not looking good. unable to receive mms with just the method above. trying a couple other things before completely debunking

I think I'm going to have to say myth busted... I've tried everything.
Both versions of the v14 kernel (one hung at LG), with and without gapps, with and without ov-to-sprint zips... everything.
Completely unable to receive mms.
Is there anything else you did for this?

Scratching my head on this one. I did upgrade the kernel to zefie's final s kernel, v13 experimental prior to flashing the V14 V kernel. Maybe that is important? I will keep thinking as I have tried a lot before this to get receive mms working. And it does work.

Link is posted a few pages back. I would link it for you but I'm on my phone.

Also, you no longer need the ov-to-sprint files. Look at the link in my signature.

That is the rom, I am looking for the source the rom is compiled from...

still noodling on how I can receive mms

I did manually install mms.apk as discussed in post 331, on a fully installed aosp rom, as indicated in the instructions on post 1.
Then, I flashed the optimus s zefie's v13 experimental kernel, concluding that the receive mms issue is strictly a kernel issue, not a rom issue.
Then, I flashed the optimus v v14 anykernal kernal.
Then, I tested and found that I could receive mms.
I rebooted and used for a couple of day at least after each of the above steps.

I am certain that simply flashing the mms.apk did not fix the receive mms prolem.
I am not certain that simply flashing zefie's v13 kernel did not fix it alone.
I am certain that it is fixed after flashing the v14 optimus v kernel.

Hi,

I just loaded "rXTy.nexus.cm7.mms.apk", which is a deodexed CM7 app, extracted mms.apk from it, moved it over to /system/app, installed it there, and then rebooted. Sprint messaging now shows up as a app and everything seems to work. I have not tried receiving a picture mail yet, but thought this information might be helpful to everyone. I am running AOSP 5/23, and the messaging app had never shown up before in the app list.

If you flash the zip in the original post, it should fix the buttons. However I found that the fix won't work for xionia kernel v14. As for the youtube app, try reflashing. If you didn't format data too from stock 2.2,that could keep some apps from working right.

Android 2.3.4 is the most current version too, they just didn't update the title of the post.

No, I didn't mean the recovery. I thought I read the rom manager recovery will brick the phone or fail to install. There's a kernel going around on xda that everyone is suggesting but I found it doesn't play nice with the button fix for some reason.
