Re: Battery Life= Teribble on AOKP 21

Oh haha I see. Well my kernel is using 18% of power. Is that normal? Its at the very top of the list of app power consumption.

My kernel (also Franco 15.2) has used 6% of my battery, but I haven't used my phone that much today. You could always try re-flashing the kernel if it's bugging you. It wont hurt anything, only take a few minutes, and all you need to wipe are cache and dalvik.

Re: Battery Life= Teribble on AOKP 21

To the op,

I have been on the 15 series of franco and battery life for me was subpar. It didn't heat up like you said but for me, I get the best battery on 14.4. I have heard it said that no 2 phones run exactly alike on any given setup. Franco has stated in his thread to set cpu max at 1200 and min to 700. I undervolt by 25mv each setting and I get decent life.

If you want to try his earlier kernels, I threw 14.4 and 13.1 on my dropbox. Been stated in his thread 13.1 was a hallmark kernel is why I keep it around.

franco 13.1 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54417549/Francokernel-13.1.zip
franco 14.4 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54417549/Francokernel-14.4.zip

AOKP M3 dialer troubles

I'm having a problem with the new milestone 3. My dialer is not working in responding to telephone prompts. I'll call my VM and I can't enter my password, for some reason it isn't recognizing the keys I'm hitting.

Also I did a fresh install exactly like the from installation stated and still have had this problem. I also have a long pause between telling the phone to dial a number and it starting, I'm talking about a 10 second delay or more. Has anyone else had this happen?

When Im stating I have a pause I don't mean signal strength waiting for it to connect I mean my browser or whatever will still be up and running and then it will come up.

Re: AOKP M3 dialer troubles

Nope, nothing yet I'm still running the stock kernel that comes with it. I haven't even flashed a theme. The small changes like circle battery have all been changed from the rom control under settings.

Hm. i havent heard of any bugs like this - only dialer bug i can think of has to do with using dialer in landscape mode.

Have you tried a search of the aokp threads at xda or rootzwiki where you might get some hits or a fix for this bug?

my only suggestion would be to download the aokp rom file again, check md5 to make sure it's complete, then restore back to a nandroid where the dialer works, wipe data cache and dalvik all 2-3 times each, and flash again.

EDIT:
You might want to check this out - its not directly on point for your issue but theres a chance it could help.

My take on those battery monitoring Widgets won't help unless you have a rogue app eating battery and you need to find which it is. As I don't use a lot of apps, or dl apps i m not going to use, I don't bother with those kinds of monitoring apps bc they run constantly in the background and can actually Cause battery drain.

Milestone 3 is like a stable release of aokp, whereas the builds ate like nightlies: the builds might have new features that aren't worked out yet, etc. The milestones mark relatively stable points in the evolution of the rom. Plus, m3 is newer than b21, so it should be "better".

Do I need to do a full wipe when switching from B21 to M3? Also, do I re-download the gapps zip and flash that again as well. I just downloaded M3 and want to flash it.

I did a full wipe when going from #21 to Milestone 3 just to make sure of no issues.
It didnt take that much longer to reset everything back up for me.

Plus, the OP instructions say that a full wipe is recommended.

The Gapps zip where the same in the Builds list as they where in the Milestones list.
I checked the M5 number as well as the date and they matched up

I had some issues with M3, so I flashed a similar version from a diferent mirror and now those issues are gone. So if you have random issues with your ROM, that's my recommendation while still doing a full wipe.

Yeah the only issue I see is my battery monitor icon not showing after trying to change it. Are you saying I need to find another mirror and re-flash the ROM in hopes to fix that. That kinda sucks...

I am still running #21. Has anyone run into the issue of the input option missing while typing in text?
Whenever you clicked on a text box to type, a little keyboard icon used to show up in the notification bar. If you selected it from the dropdown menu, it would let you choose a keyboard or google voice input. I am not sure if it was present on the last ROM or not.
Does anyone know of any setting to get this back? If you are running Swiftkey, you can't select the Google voice which does dictation, just the one that deciphers after one sentence.

This setting can be found under Setting > ROM Control > General UI > Show IME Switcher.

I'm not sure about what happens when you use Swiftkey since I don't use that keyboard.

I've never seen a keyboard shortcut in the nav bar. Been using aokp roms with stock keys for weeks.

Maybe long press the text box. That worked on gb.

Thanks. That did the trick. I never knew what that setting did before.

When you long press, you only get an option to paste. Voice input does not work the same with the voice input option in SwiftKey.

b22 is good, not much different.

i was going to wait until 4.04 source comes out and we get a build off that, but was up late anyway so i just flashed it.

i haven't tried cna yet but i figure there's not a whole lot of difference.
