[ROM][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.5.5 [Full Open Source]

Everything is working for me except my phone won't vibrate when it is set to only vibrate. Does anybody have any ideas?

The torch option doesn't seem to work for me, but maybe i'm doing it wrong. When the screen is off, I press and hold the power button, but all that happens is that the screen turns on - no torch.

It works for me sometimes ,but sometimes doesnt not a big deal for me .
But if you want to make sure the setting is turned on its : Settings>Interface>Lockscreen settings>Lock screen, make sure that option is ticked .

Have you checked in Settings> sound>silent mode that vibrate is ticked ?

Edit : also make sure if meaning SmS too ,,that in your SmS settings that it is ticked to vibrate when silent

HELP! Please!

Today I downloaded Wug's Unlock & Root toolkit and proceeded to unlock and root my phone. Before I did that, I used the backup tool to do two backups of my stock phone.. a full backup, and the other backup in the utility that's only supposed to be restored over the same ROM that it came from (I thought it was a full backup of my personal data but without certain system backups).

Then, I went to install Codename Android 1.4. But rather than do a CWM backup, I figured I would just restore the backup I had just done in the Wug utility (a mistake, it would seem). The restore worked for pretty much all of my applications (except Swype which I reinstalled), but it did not restore any of my contacts. And the Verizon backup assistant is gone. I have all my contacts backed up with Verizon, and I would like to restore them.

Worst case scenario, I flash back to stock and restore from the full backup I did using the Wug utility, but I'd rather not do that.

Any suggestions? How can I get the VZW backup back?

Think I figured it out. It works if I turn the screen off from an unlocked screen but not f a locked screen. Which is contradictory since it's in the locked screen settings.

If you're able to get into recovery (reboot into CWM recovery), I'd just re-flash the codename ROM (don't forget to flash the gapps afterwards) and run with that. It's an awesome, like stock but a smoother and faster ROM that will leave you wanting nothing else. Do a FULL DATA WIPE before you flash and just rebuild your phone/apps. In the future, get Titanium (if you don't have it) and use that to restore any apps that don't auto restore from flashing an update, as well as any app data that you want to restore. Just DON'T restore any system data from Titanium. System data and a ROM update don't play well together. You might want to try Nova launcher as well. Google it and you'll find a dowload link on xda's web site. It functions like a stock launcher with soem nice extra's if you want to use them. It also has a backup feature that backs up all your home screens so you don't have to manually do it when you flash something new. Between Nova and Titanium, I can now flash a new ROM/upgrade and have my phone set up like it was in about 30 minutes.

Forgot...You need to get the gapps from here: http://goo-inside.me/apps/codename/gapps-ics-404-020516.zip

The ones on the Rootz site for codename are incomplete (missing some google apps)

On CNA 1.4. Market won't open. keep getting Server error Retry. Any ideas?

Try going into settings>apps, find the Market and clear data.

If that doesn't fix it, you're probably going to have to re-flash the gapps. The original gapps file was missing some of the google apps. Here's a link to the full gapps file: http://goo-inside.me/apps/codename/gapps-ics-404-020516.zip

Unfortunately, I recommend you do a full data wipe for this. If you don't want to, you could try just flashing it, but you may end up with issues.

Did a restore. I think the theme I flashed caused the problem. But thanks for the quick response.

This new version is horrible. I've had to pull my battery 4 times since I installed it on the day it was released. I am going back to Gummy tonight.

Thanks. Yes I can get to CWM..the phone is working great and I love this ROM, but what I'd really like is to be able to get my contacts back without going to all the trouble. Is there really no way to get VZW Backup back on my phone without going back to stock? Surely one of you cracker jack developers can pull this itty bitty app out of something and post a link :). I'll make it worth your while with a small donation..

Also, I installed the gapps "gapps_ics_404_160212.zip" right along with the ROM as per the instructions... however I didn't get any Google apps on my phone except for GMail. I had to re-download Google maps from the app store. Where are the rest of them? I see the gapps file I installed is different from the one you pasted. I got mine from the other website where this ROM was originally posted.

Gapps packages are constantly evolving for technical and legal reasons. Good explanation found here: Android Open Kang Project - toro - build 24 - RootzWiki - Page 935

Regarding your contacts.. you should migrate them over to your main google account so you won't have to worry about verzion BA ever again.

Log in to myverizon's website from your computer, find the online backup assistant (I remember it being tricky to find but its there).. Select all your contacts, export as a .CSV file. Then from your google account, import the .CSV file. You'll probably have to spend a short time editing them to make it all look nice and correct, but once your done those contacts will appear on your phone automatically every time you wipe and install a fresh ROM or anything.

That's just what I needed, thanks! The option to export in VZW backup online does not appear until you've selected something. After selecting I had no trouble exporting to a .csv file and importing into Gmail. Now I've got all my contacts back.

Another question..can I now flash updated gapps files without wiping the phone? Or is a wipe always required. I'm not sure I need to flash another gapps file.. my phone is in a good place now.. I've got Google maps and Gmail, so I think I'm pretty well set.

Yeah, anytime you want to flash gapps you really need to do a full wipe and reflash the ROM first, so if you're comfortably set up now and don't need anything I would just hold off until the next update :)

You've probably already switch back to Gummy, but I think you're in a very small group if your having to battery pull on codename's latest version. Actually, I've heard of no one else having that level of trouble. If you want to try it again (or haven't changed to Gummy yet), I'd suggest a full wipe and re-flash. Something must have gotten screwed up the first time you flashed it. It's the most stable, fastest ROM I've run so far.

I'd suggest upping the kernel voltage settings a tick before even doing anything that aggressive.. But I didn't suggest it because I didnt like his attitude.

I cannot stand 1.4.0....I may roll back.
Battery life is worse, TB FCs, actually a lot of apps FC after fresh installing of the apps.
I appreciate the efforts, but think that the build up to this release was just like the Nexus release :)

I may abandon ship, haven't decided yet.

Side note, using nova launcher, I am using a theme that makes the circles for grouped icons transparent but if you update from v13/14, they go away...I guess the developer would have to update their Nova theme no?
