Thank you scrosler for a wonderful ROM. I have a question about the OC though. I tried to read the entire thread but it's over 100 pages long so I hope you'll forgive me if this is already answered somewhere in the thread :-[ On certain games which are a bit more graphic intensive and also require rapid touch of the screen I get slowdowns. It's actually not that different pre-root and rom but I was hoping that with the OC ability that it would eliminate that problem.

So my question is would it be safe to test out the other OC speeds with No-Frills? I'd likely go up in intervals but before I do anything is there any risk in seeing if my phone can handle a higher speed? Is there an alternative to increasing the OC speed like say for instance is there an app where I can stop all processes which aren't important to having the phone functional while still letting me play the game? Any info would be appreciated.

You didn't make a nandroid backup then?

Some contacts are hidden by default
Go to contacts and press menu key . Display otions

I would definitely test OC speeds in No Frills because one of the features is that if it detects improper shut down it won't apply the user set values thus avoiding boot loops our other problems.

Quick question about the homescreen menu. When I flashed an earlier build of gROM I could've sworn the middle option in the upper row was "Manage Applications."

After I flashed OptiROM and then came back to gROM (full wipe, data/cache/dalvik) the Manage Apps option isn't in the homescreen menu anymore. In fact, the menu is identical to that in Opti, with only "Add" and "Wallpaper" listed in the top row.

Anyone have any info on this? I would love to have the Manage Apps option back in there rather than having to get to it through the settings menu.

Yeah, I changed launchers because there was an issue with the GB launcher I initially used. It caused incorrect Icon spacing on the screen. Sorry, i hated to loose that too but I couldnt have the icons being missed spaced.

Just crank it up... If it crashes you know you went to far. Thats my motto anyways! lol

Hi guys, new to this phone and forum but not to custom ROMs.

After flashing both ZVD and ZVH bands with almost all the ROMs out there, I really want to have the gROM on my phone. However, with all ROMs except the Sprint stock ROM, my phone reboots sporadically, hangs, and/or goes into a reboot loop, etc... and the phone becomes unusable.

I think that my particular phone can't take any overclocking (or not much). If I load this ROM, can I just turn down the OC to 600 or whatever number is right? (That's assuming that I can get to it before it goes into a boot loop). Any chance there is a ROM that isn't overclocked floating around out there?

OR, should I load another non-OC kernel? I read that this ROM kernel is already overclocked and you can't go under 720?? Is that right?

Thanks!

gRom doesn't come overclocked, rather it comes with a utility called No Frills Cpu Control to adjust your clock speeds just like any other overclock tool. You can set it to 600 and below without issue. Clocks are applied at boot by the app because it's not a built in modification.

ok... I screwed up... but don't think I'm too far away... basically I screwed up a backup of my wife's phone... but was able to step back and make things work...

However, the Dalvik mod doesn't seem to be working for me... :(

I don't have enough free space for things to work properly, and at this point, it almost looks like it's storing the dalvik info in both /data/dalvik-cache and in /cache/dalvik-cache

Help...

Figured out a solution...

I formatted the system volume (in the recovery) and then re-flashed... and it seems to be all happy...

Scott - did you ever create a release with the new/different kernel and a couple of other things you were talking about doing? You were talking about it at the beginning of the November..

Thanks!

Steve

Hi, thanks very much for creating this excellent rom.

Quick question, does this rom remove Carrier IQ? If not, what are the proper steps to remove it?

Thanks in advance :)

No it doesn't, but you can go to the opti-rom thread and use that one. Didn't have any issues when i used it. Certainly make a nand back up just in case.

I don't suppose this rom has the generic USB storage device identifier like with Froyo? I like to plug my phone into the car stereo and read the USB files from the SD card... lg broke that when they insisted on using LG drivers.

First off, I would like to say thank you for this Rom!! So far I am very pleased, but i do have a question....
When i go to Accounts/Sync, then add account.. I click the facebook icon so I can add my facebook account, but nothing happens. It acts like a dead button. Is this happening to anyone else? If anyone knows a fix or anything, please share. Thanks.

EDIT: Never got the button to work, but luckily I backed up everything using Titanium Backup before re-flashing to this rom, So i reinstalled just the data for my accounts and sync and rebooted phone, all is dandy now! :)

EDIT #2: Ok, so I ended up doing a factory reset, cause things were just running funny. My emails werent being fetched, Facebook wasnt syncing, etc. After i did the factory reset, i seem to be missing 2 apps that come with the ROM, the ES File Explorer, and the wireless tether app. I didnt back them up with Titanium Backup like an idiot, I can get the Explorer app from market, but am not sure what the name was for the tether app. Also another thing I have noticed is for some reason now, some of the widget functions of a few of my apps do not show up in the widget list when i long press on a home screen. Oh and yes, i did do a complete reset prior to flashing this ROM, but still things have been acting a little wonky.

Pardon me if I'm a little curious, but could you point me in the right direction on how to download and build a custom Android kernel.
I have read and tried all the steps at android.googlesource.com but am currently unable to figure it out. :(
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

When saving the rom into sd am i supposed to rename it? I did everything correctly but i cant seem to install anything from sd because the update.zip doesnt exist.

Anyone having trouble purchasing from the market with this rom?

I can download free apps with no issue. But cant get any pay apps to work. I have to go purchase them vai the PC based android market
