[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

You should have heard a robot voice talking on the first boot.

boot to Recovery
use your down volume key to scroll down to Voodoo and press the power button
In white writing you'll see something that says something to the effect of

Voodoo lagfix is actually: enabled
next boot: enabled

Options:

/system lagfix conversion: yes
debug mode: no

Should be pretty self explanatory from there. If it doesn't say enabled it will say disabled.

If it does say enabled your good to go.

Just use the settings soft key, to go back to the main Recovery menu and select reboot system now with the power button.

Okay, I've done that and every time is says it is disabled, next boot:enabled, but it doesn't seem any different when I reboot. Am I doing something wrong?

If you didn't hear the voice during the first boot you didn't convert.

I would scroll down to enable lagfix (red writing) and press the power button..to enable it then reboot.. if it still doesn't take, then I would head over to gm thread on voodoo and post your question there...he's got far more answers on Voodoo than I. : )

Since we're on the topic of voodoo, I'll throw my queries out there:

After reading gunnermike53's thread, I know what to do when installing this ROM, but I don't know what voodoo really is. Also, is there anything I actually need to do once I have the ROM installed and voodoo enabled? Or is it something that runs in the background with no maintenance? I'm still on 2.9.2, and I'm looking forward to making the switch over the weekend.

From Gm's thread

Voodoo is a kernel replacement. Our phones use a proprietary RFS file system built as a legacy FAT, adding indexing and POSIX permission on the internal 2gb memory. There is nothing wrong with RFS, but it’s slow. From what I understand it indexes everything. This takes time, causing lag. Voodoo reformats the internal SD card with standard Linux EXT4. EXT4 is a faster. This filing system is what is reffered to as the lag fix.

..Once enabled you just leave it alone. Just stay away from NON-VOODOO kernels or ROMS with nonvoodoo kernels included in the flash from this point out. Make sure all your downloads for kernels and ROM's are Voodoo. Unless you disable voodoo and reboot your phone..to go back to non-voodoo.

There are some improvements to sound and the screen, but as far as Com Rom is concerned there is nothing else you need to do. If you decide to try to tweak some settings with Voodoo you'd be safe in gunnermike's hands over on his thread :)

Good luck!

going voodoo with kb is super easy. you just flash and....and...and thats it. you just flash the rom wait 5 minutes, and now you have a super fast rom with voodoo. you dont have to enable anything. and as lttlwing16 stated dont flash anything nonvoodoo and you will be fine.

So I'm loving the ROM so far, and I decided to try the Swype theme shown in the original post. But I'm not really a big fan of it. How do I undo it, or even go back to the stock Swype theme? I was dumb and didn't make a backup before I applied the theme.

To get back to swype included in KB, boot to recovery wipe your cache's then reflash the rom in cwm.

Hey, still not sending text in my sms messages. Anyone else having this issue?

Sorry if these 'bugs' have already been stated, but I have read through some of this thread and haven't seen them. Any advice is appreciated!

1. Pressing the volume-down button wakes the phone from sleep. Previously, only the power button could do that. It is pretty annoying, since the volume button sticks out farther and is more easily pressed... especially in my pocket!

2. If I need to change the volume during a phone call, I used to just manipulate the volume rocker switch up or down while the phone was against my ear. Since the flash to CommRom the volume-down switch works with the phone pressed to my ear during a call, but the volume-up button does nothing until I pull the phone away from my ear... then it will allow me to raise the volume. Again, very annoying.

3. I would really like it if the 'soft key' buttons would stay lit for as long as my phone is active. My current active time is 1 minute and the soft keys go out after only about 15 seconds or less... Would love it if they would stay on for as long as the phone is in an active state (not sleeping). Anything I can do to fix that?

There are a few others, but I'll save those for another post later.

As for your first question, that was one of the additions to the community rom, the volume rocker can wake the phone like the power button does. There's no settings that can change this, probably something that would be done within a root explorer. Someone with more knowledge in that matter may be able to assist you further.

The 2nd question I am unsure on, haven't had that problem myself, nor heard any complaints about something like that. Might be something where wiping cache's and reflashing the rom could fix it.

Your 3rd question, again don't know of any settings to change that, nor have I heard anything about changing it. In my experiences, whether completely stock or using a custom rom, they have always timed out in the same amount of time.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, hopefully someone else has more insight into your questions.

Thanks Ghost. 1 down, 2 to go. Progress! :)

No problem, you might think about talking to Adrynalyne about those questions. He'd be the go to guy if he's available. Otherwise someone else is bound to have knowledge about it and hopefully reply here :)

Edit: The soft key question... I think I just remembered something about them, I believe VZW had changed something about when/how long they light up in one of their updates a while back. And I don't believe they allow you to change it with any internal settings (at least the settings accessible to us through the settings menu)

man, I've also looked the AC forums looking for an answer for you, and spent some time on my phone looking...I did find this bit of info on XDA Car dock with official froyo - xda-developers. you might give that a try , and sorry I couldn't help you out. If you come up with an answer let us know. :)

Bingo! downloading that was the key, works like a champ and now. i appreciate the help, i had literaly tried everything and was about at wits end with this thing.

Awesome. Glad you got it working, and glad I could help!

What did you download to get it working...for future reference... did you just use Car Cradle in the desk dock?

Since installing the 1.2 patch I now have the "sent from Samsung mobile" signature in my emails. Can't get rid of it. I have signature I want used in settings but doesn't work?Has anybody posted a fix did a search can't find one.
