[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

It's either in the water, or the fact the weather can't make up it's darn mind.

Hey Shark, are you still using comavolt with the community rom? If so, how's it been thus far? I was thinking about trying that out as I'm honestly not caring for the kernel that came with the rom, no offence to the creator!

Sorry, no. I flashed the 1.2 patch and kept the OTB kernel so I could familiarize myself with setting the voltage control settings for troubleshooting and question answering purposes. I have always had great results with the ComaVolt kernel, and that seemed to continue for the two days or so I was using it with Comm ROM. Not really long enough for a true test, but seemed to do well.

That's one of the problems of troubleshooting and trying to learn about everything - my phone hasn't been on a solid, stable base of the same setup for a couple weeks now. Sometime this week I should be getting the second Fascinate I bought on Ebay strictly for troubleshooting and making ODIN packages. Once that gets here I can set my phone up how I want it, leave it alone, and enjoy it.

Oh alright, cool. Yeah I feel the same towards Comavolt, it's a great kernel. Think I'm going to give it a shot on the Community Rom tonight and test ride it myself.

Quick question. I'm gonna take the leap and flash this ROM. So far I've heard great stuff about it.

Says Voodoo only. Do I have to do anything to make it Voodoo or does it convert automatically upon flashing?

After flashing 1.0, do I stay in CWM and flash 1.2, or boot up first, then boot back to CWM and flash 1.2?

Just go into voodoo within recovery and make sure lagfix is enabled before you boot up (for most it has been enabling on it's own just fine, but it's best to make sure). flash 1.0 then boot up let it finish everything then you can return to recovery and flash 1.2 :)

Ok, sounds good. Wasn't sure if I had to boot up first or not before flashing 1.2. I know in most cases it makes a huge difference whether you do or not. Thanks!

Yeah, in this case you definitely need to let 1.0 boot up completely first. You'll know voodoo is enabled when the screen that says "android" is up and you here the android female voice saying things from time to time. It will take a good 5 minutes or more on average before you actually get to the homescreen. Just bear with it :)

I know the waiting sucks...I'm as impatient as they come haha. I'm new to Voodoo. I've actually never used it before (just never had the urge to) but have read about it and it seems fairly easy and I catch on pretty quick.

Yeah, in my experience it's pretty nice. Just be sure not to flash a nonvoodoo kernel while voodoo'd. You should notice things running a bit quicker and smoother once you've really played around with it :) If you have any problems or questions you know we're all here to help! Good luck!

Thanks a ton. I've never been to a forum that's so....nice haha. Seriously, a lot of forums out there, members included, can be very uptight and rude/mean/etc.

Files are done downloading. I shall return later with results! :D

Yes, this forum is by far the best I've been to as well. And I'm proud to be a member here. I think it's amazing how well this community upholds respect for each other and will do whatever they can to help. And it was my pleasure to be of assistance I hope it all works out for you!

question, if i take the apps and framework folders from the community rom final (1.1/1.2) zip and put them in a seperate zip file, would they flash/install find thru cwm? reason i ask is b/c im thinking of flashing/checking out a few themes which change apps and the framework-res/twframework-res apk files and in the event i dont like them i want to be able to go back to what the comm rom has.

thanks

Anybody flash a different kernel on this? If so which one?

Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk

I flashed times_infinity's ComaVolt voodoo kernel and had no problems. I always had great success with that kernel, so I flashed it during the testing so Adrynalyne and the crew could have some feedback on what different kernels may work with the ROM.

+1 for Comavolt

it's always played well with my phone, the OTB one included in the CommRom didn't so I went back to the tried and true one

Does anyone else use Better Keyboards? My girlfriend has used it back on SC and it worked fine... now that she is on ComROM it doesnt work it FCs as soon as you select it. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if they got around it?
