure out how jrs1035 fixed this.

Thanks!

Any way to get the sms/mms app that was in SC29?
