[ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for Hero CDMA :: V7.0.3 (6 May 2011)

Open Google Maps and enter an address for driving directions - doesn't matter where. When the directions pull up, click on the bottom left icon to view the directions in text. There should be a blue icon on the top right corner which is for navigation. See if that comes up. I'm looking around to see why it's not on your device - it should have been installed when the gapps file was flashed.

**Edit**

Maybe the Google Maps Version is outdated. Go into the Market and verify that the market see's the phone as being installed and check for an update.

Ok I looked into this and was able to see the blue icon at the top right and it asked me to install android text to speach from the market but the Market has been giving me errors and forecloses often, it says the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.

I googled and found to do this about the market
*Find Market in application settings, stop it, and remove the update (which should downgrade it to 2.3.3). After you launch it and accept the agreement, downloading apps should work.* But that didnt work :( Should I re reflash the gapps package?

Good. I havn't had that issue for some time now, hopefully it stays working for you.

That's good to hear :) How's the Google Navigation app? I use google maps and it's been good enough for me.

I haven't use it but I'm still getting alot of app errors and forecloses and even app updates from the market are not updating.

Which apps are force closing? Is it a specific set of apps or all of them? You might want to reboot and see if it persists afterwards. If it's a few set of apps, then un-installing them and re-installing them may solve the problem.

Also, do the updates not allow you to install? Does the download hang? There was a post somewhere with a fix to Market download problems. I'll see if I can find the post.

Its more than just the apps, for example I go to change notification on GV and it forecloses, I have phone set on vibrate and when i get an incoming call I get that forecloses msg also. Should I re install ROM and gapps and whats the process I should take? It seems that when I reboot it will be fine but after a bit I'll get the same error msg.

One of the apps that I get error and foreclose is ringdroid, I unistalled and re installed and still same error. It seems like thats the only one I was getting error on, I was able to get the update from titanium back up after I reboot it phone.

Could my sd card have something to do with those errors I get? I know I have removed sd card without unmounting. I would like to clean out sd card but not sure what or what not can be deleted. When I got the 4g I just copy and paste all from the 2g.

I was having the same problem with Ringdroid when it was installed. I've since uninstalled it and installed "Rings Extended by Diane Hackborn" It's free on the market and no problems with it force closing. Give that a try :)

Replace the app and try setting your GV notification and see if that fixes it. Also, browse through the sd card and delete things you don't use. Files are often created to save app data. So if you see a file name with an app you no longer use then it's safe to delete. Do not delete .android_secure since it's the file folder that has all the apps you have moved to the sd card. You can move the apps back to the phone and delete the file if you want.

If you use camera/photo apps, keep in mind that photos can also be stored in those file folders on the sd card and not in the DCIM folder.

I have deleted ringdroid and GV notifications seems to be ok now, but I noticed when I connected the phone via usb to look at my sd card I received that error too. I deleted files from the sd card from the my applications and looks like I no longer see them on the market as my downloads :( I just think I did something wrong to have that error everywhere.

Also I used to have a widget for pandora now its not listed as a widget.

Music app does not scan anything now for music either.

Reboot the phone and see where they went. Also, check the My Downloads in the market and see if they are still there. I'm not sure why there are so many problems turning up. What you can do if it gets to be very problem-some is to make a recovery backup (just in case), wipe/factory reset. There should be no reason to re-flash the ROM or gapps.

This time, don't install the Titanium backup you made of the apps. Just get the phone back up and running by logging in to google. Then download the apps onto the phone. This will be very problematic and tedious, but may be necessary since you are having so many problems.

Also, there shouldn't be much of a need to install the apps on the sd card unless you have a lot of apps. If so, then perhaps saving a few onto the sd card won't hurt but keep the majority on the phone storage.

I just rebooted and now my download app show up in the market, but I still get media type error if I unmount the sd card or if I open the music app, I'm just backing up the rom right now and going to wipe and factory like you mentioned above because I notice its not the same feel as of when I first flashed it.

Sorry for the late response - I was in route home from work and had an appointment. Looks like you got things going again. Sometimes a wipe/factory reset is in order to clean up messes on the phone.

Hopefully things do not start acting up again. Let me know how the phone is and if you need any help. Poke around in the settings, including the ADW Settings, which will allow you to make custom changes to the phones launcher (u.i.).
