I'd probably try to determine why your device is getting hot, and not just blame the radio change. Personally I've only seen the device get hot when it's running an intense graphics display like Navigation or GoogleMaps.... but I don't have your device or know what you are running on it... but I'd still give it more than an hour to figure out what is going on.... maybe even reboot it once or twice after it's had time to settle on your device.
I've used the older MR2 radio, MR2.5, the official MR2, and Chingy's radio at different times... I've not really seen one be significantly better than any other... but that is me personally the way I use my device... maybe one is tested more with a specific ROM than another... so it might be better matched up, but I personally have not found any major difference... but I've been fairly happy with either the Official MR2 or Chingy's radio and probably would not have a problem recommending either one since they are the most recent releases/leaks.
Thanks. I have some experience with RTOS's and various ROM's for other devices. The heat I was noticing was specific to a certain configuration of ROM and Radio's on my device. The heat increase was immediate upon reboot as well as subsequent reboots, with no other programs loaded on the phone or any of peripheral radios running (GPS etc.). Enough evidence for me to conclude that there was some process error causing a significant load on the system.
I should report however that I went back wiped everything multiple times, and reloaded Chingy's radio (single download package) with the latest gingeritis 3D update. After flashing the new Radio's and ROM I fully charged the battery, then wiped the battery stats from the recovery console and rebooted. After a half days usage I noticed that the battery meter changed. The phone is now performing flawlessly. With moderate 4G data usage (email sync 15min, and a few web browsing sessions) appx 20min worth of calls and periodic app usage, I am getting more then 24hrs of battery life off the phone, went 30hrs at one point. I should note that I move all non-essential apps to the sd card and did all the recommended battery tweaks. I am not running any battery saver apps or app killers. I am not running HTC sync or live wall papers.
Hope this helps people. FYI my phone is a May build Thunderbolt.
