Currently prepping for Nil's Business Gingersense 3.5!

OVORene's Community 3.0 ROM was a bit too laggy for me and I really didn't like the 3D screen effects. I liked Nil's 2.1/3.0 but couldn't customize notification sounds, but I think that was related to my particular install.

Nil's 3.5 looks good. I may give it a shot. Just one thing though. In the install instructions is mentions formatting system in mounts. I've never done that before. What exactly does that do?

Thats interesting because I thought Community was smoother than Nils'. I love both but for some reason I really dig the recent apps in the notification menu.

I'm gonna give 3.5 a shot today when I get a chance...As far as Formatting System Mounts, not sure exactly what it does but I'm gonna give it a go anyway. I've seen a couple ROM's that require formatting system mounts, and several other mounts as well...if everyones doing it, it must be ok right?

Is anyone else having issues with ROM manager showing the latest nightlies? I always flash manually, but use ROM manager to download the latest nightlie, but the past few days it hasn't been updating. According to ROM Manager, the latest nightlie is 211 (9/30), but in actuality, 214 is the latest one. I understand I can manually download the update, but is anyone else seeing this?

Is anyone having issues with the stock browser or skyfire force closing. It has only started happening with build 214. I upgraded to 215 today and still the same issue. I can usually get into the home screen choose a bookmark and it will force close. Any ideas on what is happening? Thanks

Try clearing the cache from the browser through the menu, settings, app, manage apps, clear data (or cache I can't remember exactly how its worded).

This will probably delete any bookmarks and passwords you've saved.

Have you tried fixing permissions?

I'm going to throw this out there. I have been running CM7 based roms for a while now. There is one issue I have been having since my first flash (the latest stable). At least once a day my screen will not wake up. I have to pull the battery and turn it back on to get it to work. Fix permissions seems to work, but i usually have the problem again the next day. Currently running 214. Is this a hardware issue or a rom issue?

I've run CM7 off and on since nightly 50something and I've never had that problem...sorry. It seems like a wild app is running and consuming all the cpu's power and preventing the screen from coming on. Did you do any app restores with app data?

I have been using it since shortly after tiny posted it on Chad's site. Silky smooth and exceptional battery life on smartass v2.

I use Firefox. No FC's on anything. It runs perfect. Also use Chads 10/1/2011! With Smarta$$ v2

So far, so good. I charged to full with phone off, booted into recovery and flashed the kernel, then wiped battery stats.

Wanda - it was a while ago but I'm pretty sure I was using a backup with data when I first flashed. Just installed the nightlies as updates...I guess you'll now tell me to try a clean install...

You could either try that or uninstall all your apps and re-install from either the market or titanium minus the app data. Either way its not gonna be pleasant.

But that's assuming the problem is a bad app. The fresh install will almost surely solve the issue

If it were me I'd just do a clean install and start things fresh but that's me...I also like to change ROMs like most people change socks.

Are you using the stock kernel?
