[ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for Hero CDMA :: V7.0.3 (6 May 2011)

I finally did it!! cant believe I waited this long to try a ROM, I wanna thank srkmagnus for guiding me through all of it, I have lots to learn about this ROM, good news is I have my contact and my pics :) No I have to figure out how to restore my apps lol

Did you use titanium backup or mybackup pro to save your apps? In titanium, there is an option to batch restore + data. That will get all the apps you saved back onto your phone.

I'm not sure how it is done through Mybackup Pro.

Regarding the 3g question, the toggle doesn't work to my knowledge. The feature works for other phones, but hasn't been worked out for the HeroC. You can adjust the widget settings from the pull status bar by going into the CyanogenMod Settings. You can remove the ones you don't want or add more widgets.

When WiFi is on you will see the notification on the status bar. It looks like every other icon to identify WiFi. You can also check by going into the WiFi settings from the menu (Menu > Settings > Networks) It will let you know which WiFi you are connected to.

Explore the phone and let us know how you are doing with it :)

I used myback up and I had to install the apps from there instead of going to the market, I only lost a couple of contacts but not big deal, I figured out the wifi, I was not connected lol.

There was a great thread started and featured on the front page describing backup and restore. It's worth the read, especially if anyone wants to explore the phone more and install other ROMs.

For some reason the link isn't posting correctly. It was posted on the front page on 4/30, I will try and fix the link when I get to a computer.

Link seems to be working now.

Ok great I will check it out, so far im loving how smooth is running and how is laid out. Could I get sprint navigation back?

I noticed that after I installed the Rom that Gmail and yahoo dont show notification, both are enabled

They should. Go into Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync > Gmail

For some reason you need to activate the Sync of Gmail in the settings for it to start pushing email notifications. Same might be true for Yahoo, though not 100% sure since I don't use it.

I don't think Sprint Navigation will work. A good alternative is the google navigation, never had problems with that. Also, forgot to tell you about the voice mail issue. Sprint visual voice mail will work but with a bit of trickery. See the first post for a reference, I think I posted a link to get it working. Otherwise, Google voice is your best friend :)

Sprint navigation is probably the app that I will mostly miss since it never failed on me :(
You mean google maps right? I have that but never used it to navigate, as far as voicemail I do have GV and I like it :)

I picked up a 4gig memory card and i want to move my apps to it? Is there anything good I can use and will i have to reinstall app or just move them now? thanks

There is a separate google navigation with voice, not the maps. Look for it on the market.

To transfer Apps just go to menu, settings, applications, all, and fine the one you want to move and select move to sd.

I just searched the market but didn't find the Navigation app. It could be that it's in Beta, at least that's according to the app itself when I open it. It should have been included in the gapps file you flashed. Check the app drawer and see if there is a Navigation app with a blue icon.

Ok I will check it out, is it call a "google map navigation book"? free?

I had to reboot twice because apps are deleting on their own? :( Internal memory space shows 90.49mb out of 160mb, the way I found out that they were deleted its because the icon picture on the apps were defaulted to the android instead of the app itself :(

I just look at my apps and I did not see it :(

Ok I just moved most of my apps to the sd card but I downloaded a couple more apps from the market but unable to find them to tranfer

I'm not sure why they are deleting. Did you notice this after transferring apps to the SD Card or before?

I did a quick search and there is a page for it on Google. Google Maps Navigation for mobile

I'll see if I can dig around and find a download for it since it's apparently in Beta. I didn't realize this until this morning.

Are you going to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Downloaded ?

You can try the "All" tab and see if they show up. I believe Google allows apps to be installed to the SD Card but the Developer has to enable it on the app. It might be something that the app does not allow by default.

I noticed the apps deleting before I transfer apps to sd card.

Ok please let me know I kinda need navigation, thanks.

Yea thats the way I'm doing it same way I did with the other apps, went to all and went to downloads but unable to find the new app that I just downloaded.

Open Google Maps and enter an address for driving directions - doesn't matter where. When the directions pull up, click on the bottom left icon to view the directions in text. There should be a blue icon on the top right corner which is for navigation. See if that comes up. I'm looking around to see why it's not on your device - it should have been installed when the gapps file was flashed.

**Edit**

Maybe the Google Maps Version is outdated. Go into the Market and verify that the market see's the phone as being installed and check for an update.
