Great looking rom! Unfortunately for me though, there are a lot of freezes, roughly 3 minutes into usage, which result in a battery pullout. The home keys seem to stay lit but the haptic feedback is not there. I thought it might have been the twilight kernal because the same thing happens when I try to flash syndicate but after flashing the vision kernal with ace, the freezing still persists :/ Really want to use this rom but I don't know what to do...I've tried reflashing the rom many times, starting back from stock using odin, wiping data, cache, dalvic, etc...anyone have any suggestions? Help would be greatly appreciated :)

Also, the VisionKernel is BASED on Twilight, meaning that aside from a few performance tweaks and some extreme overclocking potential, it IS Twilight. If you are having freezing issues, give the Genocide kernel a shot. I had freezing issues with Genocide kernel when I undervolted at all (despite being able to undervolt fairly extreme under midnight rom), so I switched back to Twilight which has been a rock- it may be the opposite for you. Some devices just work better with other kernels. Mine seems to like Twilight..

Alternatively, you can also try the Bonsai kernel (you would have to extract from the Bonsai or Midnight ROM I believe), or you could even try a stock EC05 kernel for the time being. You could even try the Baked Snack kernel, but you would have to pay $5 to access his forums (or circumvent the process by consulting Google), and after installing you would need to run the one-click-root process to gain Superuser access again. Good luck..

Let me know how this works for you, as I have also been getting the freezing issues, same as you.

Will do. Right when I get home from work :)

Yea I think that might be the case because I'm currently running Bonsai 4.0.1 and having no freeze issues. If the problem persists after I re-download, odin to stock, and re-flash ace, then I'll give genocide and the other kernals a shot. Will update once I do. Thanks again

Added an optional ACE ROM v2.0 stock theme battery mod. See 2nd post for download link & preview screenshot.

Same exact look, just changed to a different battery mod.

Midnight has an RFS version. Also, I had issue with Odin and the one click root recognizing my phone, I switched from an XP computer to ones running Vista and Windows 7 and they finally worked. And on the first try too.

I've had the phone connected up all 3 and never really had a problem. Now getting ADB to connect, on the other hand, was interesting to say the least... ;)

it does not recognize it im desperate at this point

First piece of advice, take a break from fervently switching screens and reading furiously through the threads. We've all been there and after spending hours of being pissed off and frustrated, walked away from the computer for 20 minutes only to come back and find the process right away once mentally chilled. The list is long and experience is earned through trying things.

Try a different usb port, make sure you downloaded and installed the drivers for you phone. My system will sometimes acknowledge the device as phone and others simply as a mass storage device (with adb debug off). Either way, once I get the system seeing something, the OneClickRootCWM3 run.bat works.

As for Odin, it's been my experience that if I disconnect the phone after odin sees it, I have to close Odin and reopen it...

Take you're time, after the first few it's a process that can be done in your sleep! :)

oh i hate his rom with all that autism things hes tryna force on people. but ill have no choice to install it to see if i can install CWM3 from his rom and bounce asap

You hate that ROM because he's promoting autism awareness?

Maybe you can try my up and coming ROM, but I will try to force on you cancer awareness.

For people like you, there's always stock.

Paul627g, are you sure you dont have a memory leak in the primary theme?? I have rebooted the phone a few times with the Android guy theme and my free RAM was consistently around 160MB before using things (I use Android Assistant to kill excess tasks just as a test- I dont use task killers).

After installing the flashable theme (battery icon), I immediately gained 40MB of free RAM, where my widget is now reporting 204MB free! Did you change anything else or does the primary have a memory leak? I havent changed ANYTHING else..

Actually there is about exactly a 40 mb different in size between the ROM's framework and the modded one I did.. Same exact framework files so it must be the difference in the pngs used for the battery mod. Different colors, shapes=less memory used.
Could be the animation graphic files for the battery mod that is making the big difference also...
Thats the only difference my friend.

You're a real jerk, you know that?
The Midnight ROM is one of the most well known and stable ROMs in the Epic community. Rob has done something unique and repectable with Midnight. He has promoted awareness of something that 1 in every 100 kids is now born with. With the Midnight,(which is of high-quality and not to mention FREE) the deal is that you get to download a great custom ROM, which has a TON of time put into it,and you don't need to sign up for anything or even spare a cent. ALL he ASKS(not requires),is that you take a minute to just LOOK at his blog while the ROM downloads. That's it man. He doesn't make you sign in his site to check in or something, every time you download a new version. You could do the crappy, selfish thing,(which you will) and not even look around the blog, past the development page. You can just click the download link, let it fly, play some mindless video game why you're waiting, and he'd never even know. To say that he is in ANY way trying to FORCE anything on anyone is a gross overstatement, and its really rude. If you even bothered to read his blog, you would know that what this man and his family go through in the course of one day, is enough pressure to make even the strongest people drop to their knees. He does this ROM to educate the individuals such as yourself how widespread autism is,and how it effects peoples lives . A little knowledge couldn't kill you. Might make you a better person. The only other autism thing is the stock wallpaper, which you can change anytime you'd like. Are you afraid your corneas will catch on fire and burn your poor eyes, because you saw a wallpaper that said "autism awareness" for less than ten seconds? He does not work for you, you don't pay him, and you don't even do the minimum he asks, but yet you get something free anyways. Id say that nothing is be forced.. Its a shame you don't just glance at his blog. Austism is something that is FORCED on newborn babies every single day-more and more of them every year. One day you might have your own child, if you don't have one already. He'll come out of the womb, into the world, you'll take one look at him, and he'll instantly be your best friend. You'll fall in love with him, only to find out after a matter of time, that nature has forced a cruel disorder on him-one which will make every day of the rest of his life a painful struggle, and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. But you'll be willing to do whatever it takes to help him- even if it means you create something for free, that "forces" harmless knowlege on others who don't know how good they have it.
Just a thought bro-I'm not perfect either

Ah, I should have noticed that by looking into it further.. Hey, thats a cool benefit of flashing the new battery mod :D Ram has always been a little short on the Epic, and its always nice to gain 40MB :)

Flashed genocide kernal and so far so good! Hopefully it'll keep up! Thanks again GSF and thanks Paul for the awesome rom!

No prob. Hopefully the Genocide will work for you, different kernels for different devices... Sounds weird but it works.

flashed ACE 2.0 yesterday afternoon, and i'm loving it so far! no issues, noticeable battery improvement, seems like a winner to me. much obliged paul!

Quick question. I'm currently on ACE 1.7. So that means EB13. What is the best way for me to get to EC05? Do I just flash the eb13-ec05.zip file and then the ACE 2.0 rom and that's it?

Just doing a nadroid backup now before doing anything.

Sorry if this question has been answered, too many threads to go through.

Thanks for getting this done Paul, I look forward to using ACE Rom 2.0 :)

See the installation instructions Dave in the OP... You will just need to flash the EC05 modem I have listed and then you can flash ACE ROM v2.0

Easy as that my friend... Welcome back to ACE...

The only issue Im having is due to me using a different mms.apk- for some reason I get that 9016 voicemail text message whenever a voicemail is left. If I block the text message, my phone never gets the voicemail.. Any ideas on what might be causing this Paul? The AOSP mms.apk has worked flawlessly otherwise..

If I were you, I would try the samsung software update tool available on their website to try and get it back to stock. If that doesn't work, I would desperately try to figure out a way to get a stock eb13 or ec05 on there and take it in under warranty..

theres no way i can go back to stock if the phone is not recognized by the computer. im stuck :((

Please everyone let's try and keep our personal opinions of others beliefs and what they stand for to ourselves. We really don't need the flaming to start, I would really hate to see a moderator come along and close this thread because some fighting started among users/visitors. I'm only an Adviser here at AC, if a mod decides to do something I have no say or control over it.

Has anyone had an issue with the power button while using the phone? I can turn the screen on and off but when I try to long press the power button, the phone freezes and it looks like it does a fast reboot. I'm not sure what could be causing this. I've wiped 3x and reinstalled Ace 2.0 but it still happens.
