Paul, is there any way to get to EC05 without having to odin back to EB13? Can I simply flash the modem in odin and still keep my ACE load? BTW, where do you get the modem file? I kept seeing reference to it in the Bonsai thread.

The EC05 modem is available at Bonsai's new site. Click on the source link in the Bonsai thread.

Official EC05? Yes you will have to Odin back to EB13 at this point to receive the update which hasn't been confirmed by anyone yet.

Running the EC05 modem on ACE probably isn't going to do you much good.

Ok, thanks. was not sure of the new modem offered up any new enhancements. I'll hold off for the time being.

I wanna try the modem too, but I'm waiting for more clarification that it will be worth it before I try and flash the thing.

@SVX: every time I see a post from you it makes me wanna go buy a Subaru lol.

I read a few posts over at XDA that the modem was offering better upload/download speeds. This was literally a few hours into everyone getting the modem release from Bonsai.

Yeah I know you mentioned that, but I don't wanna go flashing it into eb13/SRF until I know for sure I'll benefit from it. I'm kinda leery about flashing in something intended for a different Android build.

That's with it sitting on my desk, untouched, while I work and use my office phone. IF I use it (say for Grooveshark), I plug it in. Without plugging it in and it sitting idle, that's the numbers.

Oh well, I was hoping some of the numbers some were quoting would soon by mine. I may uninstall Juice Defender -- thanks to all who suggested that.
Will report back after a few days of checking it out.
What about other options to back up ACE withOUT using CWM3? I'm just not sure what else is out there to back it up.

I hear ya. I use a Set CPU profile to set my screen off speed to the minumin with conservative scaling. I listen to a lot of podcasts and audio books so my phone is churning most of the day. On the weekends when I don't use it very often, I've had it go the entire time. Unplugged saturday morning, recharge sunday night. I do use juice defender with the default settings.

I just came to peace with the fact that I didn't just buy a phone. I bought a mobile entertainment device that happens to allow me to call people. I realized that if I was to stay completely absorbed with the battery life, I should just sell it and get a feature phone. There's no point in trying to compare diesel and rocket fuel. One performs and the other lasts.

Hope this helps to ease concerns and get you back to enjoying the "phone" :D

i am waiting for the official ec05 to hit our site.. deodexed and ext4. i screwed up my phone and im gonna just run with the rom i have on it now and wait till the smoke settles from ec05 before i customize anything again. im still upset... my nandroid backup got screwed up and i had deleted all but the 2 most current. meaning i lost everything. ::sigh:: lost the system.img somehow. oh well. cant wait to boot this up on ec05 :)

Paul will you be releasing another GREAT ACE rom based off EC05 (whenever its released) perhaps with NCIQ?!

im playing with a rom for now that does not have swype. if i just drop the swype.apk in my cwm zip and flash it.. will that restore it? or do i need additional libraries or somethin to make it work????

I have endured the initial wounds of rooting by loosing all my contacts, wont happen again.. I saved pics, but not contacts prior to rooting (my bad). But I did save the contacts with Titanium Backup but when re- applying Contacts 2.1 the app showed up in the app drawer but no contacts came with it. Now I have two questions.

1.) when I started resincing my contacts it appears that I now have two contacts and it wants me to join them so I guess I can get rid of that contact app from prior right?

2.) When running CWM originally prior to installing ACE Rom CWM said it was making a backup or a recovery file. Could my contacts still be in there somewhere? If not no big. That's just part of learning curve.. I found MyBackupRoot, and I don't think I'll have this problem again. Thanks!

Love the ROM!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) THANKS!!!

Is SetCPU a valid app for ACE Rom ROM?

how did you loose your contacts? no google account? (they back up instantly with google account).

setcpu works great. need it to overclock if you are using a kernel that lets you do so.

Update 3/22/11:

I'm sorry to say at this time I will be putting further development on hold. I'm not saying for sure if I'm done but at this time due to EC05 being released and waiting to see what new things develop its only fair to let users of ACE ROM know that I need time to weigh my options. I still encourage new users to give ACE a test drive as its proven itself to be a very stable ROM producing little or no FC's or real issues for the user. For the current users of ACE, thank you for your support and use of ACE. I will still be here on the AC forums and depending on how things work out I may continue development in the near future.

One last gift to you all before I'm done at this time... Something I was saving for the next release but I can always come up with something new if that time comes..

ACE Themed Wallpaper & Status/Notification Bar w/stock battery meter w/1% gauge (Flash in CWM 3.0.0.6)

Enjoy, its built into the AMLauncher wallpaper and also has the ACE ROM themed notification bar.

Fully understandable. I do hope that after things settle a bit with EC05 that you give it another go. ACE is a fantastic ROM and you did great work on it.

Are you are referring to a standard gmail account you're asked to set-up your phone. Or do you have to change your existing email to gmail in order for this to sinc. I do have a gmail account that I needed to acces for forgetting and resetting my password, and gmail is set-up as an account to sinc regularly, but no contacts migrated over when I resigned into this account. What would I need to do for this to happen in the future? I know it's a newbie question, but thank you everyone for your patience and expertize in this forum..

Do I need to delete the Contact app that I re-installed so I don't have two contact sections? Because that's what it appears. Or do I just keep joining??

Also, Thank you to Paul for this ROM, again!

Q. Will the new Vipor SenErgY Rom flash directly on the current ACE Ext4CWM platform. If I wanted to try that one out too?

I wonder how many phones some of you have. You keep installing a ROM here and there to test it out. But by that measure, if I do that how do I manage to keep all my settings and apps? I realize that a few backup programs will do some of that, but as often as Paul and Rag seem to redefine their system it seems like you'd have to have one phone that you actively use for daily purposes and one phone that you use to make sure a ROM loads correctly.
I'm still on TER 1.5 using GO EX Launcher and I love it - but I've been watching the ACE ROM come out and now with EC05 (what a shock this is - having two upgrades in a 30 day period) I wonder if it's better to keep up with my TER before waiting for ACE 2.0 to be released.

LOL.. Not really.. I don't keep alot of personal data in my phone so "test driving" ROMs is not a big deal. I don't use alot of apps so really I can flash and fully install "manually" all my stuff back in about 15-20 minutes and I'm done.

I will admit this latest ROM I'm running Baked Snack 2.1 with the Honeycomb Fusion 1.1 Theme is very nice and I may hold onto it for awhile before changing. I'm waiting on CM7 to hit Alpha 2 or I will start playing around with some EC05 ROMs or personal builds once things get moving more with EC05. I have already ran Bonsai v4.0.0 for a few hours, its nice no complaints.
