Would like to know anyone else's experience with the newest releases on an optimus s phone. I am considering switching to this ROM for fun later in the week when I have time and just curious if its close to being reliable on the Sprint phones now. :D

Best bet is to follow the thread on XDA. Right now, it looks like there are bluetooth, audio and camera issues.

i had messaging issues earlier with the latest release but its probably just me lol

Nope, AFAIK messaging has never worked on the Optimus S with this rom. I use GoSMS which recognizes that the default messenger app is missing and takes over all functions. Much nicer than the stock app aswell.

As for bluetooth/camera/audio issues, I haven't had any to speak of yet.

Are you able to use a Bluetooth headset with this one without static issues?

Same here, I don't even know if SMS actually came with this ROM.

EDIT: Also, I have a bluetooth headset and USB adapter at home. I'll try them out when I get home.

BILLYY!! WATUP!!!, and no it didnt come with it bro, but i freaking love this rom. its so amazing i meant this is the leanest version of cm7 i have ever seen, and the stablest. i really cant say ive ever had issues and like the guy who posted above i use gosms too in its options theres a "set as stock sms" option, and i mean hell it even has MMS custom retrieve settings its so awesome, but back to the rom. i am oc'ed at the highest setting and never crash, i know this could cost me later but idc. i really gotta say, im keeping this rom, forever. :D

Got the rom and got it working. Well... kinda...
I have a few issues. It still says virgin mobile and I can't send/receive mms messages. I tried flashing both of the ov to sprint files and still no luck.... anyone have an idea what's going on? I have the most recent release.

You must've not flashed the conversion to sprint properly:
[ROM][WIP][ALPHA] aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.4 / CM7+ (Gingerbread) - Page 42 - xda-developers

Before flashing:
Format all 4 partitions under Mounts and Storage (Boot, Cache, Data and System).

Order to flash:
AOSP Rom
aospCMod-OV-to-sprint-signed.zip
Gapps
OV-to-sprint-20110403-signed.zip

Note: It is recommended that you use the Xionia Recovery, I had problems with other recoveries when trying to install and was told to use Xionia which fixed my issues.

Also, this rom doesn't come with the default mms app so you need to download something like GoSMS off the market.

I don't use bluetooth headsets so I can't give any info regarding that, but plain headphones are A-OK.

Hey guys

I flashed the newest optimus v rom (05-16) booted it up and was showing updated so i rebooted into recovery and flashed the conversion and booted back up and its seems to have reverted the update because it dropped me back down to android 2.3.3. And has a march date on the rom under details.

Im coming from and hd2 so this is a little different im very experienced in working with phones but this is a new one to me.

The conversion edits your build.prop so it changes your version, but you really are on the most updated version.

I was able to get the rom to install and display sprint.
However after downloading gosms I was still unable to get mms to send or receive.

Anybody know how to fix this issue?

by just following the instructions (rom>gapps>ov-to-sprint), i was able to send MMS but not recieve
we can edit the apn settings in gosms, so does anyone know what those are?

Wow, I ask the developer some simple questions in his "Live Support" and he gets mad and bans me :3

So I'll ask here,

When you decided to port CM7 to your phone,
Devices | CyanogenMod

which device did you select? Considering the Optimus (the G2x is, but that isn't a M/V/S/T) isn't there I was curious.

Do you mean 'install/flash' rather than 'port'? If so, the Optimus isn't a CM-supported model, hence the existence of this project. You can't flash any of the roms on the CM site.

Well then it's starting to make more sense, so in actuallity, it's just a flash over of CM7 and whatever works works, and the dev thats supporting it is trying to fix it. Thanks, so I just have to wait till the bugs are fixed :3

Wonder why aosp couldn't just say that instead of banning me :x

Well, no, I thought you were asking us how you should install this, not asking us to answer on behalf of the dev how he ported it. Porting requires far more effort than 'flash another model's and see what works'.

The bugs that are there will, in all honesty, probably remain until an official gingerbread update for some flavor of optimus comes out. Hacking together drivers for unique hardware can only get you so far.

I got new LG Optimus S yesterday, based on directions here, rooted it and installed Xionia ROM. And then decided to use this rom since this is deodexed. I must this is terrific Rom...

I like the TV screen like when you turn off screen.

Nice!

Got this rom working pretty good on my optimus S I found a few issues though. Couldn't get the Lock screen to display the correct carrier even after trying multiple times to flash the OV to Sprint zip. Another issue I had was the Alarm Clock kept crashing, I fixed this by installing the DeskClockGoogle.apk from here, and deleting the version that is in the rom. lastly I installed mms.apk and flashed the sprint vvm from the link below, I also noticed that battery life is completely crap compared to thunderrom that I came from. I also tried Scott Pilgrum Rom and it wasn't acceptable due to the fact that Wireless hotspot & Navigation was broken.

Look here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...aosp-2-3-3-cm7-gingerbread-24.html#post915774 for the answer to getting the correct carrier to display. Be sure to thank the op for posting the info and not me. :D Also, would you mind explaining how you were able to get your mms working. Even with gosms mine are still not working. Other than that, I love this rom.
