Any way to get the sms/mms app that was in SC29?
pull the sms.apk out of the SC2.9 file and place it in the system/app file using root explorer or similar program.

Where did you get the .zip and .apk file from? Is this the tw music player or AOSP music player?
Try this...once the .apk file is on the sdcard, locate it and select it.. if your using astro file manager it should give you the option to install..
Landshark,
I'm having the same issues as jrs1035. I'm stuck on the boot screen with FC vibrations. I followed your steps above but still cannot get past the boot screen. Any ideas? I've looked through the entire thread and can't figure out how jrs1035 fixed this.
Thanks!
Welcome to Android Central. Need some info first. What were you coming from? What ROM, kernel, modem? Were you completely stock? If so stock ED01 or EA28? How are you upgrading?
I got the zip file from clockwork. I believe that it's the music player that came stock, out of the box - not sure if that's tw or not. The .apk file I got from the stock eb01 zip that I used previously. The stock sammy player is the only one that works with my car dock!
Thanks for your reply Landshark! I was running 2.9.2 EB01 radio. I then flashed the DL09 package as I thought I would try to get to the ED01 radio. However, after reading this thread, I decided to just flash the EC01 radio and then flash the community ROM. Flashing to DL09 is probably the issue but I'm not sure what to do now. I've got my phone back up and running on 2.9.2 EB01 again. Here is my current setup:
Firmware version: 2.2.1
Baseband: S:i500.04 v. EB01
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: SCH-I500.EB01
I'm fine with the EC01 radio - but i guess the question now is do I have to flash back to DL09 and then EA28 and then ED01?
Thanks so much for your help!

DL09 is Eclair.... me personally would suggest going to EA28 Froyo
here are the steps I took, and they worked great:

The only reason to go through all those steps is to get the ED01 radio. If you don't want that, I would recommend flashing the EC01 radio in ODIN, close ODIN, pull usb cord, reopen ODIN, connect phone, flash CWM-recovery-all-3-30-fix. When done, close ODIN, pull usb cord, put battery in phone, boot directly to cwm by three button press, wipe all three - data, cache, dalvik, flash community ROM and reboot. I was confused helping multiple people when I told jrs the data wipe in between was the problem. Sorry.
"Or just wait for one of my super awesome KANG BANG ODIN packages to come out....then you can flash that in one easy step and you won't have to worry about a thing.."
Landshark left that out of his reply to you .. he's modest..

Ah yes, DXC is the Chef Boy r ODIN.. Regardless, it's great to have your help I"m sure..and looking forward to the Kang Bang ODIN package.. which, getting back on target, would be a great option for anyone who is having issues ....

If you have not done a factory reset to install this ROM, I highly reccomend it.
I first installed it directly over SC 2.9.2 with just cache/dalvic wipes... and it worked great. However, I decided I wanted to try out the ED01 radio.
So I went back to stock Eclair and got the ED01 radio by following Adrynalyne's post: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...t-ed01-official-froyo-quickly.html#post841769
Flashed CWM ALL 3-30 FIX
Rooted via CWM (following DroidXcon's post: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...-remove-system-apps-other-how.html#post700079)
BE SURE TO USE THE CWM FLASH TO ROOT... I had to go start over because at first I ODIN'd a rooted SC ROM to get root... but, not thinking, I lost the ED01 radio and went back to EB01... DUH!
After that:
- factory Reset/Data Wipe
- flashed the Com ROM
- rebooted
- flashed 1.1 Patch
.... and viola... everything is GREAT!
Battery Life = AWESOME! (9 hours and 20 min unplugged and I have 67% left... that is with GPS on the whole time and moderate to hevay usage)
anyway... just wanted to share me thoughts... thanks again to everyone who helped make this possible!
I tried this and cannot seem to get past the boot screen - same issue with the FC vibrations. Should I try to flash DL09 and then EA28 and then ED01? Thanks everyone for your help!
Is anyone else having trouble with apps not showing up in the app drawer? I'm running launcher pro. Just wondering if that has anything to do with it. Thanks in advance. It's SO frustrating!
I really like the looks of this methodology...gonna try it tonite.
Didja want a front Porche of a back Porsche? Aw shewt, I just gave you a "thanks"
