[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

I installed 1.3 today and so far so good except for a small boot animation problem I posted about in the themes thread.

I like the new swype look, but not the "TSM" written across the keyboard. What does TSM stand for? Someone's initials? I'm all for giving credit when due... but since this is a community ROM and not just a theme it would be nice if TSM wasn't on there.

The green letters in the swype word chooser is a bit hard to read as well...

check out that thread. Shows you how to change the theme for Swype. I changed mine yesterday.

Okay, so 1.3 was up and running pretty well. I started getting random FCs from different programs once in a while. Not enough to be a big deal or keep software from beginning again, but I like things running perfectly. When I did the upgrade to 1.3 I wiped cache and davlik cache before installing the ROM but didn't do the wipe data/factory reset before or after.

So I just went to CWM, cleared the caches, did a data/factory reset, then installed the rom. After installing the rom I wiped the caches again and did another data/factory reset then rebooted. The phone appears to be working fine so now I'll restore my data, fix the clock to white and do more tweaking. If all goes well I'll reinstall my theme (Crysis) and see how things go this time.

I think that covers pretty much all the steps for minimizing piddly little errors here and there, doesn't it?

P.S. With regard to reloading apps with data (not system data) what Tom Petty said was correct: the waiting is the hardest part!

Did you try *228 option 1 and 2 after flashing the new ROM?

Did you clear you cache and wipe data/factory reset after flashing the ROM?

Thanks for the input! I would just *228 opt 1 and 2, and reset your bstats according to protocol and you should be good!

Personal opinion and observation, but it seems that most people who have problems, not all, failed to wipe data/factory reset AFTER flashing this rom. This is a dev recommendation and as evidenced by your post, it helps.

I'll be making the jump tonight, and plan on wiping data/factory reset.. will report how it goes.

I use Titanium Backup Pro for most backups but this week am trying MyBackup also. I used MyBackup to do the bookmarks, contacts, and calendar. TiBu does everything but I figured having a duplicate might be a good idea just in case.

So far after finally getting everything restored and adding the browser patch things seem fine. I ran the phone setup and it restored (or synced) my contacts but instead of putting the last name in the last name field and the first in the first, it put both in the last name. I cleared all the contacts out (synced with GMail, which had no contacts in it) and restored with MyBackup. When MyBackup was finished restoring them it said to reboot to see everything correctly.

Anyway, that's been my excitement this evening.

I rebooted and the contacts were empty so I'm trying it again. Hopefully it will work, otherwise I can import them from the other backup I have (multiples pay off).

Use MyBackup to backup and restore everything BUT contacts, go into contacts, export to SD card, then after you wipe everything, import them from the SD card. It's much easier/faster/less crashy

The instructions say to do a data/factory reset... Won't that delete ask of my apps and info saved on my phone??

Which is why you do it right after you flash the rom but before you restore everything. Do a good backup then wipe, then restore. Presto

Glad your up and running!!

Just for future reference, some of the senior guru's on here suggest just exporting your contacts to the sdcard directly using contacts--settings-- ..then importing them when you update...might be something you just add as another backup!

EDIT: had to water the lawn..sorry wyllic didn't see your post..adding the same bit of info

No prob man, better too much info than too little!

I have sprinklers that do that for me =) but stupid MyBackup Pro can't seem to "find" my backup even tho I can see it in root explorer... sigh

Yeah, I had that backup as well. Next time I need one I'll try that one first.

After clearing caches I installed the theme. Rebooted, then went into recovery, cleared cached again, then installed a new boot animation.

I know people don't need a blow by blow account of what I did but maybe it will help others. :)

That's a bummer..Hoping I don't hit the same snag..I may download TIbu and do a double backup just in case. I hate downloading all the apps again..

Its bad enough resetting all the album art, and getting the contacts, and calendar back to the way I want it..hoping that 1.3 is worth the data wipe..

I didn't afterwards coming from 1.2 I had gps issues so I figured why not.

I have MyBackup looking at the right folder but it says there's no backup there

EDIT: Fixed, just had to add the rerware folder and put everything inside it. Could have made the directions a little clearer but ok

My obsession with multiple backups and options has a base in reality. :p

My initial reaction to 1.3 is "very nice" Still a lot to do..but so far so good..Camera crapped out first go around, but it rebooted itself and worked the second time.. no biggie...wonder how you go back to this awesome deep, deep black wallpaper and background after you change it...I remember with 1.2 I couldn't find how to reset the background to the stock darkness..
