[ROM][5/23/12][4.0.4][AXI0M] CROSSBREED and PATIENT ZERO

Re: [ROM][5/4/12][4.0.4][AXI0M] CROSSBREED and PATIENT ZERO

2defmouze, are you currently using this ROM? I used to be on codename because you and some other people I saw frequently supported it. But seems like his thread went cold. Looking to switch to another ROM, just can't decide which. I don't like updating my ROM too often just because of the time it takes to do so.

Codename quit the game, hence the dead thread, lol...

Yeah I'm running Patient Zero M2.5 right now. Love it.. though not everyone will love the UI stuff th3ory does... What I would recommend is really AOKP, I just woke up so I don't even know yet if they got b36 up last night I know they were trying to but go for it anyways.

What Th3ory has now that started last night are these conversion packs he's making for like every ROM, lol, that you can flash after you've set up your ROM and it will give you all his AXI0M goodies, i.e. speed tweaks and init.d scripts, beats audio, sony bravia engine, tons of more stuff. Here's his thread with the info for that, just read the OP and see what I'm talking about: ROM| ROM MORPHR | AXI0M | FOR ALL ROMS | - GALAXY NEXUS - droidHIVE Forums

Yeah so let me know if you got any more questions :)

thanks for the advice! when you say UI stuff, you mean the launcher or just general UI elements that are common throughout the whole OS? I use Nova anyhow.

Yeah I'm going with AOKP.. though I might flash something else for a brief time just to play with and be a crackflasher, lol... but I'm sure I'm going with AOKP for the long-haul.

Th3ory's UI stuff would be blacked out menu gradients (as opposed to the black-grey gradient you see more stock), more blue system text, his softkeys (which are easy enough to change if you want), non-transparent notification pull down, probably some more I can't think of... I'll post a screenshot or 2 in a sec to give you an idea. I mostly like what he's done but some people don't. With AOKP there's enough themes and bits and pieces out there that I can recreate the parts I like anyway, like the blacked out settings and menus and stuff..

Re: [ROM][5/4/12][4.0.4][AXI0M] CROSSBREED and PATIENT ZERO

2defmouze, thanks for all the advice! I think I will go the route your suggested.
I have 4.0.4 radio already installed form long time back. Do I need to upgrade that before installing AKOP?
So I need to do a full backup, full wipe, install AOKP, reboot, then clear my cache & dalvik, flash the AXIOM goodies on top, and that's it?
I hope the battery percentage display without a background image like in codename is available. I really liked how clean that looked.

Almost..lol....
Make a backup
Wipe data/factory reset
Under Mounts and Storage.. Format /system (not NECESSARY but good practice)
Flash AOKP
Flash Gapps (DON'T FORGET THE GAPPS!! lol... make sure they're the latest 4/29 ones. Find them toward the bottom of the aokp download page or here: Google Apps - RootzWiki)
Reboot, set up the ROM, do all your stuff.
Back to recovery, flash the MORPHR package... no need to wipe anything, th3ory's built in script handles it all for you.
Reboot.
Profit.

Think that should cover it :)

EDIT: Oh you asked about the radios.. if you have the latest you are fine.. under about phone should be the FC04/FC05 ones... if not grab them from this site and flash them first, (or whenever, doesn't matter, do them in their own recovery session. No need to wipe) The last thing on the list that says IMM76K RADIOS and BOOTLOADER: http://rombot.droidhive.com/ROMs/toro/

Re: [ROM][5/4/12][4.0.4][AXI0M] CROSSBREED and PATIENT ZERO

Thanks man! I almost forgot about wiping /system.
I just updated my radio, Turned out I had an older version of some sort.
And thanks for the Google Apps tips, I got the 4/29 one that you specified.

So for the AOKP ROM, should I go for the last Milestone5 or Build36? I'm guessing milestones are more stable than the builds? I usually wait a day or so before I install a new version to make sure there aren't any major issues right off the bat.

AOKP's roms are never really unstable; the nightlies usually incorporate new features, while the Milestones are for all intents and purposes "merges" of the added features that work.

Re: [ROM][5/4/12][4.0.4][AXI0M] CROSSBREED and PATIENT ZERO

Thanks to both of you guys. Gonna try it in a bit. Backing up everything now! I agree 2def, 2 weeks is too old haha.

One issue I had with Codename and previous ROMs, which was very annoying, when I restore my setting for lightflow, the sounds I have selected for each app would never restore properly. I read in some forums it was because the files for the sounds were slightly different, can't remember exactly.
Not sure if either of you use Light Flow or had an issue with that.

Also for the Kernal, do I need to install any other ones afterwards? Should I just use SetCPU to create whatever profiles I want? The only profile I use really is interactivex so that 1 core is turned off when the screen is off, and throttling it down to 350mhz.

Aokp comes with faux's kernel so if you want anything else just flash on your own afterwards. I stick with franco personally.
EDIT: oh and I've never had issues with lightflow but I don't set sounds with it... However that makes sense as some roms include slightly different sound files.

awesome, is this one different than the one you gave me earlier?

If the one you saw earlier didn't have the "2" in it, its different, lol. This one has some edits that may have caused problems in the earlier one. I'm using it over AOKP b36 now and everything works just fine.

M3 was just pushed to rombot. It's missing the UI but everything else is there.
