[ROM]Gingeritis 3D v1.0 Beta VII [08-08-11]

Has anyone had any issues with the battery only charging to a certain point? Mine is stuck at 77% and wont go any further? I can charge it all night and that is a good as it gets....

I just sent a phone back for this same reason. I was flashing a ROM and some mods while on a low battery warning.. it was my fault, I shouldn't have been flashing anything to begin with.. only had 10% battery left. Anyways.. at the last minute I plugged my phone into a car charger and received a warning about the charger not being compatible (even though it was) and that if I continued that it may cause damage. I ignored the warning and screwed up my phone. The phone would never reach full charge and only would go up to 78-79%. I tried different chargers, outlets and batteries with no luck. I called Verizon and it was covered under the 1 year warranty for defects... So I now have a new phone (refurb) working better then ever.

So after a week of running this ROM I've decided to keep it. Although the battery life is absolutely atrocious. I've installed juice defender to see if this helps, I can't think of anything else that will improve it.

Should I use a different radio?1.39.00.0627r,0.01.69.0625r

Why not... it only takes a couple minutes. The hard part is trying to judge if one days use compares with another using different radios.

Flashed and began installing apps etc. Battery stats were wiped so I know battery info was good. Went from 100% to 87% in less then 20 minutes. That is somewhat worse then stock. Can't do it. Just flashed back VI, same process battery still at 98%.

Anyone play with the older radio to see if this has any benefit? Somewhere in here is nirvana, just got to find it.

Lots of people play with different radio's... in the past I've had good luck with Chingy's radio, but I currently using 1.39.00.0627r... what radio are you using???

Using Chingys radio, thought about swapping, any suggestions? Can I swap after ROM loaded or do I need to reflash ROM after installing new radio?

Please also provide a link. I can see MR2 & MR2.5 but can't determine what the actual radio version is. Want to try latest radio that is not Chingys that will work with GB roms.

First, you can change Radio's any time... just do the following:

To flash the radio, rename the zip to PG05IMG.zip if it's not already and place it on the root of your SD Card. Boot into Bootloader: power off your phone... Turn the phone back on by holding down the volume down rocker and the power button at the same time until the phone opens in bootloader. The zip should start running and updating the radio. Once done reboot the phone on and remove the PG05IMG.zip from your phone, or rename, or move it off the root of the sd card in another folder. If its not moved after the installation it will constantly keep trying to update the radio if you ever need to boot into bootloader again to get to recovery.

Next the links for some Radio and processes: http://forums.androidcentral.com/thunderbolt-rooting-roms-hacks/97307-guide-upgrade-mr2-compatible-rom-radio-mr1-after-root.html... there are links to some of the Radios if you want to try a different one... including the one I mentioned above.

FB, thanks! Have you tried the new radio? Any thoughts on which one I should use?

I said which Radio I'm using... I'm happy with it... 1.39.00.0627r... check back a few pages and you will see my Wifi ON battery test... a full 2 days... of course that is not LTE.... but I have Wifi at home and at work.

Well, after playing around with various radios this afternoon, went back to the latest chingy radio. For some reason my phone runs hot with the other radios. Noticed that it was hot with stock ROM and Radio out of the box. Using Chingys radio the phone runs cooler. Battery life was improved over the stock, so for now will stick with it. Hope he figures out what is causing the battery drain on with the new gingeritis 3D release. The ROM was really smooth and fast, but drained the battery rapidly.

FB, saw your comment about giving a radio a day or two. If you are noticing excessive heat would you still give it time? 24hrs later the chingy radio and ROM are working really well together. Most noticeably the phone operates much cooler.

I'd probably try to determine why your device is getting hot, and not just blame the radio change. Personally I've only seen the device get hot when it's running an intense graphics display like Navigation or GoogleMaps.... but I don't have your device or know what you are running on it... but I'd still give it more than an hour to figure out what is going on.... maybe even reboot it once or twice after it's had time to settle on your device.

I've used the older MR2 radio, MR2.5, the official MR2, and Chingy's radio at different times... I've not really seen one be significantly better than any other... but that is me personally the way I use my device... maybe one is tested more with a specific ROM than another... so it might be better matched up, but I personally have not found any major difference... but I've been fairly happy with either the Official MR2 or Chingy's radio and probably would not have a problem recommending either one since they are the most recent releases/leaks.

dont know if its the newest and greatest radio that just came out, but i flashed back to this rom and OMG what a HUGE difference in battery life 8hrs so far and still have 82%
31% display
26% wifi
19% cell standby
mostly its been on 4G the whole time and maybe 10 min on wifi

I'm on Chingy and now using Juice defender and my battery life is still ****. I'm on 4g for ~10 hours and I'm usually around 20% by the time I get out of work. It's pathetic.

That's pretty amazing for 4g in my opinion. 10 hours with 20% left I mean. Most of these "amazing battery life" posts come from folks on wifi or flks that arent using their phone all the time. It is a massive difference.

Go into Settings > About phone > Software information > More > what is your Baseband version??? That will tell us what radio you have installed.

Sorry to lazy to look now, but its the double radio with cdma and LTE can't remember what thread it was but someone was able to combine the zips into 1 zip. When I roll out bed I my computer I will get the info needed. Right now going on about 11 hrs and still have 77 % left. This is a total of about 2hrs on WiFi. 9 hrs on 4G
