ok, how? when i long press on the file on my SD card i want to copy into the system/app folder and select copy, it pops up 'preparing to copy, then i go to the system/app folder but dont see any how to paste it/move it/copy it there?

ahh... i see what you did...

ok... the long press is ok... instead, try this...

select the file you want to move (just tap to select, don't long press)

tap the "scissors" icon at the bottom to cut it

go to the file folder you want to put it in

tap the clipboard icon to paste it

That should work just fine

those weren't the instructions for you....

thank you for your help. apparently its just not meant to be. followed the steps and when i taped the clipboard something flashed on up and gone so i guessed it work but to no aval. what i did end up doing was taking the message_patch.zip from post 1 and replacing the mms.apk file with one from a theme i had downloaded (but not installed) and was able to change it that way. i can not for the life of me get a file manger to work right and i dont know why

the problem is the SC29/SC292 files are not that simple. as sharky answered in one of my prev posts the apps are in a factory.rfs file that you copy into your system/apps folder. i just dont know how you get them out of there after that.

As I said in my instructions, you need the ZIP of the rom (one you'd use to install in cwm), not a .tar file (that Odin uses). They are plainly located in system/app in the zip.

just wants to say Thank You to everyone that gave advice/suggestions to help me change out mms.apk files. i d/l the super_frankenclean_2_9_2v.zip file and took the mms.apk file out of it and put it into the message_patch.zip and installed it thru cwm to get it to work.

now i just need to figure out the market lol

I am very excited that, because of you, I realized how ridiculously easy it is to extract .apk files and apply them to the ComRom.

Got my screen capture.
Got my android keyboard back <3.

I don't think I could ask for anything else. My baseband is still EB01, but I don't want to deal with the whole backup/install trouble. I'm not sure, exactly, how to restore with Titanium and it's not that big of a deal to me at this time. Perhaps down the road.

I couldn't be happier with this build or this community of support.

the factoryfs.rfs file is the entire rom, not just the sms app

i installed explorer (free version of root explorer) and when i try to move/paste the vending apk it says there is not enough room?
