[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

Right in the changelog in the OP:

Changelog (1.0)
-------------

Voodoo only.
ED01 based.
Debinged entirely, debloated.
Edify compatible.
Awesome kernel from nemesis2all, including voltage control support included in Rom.
Supports accelerometer calibration.
Stay awake options enabled in Development settings.

Nemesis2all's OTB voodoo kernel v1.2

If you haven't flashed a different kernel since flashing the 1.2 patch for Comm ROM, this is the kernel you are running. If you have flashed a different kernel since and don't remember which you flashed, there really isn't a way to check which one you are running. Your kernel version will be the same for any of the available kernels right now.

Sharky... you should know by now I can't read! :p

I did flash another kernel initially (CommaVolt) but then I reloaded Comm Rom over it as it was not working good for me with this setup. I should mention it did work nicely with SC2.9.2.

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm still trying to play with the voltage settings myself and figure out what works. ComaVolt was great for me on SC, but maybe since nemesis2all was part of the design team on Comm ROM his kernel may work better. Everyone will just have to find the right voltage settings that work for their own phone.

Putting out a question for anyone I'm on com rom 1.2 i take a picture then a second and my phone will freeze right on the pic screen with the focus rectangle to tap but it will not come back from there after waiting 10-15 min I pulled batt and reboot 3 times now it happened once the first time I had com rom I put on a theme and wanted com back so did a complete factory reset wipe and cache/dalvik then reflash com rom 1.0 then 1.2 had the freeze happen twice since not sure why it is the camera thats with the rom no alterations besides the voltage settings for the past 2 months that run super smooth my settings are in the voltage post if u wanna know them thanks for any help

T3, this is interesting. I haven't seen to many people with camera problems. Mine seems to work ok. Have you tried reverting your voltage settings back to stock then trying the camera? May be worth a try..

It's not the voltage settings. Check out this thread to see if anything in there helps

Question- & I apologize if it's already been asked but 123 pages is a whole lotta reading!

Completely stock running 2.2
Do I need to root first to install this or do I install using Odin & I'm good to go

Well, after a day of trying, I wouldn't try it doing it. I have had the same result with all swype.apk's I've tried. If someone knows more about this please clue us in.

I have tried copy and pasting using Root Explorer the swype.apk from the following sources:

Edo1.zip (debloated/deodexed Adry)
SC2.9.2
NitroDark 4.2.1

All resulted in a functional gb and samusng keypad, but a force close loop from enabling swype.

I have also tried the AxT9IME.apk from sc2.9.2 and that didn't do a thing at all.

I have also tried clearing cache's, wiping swype data in applications etc.. to no avail.

I have also tried deleting the swype.apk from the system/app folder then moving the new swype.apk of the respective source into the system/app folder

Any ideas peoples? What am I missing..or is it impossible..

Alright friends, after some digging around, I have found a fix for this and have moved the swype.apk from my wife's stock ED01, and a theme (NitroDark4.2.1 to my ComRom and it's fully functional now, with no FC loop.

Here's what you'll need.

Root Explorer v 2.15 (must have the newest version of Root Explorer)

the libSwypeCore.co file and directions found here:

[APPS] Swype Themed Updated - xda-developers

swype.apk from whatever theme or Rom you like. ( I was succesful with stock ED01 swype.apk, and the theme NitroDark swype.apk. (which is very gnarly I might add)

Steps:

Download or extract from .zip file the swype.apk of your choice and move to sdcard (I rename it while storing on sdcard to keep them straight...i.e...swypeND.apk)

Download the libSwypeCore.co file (link above) and move it to system/lib and paste it there with Root Explorer

Un-name your new flavor of swype.apk (if you renamed it) and long press and select copy (make sure the file is name swype.apk when you copy it or this won't work)

scroll over to the system/app folder and paste the swype.apk there. (Agree to overwrite existing)

Once it's pasted, scroll down to swype.apk, and long press.

Scroll all the way to the bottom and select CHANGE OWNER

Change both options to 0 ROOT

Hit OK

Long press on the swype.apk again and select Permissions from the menu

make sure there are check's in all the READ column and the first box of the WRITE column .thats all a TOTAL of 4 checks

hit ok, and make sure the Swype.apk has this underneath: rw-r--r--

if it does, back out of root explorer and give it a try ( I can't guarantee with all swype.apk's but I used two from two different theme's/ ROM and it worked for both. Try at your own risk.)

good luck !

PS if a mod wants to move this that's fine, I know it's off topic of ED01, I'll try to get Jaekar to post on his thread if he's comfortable doing so. If not I'll start a thread. :) Sorry Adry!

It is recommend by the Developer to wipe data/factory reset in Clockwork Recovery after flashing this ROM to get all features to work appropriately. This will wipe all your contacts/apps/sms/mms/call logs etc.. so make sure your prepared for that.

ODIN packages are right around the corner for this ROM, but if you can't wait you can install via CWM..

Some other additions to what advice you've been given so far,

To my knowledge and experience, If you boot your phone all the way after flashing CWM 3-30 in ODIN the stock ED01 kernel on your phone will overwrite CWM 3-30 and it won't be there when you three button push, so after you ODIN the CWM three button push directly to get to CWM 3-30. Don't reboot your phone, until after you flash the ROM.

Another nice feature of flashing this ROM is, unlike I once thought as well, you don't have to enable lagfix. Flashing the ROM and rebooting all the way will convert you to vooodoo automatically!

Good luck friend!

ok, i flashed CWM, after installing battery the phone automatically restarts into blue recovery. How do I get into Red CWM? What am I doing wrong?

nevermind
installing rom now

Sorry, yes I just reread and looked into it... My bad. It is a full rom, but I assume just clearing the cache's and flashing like you would a patch would work just fine if you are already on comm rom.

For those already on Comm ROM, I would imagine they should be ok with just a wipe of cache and dalvik. Any problems after flashing though will probably require full wipe.

Yeah I agree with you there.

On a side note... I'm not sure if Adrynalyne isn't quite done editing the OP, but what I'm unsure about is if this 1.3 version includes the changes in 1.1 and 1.2 or if you'd still have to flash a patch... I'm guessing it includes the patch contents within 1.3, but still a good question to avoid confusion.
