[ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.1.0 -Stable

For those trying to get visual voicemail working, check out the xda forum page for beta0. Someone extracted the sprint voicemail app from a leaked ics build for epic touch. Seems to be working for me so far.

How's this working out for you, now that you've had a couple days of use?........is there a monthly carrier fee involved?

No monthly carrier fee that I know of. Seems to be working fine for me so far, outside of the issues that the CM9 team have already pointed out.

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-Alpha 5

Thus far I am not liking Beta0 as much as I did Alpha5. Battery life seems much, much worse and the SD card has twice unmounted on its own, once causing a reboot. If I were to try and go back to Alpha5 I assume that would I have to wipe data, correct?

First, since you are about to flash back to Alpha5, it wouldn't hurt to download a fresh zip of beta0 + fresh gapps...........am assuming you still have a Nandroid of CM9alpha5?............w/ your issues (shouldn't be any of those things happening on beta, btw) I would: (1) backup callogs + sms (2) boot to CWM recovery (3) wipe cache + dalvik-cache + wipe data/factory restore, THEN restore CM9alpha5 from the nandroid..............from there, all things being equal (good battery life + stability that you've referenced), I would power-off then boot back to CWM recovery, wipe cache + dalvik ONLY + flash beta0, immediately gapps + boot to system...............all of these procedures would perhaps take an additional 20 minutes............+ you can always restore your Nandroid of CM9alpha5 a second time in the event that CM9beta0 is still behaving erratic.

Some thoughts for you TH (just a start as there has to be some specific cause for all of the irregularities on this beta affecting your device,)............OH, if you don't have a nandroid of CM9alpha5, why not wipe cache + dalvik ONLY your first time flashing back to alpha5...........if your issues appear to have gone along for the ride, you can do the TOTAL data wipe w/ next flash :)

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-0

I made the jump to this ROM from syndicate frozen. It's been amazing! I've had almost zero issues.

Unfortunately, I've lost one key ability: my version of syndicate frozen came with wifi tether installed. That version allowed me to tether in infrastructure mode. On CM9, I've redownloaded wifi tether, but the current beta (beta 11) doesn't give the option for Epic 4g in infrastructure mode.

Does anyone know of any tethering options that will let me do this?

Thanks,

X

There shouldn't be much difference between the two. Did you do an update from A5 to B0? If so, my suggestion would be to wipe clean and to a fresh flash instead.

Quick question, giving this ROM and try. How do I make a shortcut? Thanks!

Try here: menu / System settings / Wireless & networks / More ........ Tethering & portable hotspot.

Hope this helps.

sonarchist - Thanks for your tips and advice. I will definitely play around with the phone this weekend and before I go back to Alpha5 I will wipe and re-flash Beta0. I also see that Beta1 is just around the corner so I might just ride out the bumps in the road I am having and just wipe and flash it once released. Again, your contributions are greatly appreciated.

I did wipe clean first. Maybe I just had a bad install. Gonna do so again this weekend or after Beta1 comes out and see if that helps me.

Unfortunately, whenever I turn on the built in Hotspot, it immediately turns itself off again. No force close, just on for 2 seconds then off...

I was trying to avoid that, since everything else was working perfectly. If I can't get wireless-tether working, I'll go that route.

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-0

Fellow CM9 users: finally, a confirmed FIX for the phantom voicemail notification BUG..........w/ thanks to tbob18 + danipoak of XDA for creating this port for the Epic4G.......here's how to install it:

Download zip to mSD Card.
From CWM:
1. create nandroid.
2. wipe cache + wipe dalvik-cache.
3. flash zip.
4. reboot to system.

xda-developers - View Single Post - [MOD] Phantom Voicemail Notification Fix [ICS]

Not to confuse anybody, + I would definitely have gone w/ Visual Voicemail apk from Epic CM Team (a couple of posts up), however had already DL'd + installed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23476961&postcount=571 ..........mounted ES File Explorer in order to run the apk install.

So I rebooted phone earlier today and when it started up it was in "Safe Mode". Did not know that this mode existed! Rebooted again and it was fine. Anyone have any idea why it would have booted into safe mode and not normal mode?

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-0

i have a sprint epic 4g on revol wireless
Currently revol only has a 1x network no 3g just yet but later this year perhaps...
I flashed it over and on the custom rom CleanGB MTD build my data works just fine under 1x
When I cwm over to CM7 or CM9 I do not get any 1x data at all.
It tell me mobile data disconnected.
I click on it and it then says connected.
I see the 1x icon
I go to browser no data
I do airplane mode and reboot
still no data....

I go back to cleanGB mtd build by flashing or using cwm backup and data works fine....
How can i get data working on cm9?

here are the instructions that were used to flash the phone to revol and get data working on cleanGB... This is a pdf file.. so please use something like adobe reader to view it...
