Wanted to say a BIG THANKS for this. Was a bit hesitant to jump to AOSP Gingerbread, but very glad I did. Very fast, light, robust, and configurable; what more could someone want, especially after getting rid of the live wallpaper stuff? Really like the launcher too, as I was previously using LauncherPro. Think this one may be even a bit better! Now I'm going to have to spend some time learning about all the new settings. Thanks again.

is this rom easy to install?

Same as any other rom. Just make sure you wipe EVERYTHING if you're coming from less than 2.3, but a good idea to nonetheless anyway. Just have all your stuff backed up in nandroid/titanium/whatever. Then flash the rom, then the sprint patch and the google apps. I'm currently reinstalling all my apps with titanium but otherwise seems rock solid. I was curious about battery life so I won't be able to comment on that until probably later tomorrow once I get an idea for it.

Yes. Have Xionia recovery so I:

0) Made Nandroid and Backup of Apps/Data using My BackUp Root
1) Wiped data/cache
2) Under Mounts & Storages, Formatted System
3) Flashed ROM
4) Flashed GApps
5) Flashed OV to Sprint
6) Rebooted
7) Downloaded My Backup and restored apps and data

Had to download a few of my apps from the Market again as they did not want to get moved to the SD card, but the fresh download cured that. Then just restored the data for those few. Wireless Tether from the market is working well. All said and done, was up and running in under an hour.

Gotcha, thanks. XDA is undergoing site maintenance right now until 10:30. When that rolls around I'll check out the thread.

If it means anything to you, I flashed zefie's build on thunderc recovery but have since changed to xionia clockwork. Since this is built off gingerbread as in zefie's I don't see any reason why you couldn't flash it with thunderc recovery. But yes, definitely grab the debug-system zip to use that if you do stick with that recovery. I've also just flashed at finished setting up this rom and it seems rock solid so far. Only difference I see is there's no built-in wifi tether ability (not even an option in the menus, although it does show up in the notification widgets despite is nonfunctionality). I'll have to see how it does for battery life as I go tomorrow, but I'm liking it so far..

I had flashed with the thunderc recovery, the part that didn't take was the VM to sprint flash.

It worked flawlessly with the clockwork from the xda thread. I am prone to user error though.

Funny, this rom makes google think I have a nexus s, as they just sent me an email welcoming me to my new device ;) This didn't happen with Scott Pilgrim build, but it's funny still..

Can you use the "quick settings" hack to tether?

So really, what's the difference between this and a Sprint based ROM? Is it just something different to try, or are there noticeable performance gains? What I'm getting at is, are there good solid reasons, other than having something else to tinker with, to choose this over the Sprint based ROMs? I'm not looking for personal preferences, I'm after actual performance comparisons.

The Sprint based ROMS are based off of an almost stock form of Android, they improve on the looks and performance of what came with the phone. Basically 2.2.

This is CyanogenMod, which is based on Android 2.3 and the benefits you get from that plus the modifications done by CyanogenMod. But this is based off of a version of Android that hasn't been officially released by LG, so there won't be a completely bug-free experience.

I can't attest to the performance though, as I'm not a metrics type of guy. As long as the machine works smoothly, I'm happy, and even willing to deal with bugs if that adds extra features to the machine.

Have you run ThunderRom, nRom, or Lego? They're pretty much the same thing performance wise. How do they compare in performance with AOSP?

The only bugs I've read so far are the homescreen/settings button swap, and the bluetooth issue. Is there anything else?

No button swap problems on my installation. Not sure about bluetooth problems, as I don't use bluetooth other than to transfer files and no problem with that. Used ThunderROM a while back (1.5?), but pretty quickly went to my own custom ROM which had similar performance to TR & NROM, but lighter. No problems with MMS either. This ROM "feels" noticeably faster, and is certainly very light. After installing ~30 apps, I still have ~150mb free on a fresh boot, after getting rid of a few additional apk's I don't use, e.g., live wallpapers. Solid as rock too. The above as well as the ability to adjust the clock speed, the excellent battery life, and the myriad of adjustments available really make this a winner, IMHO.

Yeah I've ran them, aosp does feel snappier compared, but that's still subjective opinion.

The button swap didn't happen on my phone, but mayhap be the order in which they're flashed (Rom , gapps, then sprint conversion). The accelerometer is a bit wonky on aosp's. As well, the camera app has issues (trouble starting it, and then always getting the red no-go square) although other apps that use the camera have no problems. I can't think of any other bugs that I've ran into yet.

As I've said before, the music controls on the Native lockscreen( added by Cyanogen) in addition to the improved text selection properties of Gingerbread are one of the selling points for me.

Granted, I think it would be wise for me to figure out how to get the lockscreen controls working on non Cyanogen ROMS if I want it so badly.

Disclaimer: Satisfied Palm Pixi user.... what else do you expect?

100% pleased with the performance.

579,286,347,634,048,734% pleased with battery life.

Don't know if its the combination of kernel/ROM, or just a lucky mix of constantly flashing every available product in this forum, but my battery is currently toeing the line @ 48 hours of heavy usage.
OC'ed - On Demand - 245/806 and haven't taken any precautions as far as usage. Just going balls out and this MF'er just keeps on trucking.

Almost makes me wish I wasn't haphazardly flashing crap to my phone so I could relate what combination of things has created this monster.

@KSmith... Figure out what the hell I've done and work it into your pretty ROM FFS! Oh that's right, your gonna abandon us for that supposed pure Google experience. I got 5$ that says they will figure out how to justify adding Sprint ID to your pretty Nexus ;)

Took the plunge. Don't know about battery life yet, as I've only been running it for a couple of hours. Performance wise, Angry Birds has always been my test for snappiness and lag. On AOSP there is virtually ZERO lag, I've never experienced that on this phone before running any other ROM. Running 245/768 Interactive, I haven't tried it on a lower setting yet.

The stock Zeam launcher is nice and has some cool features, but I'm just set on Launcher Pro. I've been using LPP for a long time now and it's set up the way I like so I'm stuck on it.

I've giving this ROM a hard run for a couple of days, but so far it seem like a keeper

Where can we get more themes? I checked the thread at XDA and didn't see anything mentioned.
