So I customized this rom to my liking!

I found Genocide kernel gives a MUCH MUCH better fluidity and smoothness to the rom. I'm running 100/1120 ondemand. Maybe you can switch twilight out for genocide in the next release?

I picked Twilight Zone because it does work well and it falls under one of those "set it and forget it" kernels making it easy for any experienced level user. Genocide is a nice kernel too but does fall under the more advanced user to really take full advantage of what it offers so that is why I opted to go the route I did. So I give you my choice but do make it known your welcome to flash whatever kernel you want. I do encourage people to try different things, that is what makes all this fun.

agreed. nicely put!

I have the setcpu_2.11a.zip file (I think from using it on ACE 1.7) but for some reason it just won't zip on ACE 2. Do we need a different version of this in order to set the kernel options for Twilight 1.04?

You could always try downloading a new copy from the Twilight Zone thread at XDA. Link is in the original post here under features for ACE v2.0

You can also use Overclock Widget (free) from the Market.

Paul,

I saw this in the general, but because this person is running ACE I thought I’d bring it here since I’m seeing the same issues.
I’m using a launcher that allows be to have in the app dwr a list of currently running apps. There seemed to be a lot of apps running in the back ground, things I did not open or were not related to widgets I had running. I also use of a task manager that shows all running apps and memory availability.. After killing these open apps they persistently keep opening up. Even “hotspot”, “Places” and many more that I never even use. So I went and put on startup manager, and specified the items I wanted open upon startup and it did, but then continued on to open whatever it wanted to as well. I understand apps that support widgets that are running, or even apps that need to sinc up from time to time. However, apps just keep turning on and in a seemingly random way. Since the person who started this issue was running ACE, but had got this under control on ACS.. I’m curious if this is someway related to the ACE Rom? If I could whoop this problem my battery would surely increase. Upon killing the background tasks, and then 10 minute of idle time, I might get 20 apps pop-up as running.. Any advice would be helpful

Is there anyway to enable Ads in the browser with this rom? I own several websites I need to check daily for their ads. I havent rooted my phone yet but I want to make sure when I do I can have the ability to check the ads.

Let me know

I don't know of a particular way to single out a specific app to only show ads. Since I have the Ad Blocking Host file baked into the ROM it blocks out ads from everything that displays ads on your device.

The only way to counter this is to installed Ad Free from the Market and then select REVERT. This will remove the ad blocking from everything.

I did some research on this and the file it is modifying is one that just happens to be involved in CIQ removal. After reading the thread in which this is described in I don't see any mentioning of CIQ removal being implemented in this framework.jar file that mkasick modified to include this option. He did mention that the TWS bug fix is included but nothing about CIQ removal so I would say that flashing this mod would break the CIQ removal. I'm not sure if it would have a bad effect in a way of causing FC's or something, but it would be breaking one of the files modified by k0nane of ACS.

I'm sure in k0nane's next release of Syndicate he will have these "CIQ removal files" updated to include this which then he turns around and distributes for devs to use in their ROMs. Once that is/if available I will pass an update on to all of you.

@maxxed and anyone else,

I don't mind considering and implementing this mods/patches to the ROM but just to give you all a brief rundown. Many of these mods/patches like TWS bug fix/Reboot Mod/Full Battery Pop Up Kill/CIQ Removal and others all share in the same file(s). The two main files used for all these is either

framework.jar
services.jar

So basically any time one of these patches or mods comes along while they are excellent it also involves repacking these two files to include all the previous patches/mods but also incorporate the new which can't be done by a simple flash. When possible I will include these things. Right now all listed above are included in ACE v2.0.

Just wanted to let everyone know what is behind this stuff when it comes along, so you know its not just a simple flash update and done. On your end yes, once the file is modified it can be a simple flash but on the devs end it takes some modifying which isn't always the easiest to accomplish. That is why many devs do look up to people like k0nane which are "more advanced" and accomplished in doing these tasks and then passing it down to the rest of the devs to use.

Just wanted to say thanks again Paul.

I've had no issues and wonderful speed with your ROM and Genocide kernel.

I've flirted with other ROMs, but everybody else has some random, inconvenient problem and almost no advantages.

+2 on genocide kernel (though I mentioned it before).

With my undervolt settings, ive managed 26 hours on, 2 hr 15 mins screen time, and I was at 12% battery. This is with a LOT of text messages, which I use the keyboard for. Id say its tied for first for best ever battery on my phone, and its the most stable (plus journaled rom!) setup yet. I havent had a single freeze..

Genocide Kernel is working well for me as well. I'm just now starting to play with undervolting to see how much my Epic can take.

Guys, can anyone using a 2.2 ROM and playing with undervolting on the Genocide kernel tell me how far you've gone with stable results. I don't have a good concept of how much a typical kernel is undervolted stock... ie baked snack or something like that... are they -50? -75? Right now I'm at -25 and no I can go lower, but don't want too push to far too fast...

Thanks

Is anyone else having problems with the video cam feature?

What kernal are you using? I know Twilight v1.04 has issues with the camera not working.

When you're working with setting the UV, you'll want to use something like CPU spy https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bvalosek.cpuspy&feature=search_result to figure out what processor speeds are going to be the ones you want to focus on tweaking the voltages. Right now, mine are all between -25 and -75.

This looks like a good tool to see the time the processor spends at each freq. Do you want to start undervolting the higher percentages or the lower percentages?? Right now my settings are -50 from the 1.2 setting I'm using as max, all the way down to 400. Then a bit lower for 200 & 100. But would be nice to get the maximum tweak.. Thanks!

JD- thanks for the CPU spy tip. Just started messing with it and it looks pretty useful- my phone hovers at 400 and barely hits 1300 at all. I mainly lightly surf and texted today. Don't have any games.

Ive installed twice and it keeps rebooting. New to this, followed the install video and the actual instal part goes well. Phone boots up fine. I keep getting reboots almost everytime i do something. Download from market, changing settings on phone, accessing Titanium (not even getting to restoring just accessing it). Tried pulling the battery, made no difference.

As I said new to this, Is there something I am missing? Is there something else I should be flashing with it?

Making a third attempt now.
