[ROM][AOSP][10/31][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

Re: [ROM][ICS][AOSP] 4.04 Bugless Beast CDMA Galaxy Nexus - 4/3/1

I ran BB on OG Droid and on my Xoom currently. My GNex is unlocked, rooted and running the leaked 4.0.4 OTA. Everything is backed up with Titanium Backup. Getting the itch to make the jump to BB on my GNex and I have a few questions.

Will I lose the 4.0.4 radios by flashing BB? What is the best way to restore my apps+data using Titanium (I've never actually used it after flashing a ROM)? How should I prep Google Wallet before flashing and then restore it after flashing the ROM? Any other tips or tricks you may have?

I told myself I'd leave my GNex mostly stock but Pete has made his ROM just too tempting with all his little tweaks.

No, unless otherwise stated, no rom replaces/touches your radios. They will be fine regardless if you're on this, CM, AOKP, etc.

I don't believe you need to do anything with Google Wallet. It should just work.

I do a backup in titanium and then just do a batch restore of the apps i want back when the new ROM is in place.
I also UNCHECK the box that says to restore items after you setup the new ROM. It's unnecessary because it just redownloads them all from the market (yes, i'm not calling it play) and I need to wait for that to finish before I can run titanium.

Also, make sure you wipe data cache obviously.

Good luck.

How is the battery life on this rom? I am currently on axiom crossbreed with the latest stable Franco kernel and 4.0.4 radio and getting pretty good battery. I'm looking to try out a few different rooms before settling on one. Any feedback? Thanks

Do you keep a copy of Titanium's apk to side load after flashing the ROM or redownload it from the market?

yeah i just redownload it and the pro key too.

I also backup the titanium backups to Box for when I forget that re-locking and unlocking the phone wipes everything, including the SD card

I think battery life is pretty good at least compared to other ROMs for the LTE Galaxy Nexus. The GSM version gets roughly double the battery life.

No matter how you cut it, improved battery life is always at the expense of something. There isn't any magic a ROM can do to give you dramatic gains, using your phone drains the battery. The screen is by far the biggest drain followed by LTE. A ROM can't do much about that but enabled the ability to turn off the LTE when you want to.

I subscribe to the charge all time method of getting good battery. I have 4 chargers around the house, 1 in each car and 2 rechargeable usb power packs along with an extra battery. Now I can have my phone scaled up so its fast, the screen can be as bright as I want, LTE can be on all the time and I never have to worry about the battery.

I get about 8 hours out of the battery with moderate usage, it's an extended battery though.

Re: [ROM][ICS][AOSP] 4.04 Bugless Beast CDMA Galaxy Nexus - 4/3/1

This rom is plain jane and I am ok with that. It is smooth and I get great battery life.
I don't know what the changelog is but this latest version my signal has gone a bit south for some stretches, but it comes back right away.

I loved Codename and wish some customization was included in BB, but BB just flat out works. No lag etc.

Side note: Everytime I flash a rom I have to set up all my google email accts. I thought that once the primary was set the others would be restored via TB. Thoughts? That's the only PITA about flashing...

Has anyone tried using Google Wallet? I was at shop the other day that accepted Google Wallet as a payment form, so I tried it with the prepaid card but the worker said that it didn't go through. Has anyone else tried using it?

you should only have to re setup your Google accounts if you wipe data and cache which generally you only need to do if you are jumping to a different rom.

I tried the other day and got an rfid collision error on the kiosk.... Thought it was just me...

Side note 4/5 build is up

Re: [ROM][ICS][AOSP] 4.04 Bugless Beast CDMA Galaxy Nexus - 4/5/1

it looks like the 4/5 build has some new kernel stuff in it, the new gmail and street apps and some fixes that broke the ability to play drm content in some cases.

I have always used Franco's kernel, what do you think about Pete's? Have you been running it with his ROM?

Right now I prefer Franco's but that's mostly because until recently the stock bugless kernel wasn't really modified. I believe Pete really only started focusing on kernel stuff this week based on some of his Twitter chatter and the github changes.

On previous devices I have preferred Pete's kernels just because they seem to work so well with his ROM. I'm assuming the same will be true with the GNex too.

If I'm upgrading from Bugless Beast 4.03 to Bugless Beast 4.04, can I just wipe cache and dalvik? Or do I need to wipe everything/complete data wipe?

latest 4/6 nightly has more DRM fixes so you can play things from places like Google Play Videos.

thanks pete!

Re: [ROM][ICS][AOSP] 4.04 Bugless Beast CDMA Galaxy Nexus - 4/6/1

All,

Thanks for your help. I finally had time to concentrate on flashing this ROM today. I was unlocked and rooted with a stock recovery and the leaked 4.0.4 OTA. I took some screenshots of my desktop and then downloaded ROM Manager and Pete's latest nightly. Did a full backup with Titanium and SMS Backup & Restore. Installed the latest CWM Recovery via ROM Manager and then flashed the ROM doing a Nandroid and performing both wipe functions. It took me a minute to figure out how to stop the Play Store from downloading all my apps when I signed in to download Titanium. Restored all user apps+data and SMS messages. Then all I had to do was restore my desktop Widgets. It took me about 30 minutes altogether after downloading everything.

Re: [ROM][ICS][AOSP] 4.04 Bugless Beast CDMA Galaxy Nexus - 4/6/1

I can't download apps from Google Play after flashing the 4/6 build (Error processing purchase). Anyone else experience this and know how to fix it?

I have not seen that but I know in the latest 4/9 build there was some stuff in Pete's github feed that indicated he changed the market version I think. You may want to try the 4/9 build and see if that fixes it.

Reminder guys, Pete doesn't check this thread for support stuff. In an effort to make sure he's getting all the feedback that he needs to make this ROM even better, please post issues over in the RootzWiki thread.
