There is a like button. Hit it!

""Very strange! Did you try to wipe data / factory reset before flashing the second time? ""

No did not wipe anything, figured the updater had done that.

OK, it booted after wiping everything manually. thanks

Strange it didn't work for you!

Worked great. Updated with no problems. Loving the ROM Scott, seriously. Just out of curiosity, your modded host file, is it basically the same thing that adfree does or is this a better/different list? What is the sdcard memory tweak? Consider me ignorant. :P
The modded host file is a similiar to what adfree does. Except... you dont need an entire user interface. Its built into the ROM. The source files are from here: Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts File and Ad blocking with ad server hostnames and IP addresses. The files are merged togther to give you th ebest possible blocking exp. You can also take tha same file on the phone and use it on the PC. I do this all the time, lol. I havent seen an ad on the internet since the old school "pop-up" days! lol Ads? Ahahahaahahah.... Thats funny.

SD card tweak increases the SD card cache to improve read write speeds, you should notice gallery loads pics faster.

Yes

Oh, very cool. Sounds incredibly useful. This ROM just keeps better and better.

What he said!

Will I have to factory wipe/reset before I upgrade to 2.1 from 2.0 or can I just dirty flash it?

No, dirty is fine. The ROM itself will wipe what needs to be wiped. If however you get unexpected results then I would wipe in full.

This may be a dumb question and I'm assuming it's not possible, but is there anyway gROM could have a "custom" flash feature where you could select what apps/mods you want installed?

For example, I use SetCPU instead of No Frills. After flashing, I have to uninstall No Frills. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if I could choose not to install it at all. It's probably not possible, but it would be a really neat/nice feature.

Yes, its possible, there is a method for this. . Its called "open the zip file and remove what you dont want and add what you do want before flashing" method . If you do choose to go this route.. Remember to either A) re-sign the ROM or the easy way, B) Just turn off signature checking in recovery. You should have no problems.

That's what i'm sayin!!!.. this dude is on the go with his ROM.. it's like the more downloads the quicker he puts out an update. i literally check the site and be like "DAMN! lemme update again!!" lol but hey. the updates be sik n he's a very active ROM dev. cant complain bout that. besides. nothin but flawless work to. BIG + for that

Yes, if I see that people are finding the work useful I will work harder to make it better. If no one were to download it I would just kill it off. Take a look at my Evo 3D download stats. On a fresh release I can hit 700 downloads in 24 hours. Not too shabby. And that ROM gets updated like every 3 to 5 days... Well THOSE ROMS. I have three for the E3D

I just go on a rotation. When updates for apps are found, like Market 3.1.6 I will update the entire set of ROMS. I will then ensure every single APK in the RMO is the latest version. Then i wll confirm my choice of apps and any visual mods that I may choose to inject. Then Bam! I make it happen son. This holds true from Optimus to the 3D. Its not as hard as you think... Well, once you get a pattern its not as hard as you think.... I run this like a professional organization. I keep accurate change logs and have proven method of cyclic updates.

Another thing: I aint gonna lie... Donations motivate me to! :-$ lol!

That's usually the way it is. he's the 1st dev i see who is extremely active with his tho.. like wow!!

Indeed.

Hey I haven't searched the thread to see if this has been posted yet and I haven't tested it too much but in regards to the rom updater force close from screen shot issue, I have noticed that when I get to the screen with the small screen shot, if I pull down my notifications bar and close it then back out to the main screen I don't get the force close. I don't know if it's just chance or if it's been noted already but if not I hope it helps!

Edit: So if this was a dumb post sorry, when I installed 2.1 I ran the rom updater and was getting force closes. Since I did that notification bar thing once I haven't gotten any so maybe I was just having an issue on my phone.

Yeah, beleive it or not... SOmeone told me the same thing abou tthe FC when viewing screenshots... They said pull it down and put it back up. OR... Shut screen off and turn back on. Is that not the STRANGEST thing you ever heard?

Also, the bug is duely noted in the OP. You must have over looked it :-X But either way a few people told me that is the perfect work around. I have a app dev working ona complete re-write from the gorund up so hopefully he can make it better. This updater is just an open source project that can be found here: jfupdater - Allows auto updating to the latest modified Android OS - Google Project Hosting I am not into compiling code (any more) so I have tried to compile from scratch... I twas easier to take someone else's pre-compiled code, decompile, make the changes I wanted then recompile. I know, sounds ass backwards. Thats because it is. But it saved me so many DAYS of Dev time. lol

Hmmm i may just be trippin or my phone tryna act up. but since i got gROM 2.1 on my phone. my phone refuses to make a back up of it. I DON'T KNOW WHY!. but when i boot into android and connect my phone to the netbook and look in the folder. the back up i just created is in there! but it never went passed "Backing up cache". for 5 minutes straight. so i just pulled the battery out and rebooted as normal. tho i don't see why i would need a backup of the ROM since there's no other i'm switching to. But i don't know if its the ROM or just my recovery that's going bad.

Thats not a ROM issue. Recovery is as Recovery does. The ROM has nothing at all to do with what Recovery does. I know its co-incidental. I would look at backing up the important stuff on the SD card... Format it then try again. I bet its more SD card related than anything.

Re: [ROM] - gROM 2.1 - 10/8 - GB - OC'ed - Infinite Possibilities

well that pretty much. if not completely broke it down for me.. so if its my SD before anything. should i remove what i want to keep and just format the entire SD? If so that wouldn't be a problem at all seeing as how i would like to clear up some clutter on it. but if its my recovery tho? OFF TOPIC: but would you don't mind telling me if not just giving me a summary on how i fix it? BTW: didn't mean to speak ill of your ROM tho. i just never came across this kind of issue ever. and I've been through windows mobile and now android never had this issue. but like i said if you don't mind telling me how to go about the recovery thing awesome. but if you don't want to then all good homie. no biggie

I know this is a little off topic, but has anyone found a way to fix the issue with charging since the Gingerbread update? I still can not use my car charger anymore... I actually got this rom because I was hoping a custom rom would fix it, but no dice. All it did was get me hooked on the awesome rom, doing flashes all the time! not a bad thing, haha.

Oh no, I didint take offense at all man. I just try to explain as much as I can. Knowledge is king. If I get pissed at someone I just ignore them. lol

But yeah, I would really copy off whatever you want to save. Then format that card the long method in Windows (or whatever OS you may be on). Then boot and try nandroid. If that doesnt fix it I would be lost... PM me if that doesnt work. I am always done to figure out something new!

Hmmmm.... I am not sure about what causes the charging issue. Thats normally a kernel level issue and I am using Drew's kernel based of stock source so I dont really know. You can try it but I never had any charging issues from day one. LMK!

Did by chance make sure there is enough space on your SD card? If there is not enough room it will abort. I still use the 2gig card that came with the phone and have had this issue before

I am so used to using tapatalk to download my rom.zips but I had to go to my computer to figure out how to get it and then sideload it. I am excited to try this, my first offing into zvh roms was opti-rom but it didnt play very nice, so am now trying this. Hope it goes well !!

I think you mis-quoted. I think you mean to quote dude with the recovery issue and not the dude with charging issues, lol

Is it just me that the power control widget doesnt work? And wifi tether getting errors, and thus not working?

Nope, just you :-X Post #2 list the power control widget issue. Once you put it on you just need to reboot one time and all is well. Its weird little glitch I have not figured out how to fix yet. lol

As far as WiFi tether, it works. It just need to set it up properly. If someone can post the set up instructions again I will incorporate them in the Post #2.

Thanks,

-Scott

Okay, so i am just a giant tool then lol !!! Anyhow, i dont need the tether right away, so anytime with that info would be fine. Thanks scott, so far seems like a very nice nice rom!

I dont work with Cyanogen. You should check with Drew about that. I am more than happy with gROM as its pretty close to pure AOSP. Dont see any advantage to Cyanogen at this time. Cyanogen makes sense for devices with SenseUI or TouchWizUI, or MotoBlur... But this device is pretty bone AOSP from the get go minus the apps I added in.
