Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

""Very strange! Did you try to wipe data / factory reset before flashing the second time? ""

No did not wipe anything, figured the updater had done that.

OK, it booted after wiping everything manually. thanks

In recovery making a nandroid back-up as I type this, and will update. I know you're sick and all, and am not saying this in any rush, because well, I've already got the file and just flash it from xionia, but I think other like me would like to have the black google search for those who use it, and also the black skin mms deal. Personally I don't know why they were stock with Gbread but hey, whom am I? :P

Going to flash update now. I'll try it with ROM updater first.

Worked great. Updated with no problems. Loving the ROM Scott, seriously. Just out of curiosity, your modded host file, is it basically the same thing that adfree does or is this a better/different list? What is the sdcard memory tweak? Consider me ignorant. :P

SD card tweak increases the SD card cache to improve read write speeds, you should notice gallery loads pics faster.

Oh, very cool. Sounds incredibly useful. This ROM just keeps better and better.

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

Will I have to factory wipe/reset before I upgrade to 2.1 from 2.0 or can I just dirty flash it?

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

If I flash the circle battery zip file and don't like it, how do I revert? I guess I could go back to a nandroid, just wondering.

Also, per Scott's recommendation, a clean install of 2.0 completely fixed my GPS issue. I've been running 2.0 for 20 hours now and so far everything is perfect. Loving it! Donation on its way. Thanks for your responsiveness, help, and updates.

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

This may be a dumb question and I'm assuming it's not possible, but is there anyway gROM could have a "custom" flash feature where you could select what apps/mods you want installed?

For example, I use SetCPU instead of No Frills. After flashing, I have to uninstall No Frills. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if I could choose not to install it at all. It's probably not possible, but it would be a really neat/nice feature.

I believe the no frill's was included in case you wanted to change the setting from 748 which I believe is set in the rom and not with that software. At least that was my understanding. I could be completely wrong.

@scrosler

Incredible! Do you ever sleep? It seems like you are putting out an update for one of your Roms everyday.

I know seriously. This is my first ROM, and I figured updates would be like every couple of weeks or something, and checked back in a few days only to find a newer version then the one I flashed originally. I was really excited.

That's usually the way it is. he's the 1st dev i see who is extremely active with his tho.. like wow!!

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed / Infinite Possibilities

Used the update thing to update to 2.1, put me in boot loop.
Let it sit at the circle animation for a few minutes, pulled battery.
Downloaded 2.1, put it on card, flashed it, still hangs up at boot.
Went back to 2.0. Thanks for your work.

That's weird.. i went through the updater thing to. mine hung for 2 minutes then ended up vibrating and booting into android. i thought i was in a loop too. but wasn't the case. how long did you let yours sit for?. i just figured i'd try it to let you know how it went with my process through the ROM updater. you should most def give it another go for 2.1 tho

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

This is a weird one, I used the updater to upgrade to 2.1 and afterwords I had no contacts app or dialer. I restored back to an older backup of 2.0 and all was well. Anyone else experience something like this?

That is pretty weird never heard of anything like that ever. did you do a battery pull right after you went to 2.1? cause that may have had your issue resolved. But battery pulls are just force of habit for me after flashing my phone.

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

Hey I'm new here but I really love the roms and mods! Thank you for all your hard work, thanks to you we get to use our phones for their full potential! So with that said, since I have updated to Grom my sdcard continues to unmount intself. I have been switching between grom and optirom and have also tried messing with a2sd with no luck so I have removed the sd-ext partition and am back to stock grom 2.1 and the card continues to unmount itself. I was wondering if anybody has an idea of what I can do to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

Hey I haven't searched the thread to see if this has been posted yet and I haven't tested it too much but in regards to the rom updater force close from screen shot issue, I have noticed that when I get to the screen with the small screen shot, if I pull down my notifications bar and close it then back out to the main screen I don't get the force close. I don't know if it's just chance or if it's been noted already but if not I hope it helps!

Edit: So if this was a dumb post sorry, when I installed 2.1 I ran the rom updater and was getting force closes. Since I did that notification bar thing once I haven't gotten any so maybe I was just having an issue on my phone.

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

Hmmm i may just be trippin or my phone tryna act up. but since i got gROM 2.1 on my phone. my phone refuses to make a back up of it. I DON'T KNOW WHY!. but when i boot into android and connect my phone to the netbook and look in the folder. the back up i just created is in there! but it never went passed "Backing up cache". for 5 minutes straight. so i just pulled the battery out and rebooted as normal. tho i don't see why i would need a backup of the ROM since there's no other i'm switching to. But i don't know if its the ROM or just my recovery that's going bad.
