ROM ALERT: Baked Snack v1.6 [update6]

hey guys i was wondering, when we change the kernels, we can just install from zip in clockworkmod right? and then i will overwrite the other kernel

What is APPS2SD about and is it mandatory to install? Does the ROM install it automatically?

Nevermind I installed it and there was no market app in the rom so I couldn't reinstall titanium or mybackup bro :/

This last post may be pertinent to my question as well. I wanted to load this ROM but I actually like the "bloatware". I prefer sprint navigation, I like the tv and nfl app and absolutely require mobile hotspot. So will I be able to reload these from titanium and have em work after the new ROM wipes them?

Im sure you can find the sprint bloatware on xda but I was kinda surprised the rom had no market so Im back to Syndicate Rom for now, woulda been nice to see how good the BS 1.6 Battery life is

The guy who did Baked Snack was banned from XDA because he didn’t release some code or something like that. I don’t know how XDA works and what’s required to post Roms there, but that’s why you can’t find it from there.

As for 1.6, you can get it and the various kernels from his site (www.bakedsnack.com). I have 1.6 and the Ultimate Kernel, which is awesome for battery life. It easily lasts me over 24 hours with fairly moderate usage.

However, is it like KingOx said there is no market with BS? I just tried loading the kernel only and ended up in eternal boot up. Therefore did a factory reset, rerooted, reloaded the apps I wanted to reload from Titanium and am finally ready to try again (shiver) Yeah ready to try again.

Factory reset thru Odin took like fifty tries(exageration) and numerous connect/reconnect/reboot/connect/try again/OMG/try agains. I actually was trying to remember where my insurance paperwork was for the phone cuz I was sure it was down for the count this time!

But I would like to try BS if I can have the things back on that I want. So is anyone sure that after installing it I can reload the bloatware and have it work on this ROM cuz it isnt worth trying for me if I cant have the apps I want. I've got chargers everywhere anyway :)

Baked Snack does come with the Market (I'm running v1.6 right now).

You have to make sure to wipe using Clockwork before installing the ROM - so there is no point in restoring your apps before flashing. The dev of this ROM actually advises against using Titanium Backup, which is why I always manually reinstall everything for best results.

As far as other bloatware, there are zips floating around XDA that you should be able to use.

this is the developer. you could most likely find an addon pack from a rom on xda. i would find it for you but im banned from xda lol. also i see some of you are trying to use mixup kernel. i have seen his code and i know for fact that battery is better on my kernels. also speed is faster too

I'm using the ultimate kernel as well and it is really amazing... thing is though. If it doesn't work on all phones, does that mean it can mess up your phone over time because it is too undervolted?

I also restored my apps from clockworkmod, the phone works like a charm. I was wondering though, is that something i shouldn't be doing?

thanks

ps. If possible, can anybody post more detail about app2sd? Do we just download it from the market and go from there or is there much more to it then that. I did read some time ago that you needed to reformat your sdcard and set partitions. is that true?

Hey Hero, welcome to our forum! I keep this thread as update to date as possible and offer as much technical support as I can. But I hope you will stop by every so often and answer the questions that I can't (like the above post).

Also let me know if there is anything you'd like to add to the first post of this thread.

you should not need to reroot after doing a factory reset.

You should just flash a new kernel over that rom and you probably wouldve been fine. It has to do with the overclocking of the kernel

EDIT: MEANT TO SAY UNDERVOLTING OF KERNEL

I wiped using clockwork, did the factory reset, wiped dalvik cache 3x and then installed BS 1.6 and there was no market in there and I also noticed the boot screen was now a mixture of the syndicate one and the bs one lol! What the heck?

are you sure you wiped correctly? You have to complete wipe 3 times... to be safe. I do the complete and the cache 3 times each just to make sure.

Also makes sure you flash the kernels in a row, i did workforall ( the one that comes it orginally), step2 , then ultimate.

when i went straight to ultimate, because i knew it worked, it didn't work lol. So i had to redo everything from scratch, and flashed the kernels in a row. Now i have both ultimate and v1.6. Also, don't forget to calibrate your battery!

its because team syndicates kernel code makes it stick no matter what rom you flash. You actually need to download the kernel from hero over and then flash it.

If you go into about phone - under build number itll say "xtreme kernel"

as for the market thing, you mustve messed up big time somewhere because everyone else has a market, im pretty sure the dev made sure to have that hahaa

but try flashing the kernel and it might come back

The kernel will not mess up the phone from undervolting. Overclocking can have negative affect due to increased voltage used on basically all other kernels. But on step 2 and ultimate kernels you are running stock volts or less!

As for apps 2 sd. If you go on my site you will find instructions in the epic download section. Yes you have to reformat sd

Lmao I did all the stuff you mentioned so who knows, I'll try it again over the weekend, I just hate re installing all my apps

Wow...I went straight to Ultimate and aside from it freezing a couple of times during Angry Birds, I haven't had any problems at all. Maybe I'll try flashing the kernels in a row later to see if it's more stable, but I am very stable now having gone straight to ultimate. And not sure that I want to mess with the awesome battery life I am getting.
