Re: [ROM] gROM 1.2 -10/2/11- GB 2.3.3 -Tuned to perfection! O/C-a

Giving 1.1.5 a try. Opti-Rom still has too much Sprint in it :-$ for me. I did like the blue theme they had but the battery meter was also off.

I've noticed it too. It's very frustrating. It's even difficult. dragging things. around the screen or navigating on the internet without selecting text unintentionally.

Also my wifi keeps giving me errors. and I have to reboot to get 3G or wifi working again. I also uninstalled the old Swype and installed the latest beta. It works fine until I reboot, then I get nonstop force closes until I reinstall it again.

I just want to go back to Drew's CM7 ROM again, but I don't know if that's. possible now.

Yes it is possible, you just have to revert back to ZVD first. Look in the stickies for the revert thread. I can not post link now, not at.computer. But you can go back to Drew's CM7 if you want.

Always happy to help, hit that thanks button if I did

1.1.5 instead of 1.2? Why is that?

I'v been seeing a few folks having trouble with the new Gb roms. I just wanted to let
Scrosler know I'm running grom 1.2 with the o'c kernel and not having any problems. Thanks for
all your hard work.

Yeah some people will always have issues no matter what

This ROM is solid with or with out the OC kernel. But the OC kernel does compliment the ROM well!

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.2 -10/2/11- GB 2.3.3 -Tuned to perfection! O/C-a

Does the OC kernel help with battery life at all? I will probably stick with stock as I don't need to OC for anything I use the phone for.

Update: Drew just posted an update to his kernel! Its now V 5.01

In theory it could. You could change the governor and change the low end of the frequency spectrum to save some juice. You could also lower the top end of the freq also but I dont recommend that for performance reasons.

running 1.2 with 5.01 with no issues, thanks again!

Thanks for the tip.

I'm going to stick with gROM for a little longer. I think the sensitivity issue is getting better. Also, I reinstalled Swype again and so far I've rebooted twice and it's still working. Wifi (not tether) is also still working and hasn't given me any errors. Maybe it just needed a few extra reboots.

I also just installed Drew's new kernel and it's working great. The extra speed helped I think.

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.2 -10/2/11- GB 2.3.3 -Tuned to perfection! O/C-a

So what do these two files do? And do I just place them on my SDcard and flash them like normal zips?
Mod_No-AdBlock.zip (157.3 KB, 82 views)
Mod_Percent_Battery.zip (1.73 MB, 22 views)

And how do I remove swype and add my own beta? Any help would be much appreictaed

Re: [ROM] gROM 1.2 -10/2/11- GB 2.3.3 -Tuned to perfection! O/C-a

OK found how to remove this Swype:

FROM Kevin Gosset-

The only way to uninstall your current version is to be rooted. If you are, you can use a file explorer (such as Root Explorer or Astro) and delete the swype.apk in the /system/app folder. You will also have to delete the corresponding lib files (use the search function within the file explorer). Once you have done this you can sign up for the beta and then download the latest version

The three files you need to delete are /system/app/swype.apk, /data/data/com.swype.android.inputmethod, and /system/lib/libswypecore.so

Then reboot your phone. Download the Swype beta and install!

Yes, just flash them like normal.

The first zip (no adblock) allows ads in the ROM. gROM comes with AdBlock installed, but some apps won't work if ads are blocked, so this allows you to unblock them.

The second zip, percent battery, gives you a battery percent in the battery icon in the top notification bar. However, the numbers are white on a green background, and it's almost impossible to read it.

To get the latest Swype, you first have to download Titanium Backup and backup then uninstall Swype. Then using the browser, go to Swype | Text Input for Screens and sign up for a free account. Once you do this, you'll be able to install the Swype Installer app. From there, select the English-Spanish version and let it install. Then it will ask you to enable Swype, so you hit the ENABLE SWYPE button. It takes you to the settings where you will check the Swype keyboard. Hit OK to the prompt and then hit back to go back to the installer. Then you'll notice you can SELECT SWYPE. Hit that button, highlight the Swype input method, and hit back. Click on FINISH and you're all done.

It's actually a lot easier than it sounds.

Yup I figured out the Swype thing, thanks! So I guess I won't do the battery mod thing then. Any other ideas to get the percentage back? I only miss a few things from CM7, like the notification widget controls, the battery percent, and maybe even the notification bar controls.

Couple options.

You can get a new theme here that has different battery indicators:

Or there are some apps that display the battery percentage in the top bar, but over to the left. It's been a LONG time since I used any of these, so I don't have any recommendations to make.

Battery Indicator Pro is very nice. Gives total time since unplugged and estimates time remaining.

The Themes from theme_team are awesome. I love the Retouched one and the circle battery indicator is the best :p

You might try this to get your notification controls back:
[APP] Notification Toggle - xda-developers

It's being actively developed, though I haven't used the last few iterations since I've been on a CM7 rom myself. When I used it, I didn't like the implementation quite as much as CM7's, but it does let you put switches on your notification pulldown, customize the order, etc--I'd recommend trying it out.

On another note, I haven't visited recently, and am very excited to see the new GB ROMs that are out. May be a while before I move my dad off of Reborn, but I look forward to trying these out. Major kudos to the devs for their continued efforts--you guys rock!

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this or if its just my phone. Has anyone tried the Car Home app? Seems broken for me, holding an icon should allow you to delete, and holding an unused slot should allow you to add an app but it does nothing for me. Well if it does do anything it ends up just opening the app or shortcut im trying to remove.

Not a huge deal, it was one of the features I was hesitant to leave CM7 for. That and DSPManager. When I saw 1.2 had it I got pretty excited and felt like my life was finally complete again haha (yes i know theres other versions to download on the market, i just really liked this version)
