Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 11/20 ZVD basesband Alpha19

So, just to be crystal clear on the Kernels:

Test 36 is currently the latest

Test 23 is currently the default, and may have the best battery life

Test 21 has the best clock lag fix.

Am I right in that summation? Are there any known comparisons for the latest test? Better/worse with clock lag? Deep sleep? Battery (probably related to deep sleep)?

FYI, my phone over a 23 hour period spent less than 1% in deep sleep, so I think there's still a deep sleep problem on default (test 23 according to CPU Spy)

Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 11/20 ZVD basesband Alpha19

I don't use the stock gallery (I use Quickpic, and everything seems to work in that gallery). Native tethering seems to be the only other broken thing in the latest build.

Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 11/20 ZVD basesband Alpha19

If anyone wants to try a fresh build of Paranoid Android 1.6 ics/cm9 to see whats working or not. Probably just a one time build.
Paranoid-Android-238x154.png

  • Tablet UI, Play around with paranoid settings to your liking
  • Test kernel 23
  • ZVD based.
  • Uses the old way of automatic apps and dalvik to sd-ext.
  • Native usb mass storage is broken, so use the old usb app included..
  • Has Youtube hq fixes
  • build.prop uses debug.composition.type=dyn for less flickering in the UI, works well in CAI too.
  • Currently inline with CAI,
  • Camera may need to be set manually to phone dpi.. Settings/Paranoid settings/List of apps/All tab/ Find Camera and set UI: phone , Stock dpi: phone
  • Same with Google Search, change the app to phone dpi and UI to phone Stock dpi : phone thanks relooreloo
  • If you want this ROM to behave as generic CM9 without paranoid features you can turn off hybrid mode in
Settings / Paranoid settings. This will disable paranoid framework and rom will become standard CM9 with phone layout and default DPI.
  • Thanks to c3c0 for PA ics repos.

Tethering is available, but not the native tethering through the OS. You can, however, use Foxfi or similar for tethering, and it's decently stable. As stable as I've ever had with native, at least.

Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 11/20 ZVD basesband Alpha19

Here's a stupid question: How does one perform native usb tethering?

I have only ever tried using WiFi Tether through a few WiFi Tether Apps.

Thx.

Make sure you switch on the app2sd extension of your choice, make doubly sure you have not downloaded/updated any apps that show up in the "Downloaded" tab of your "Settings -> Apps" page, and reboot. Play Store and TiBu are installing to /sd-ext as directed now. :D

ES File Explorer is also FCing for me on 19E.

What do you mean by switch on? Is there a setting I missed, or are you just talking about flashing the .zip for the d2ext?

Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 11/20 ZVD basesband Alpha19

Whoa, LOVE the Paranoid Android build. Very zippy without changing kernel. Apps restored properly from TiBu, I like the tablet interface, no problems anywhere, so far
-edit-
Google Search FCs. Changing PA dpi settings for Search to "phone" totally fixes it, default is set to "tablet."

Nevermind. I swapped cronmod's int2sd+ script for the app2d script in the rom. It worked perfectly and I did a tibu batch restore fine. As an interesting side note, the info under settings, storage has numbers that actually look correct.

INT2EXT and D2EXT both display the correct storage info because they actually mount sd-ext as /data instead of just linking everything there

How should I overclock on this rom, I have the kernal that comes in the rom, test 23, I have it on 122/806 on smartass v2 and I get a lot of reboots

Not all OptiS' are made equal. I suggest stepping down a grade on the OC and seeing what happens. Personally, I don't OC at all and the rom runs like butter regardless.

Took it down a notch and I'm oc'ing at 122/787 and no reboots yet

Simple directions for something like that? Assume I know how to open up the ROM's ZIP in 7zip and add or replace files.

Make a backup.

Download the script you like from here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124

Navigate the .zip file to system/etc/init.d. Copy the script from there.

Open (don't extract) the Rom.zip, and navigate to the same folder. Replace the apps2sd script with cronmod's and save the .zip.

Flash the modified .zip as usual.

If you don't wanna reflash, you could use a root explorer type app to delete the old script from system/etc/init.d, copy in the new one, and set it's permissions. Then reboot recovery, wipe dalvik and cache, and reboot. Make a backup before you do all of this.

Using 19E with the int2sd+ script added, running test kernel 36. Things seem pretty smooth so far, and of course TiBu batch install work since /sd-ext is mounted to the /data partition. Still getting FCs with ES File Explorer, couldn't begin to tell you why. We'll see what other fun issues crop up with extended use.
