i am not a dev but i had those issues when i flashed zvh,so i reverted back to zvd, then flashed zvh again and rooted, and i updated gingerkernel everytime drew updated, and now my gRom optimus is working better than ever:):)

I didn't want to go thru the hassle to revert back and root again, so I just flashed GingerKernel 2.6.35.7 v08 so far I noticed a major improvement with my headset mic it seems to be working fine. Now lets see if it will help with the random shut offs.

P.S. I'm kind of new to rooting, custom roms, flashing, etc, I didn't know I can update the Kernel by itself. (well I don't know what a kernel is and what it's doing but I'll donate a few dollars for Drew for his time and effort)

You can install those yourself, it's a simple app install (for Flash) and flashing a zip (for GK v08).

Very true, but it's nice in the long-run for them to be integrated into my favorite ROM :). For the sake of others just starting out, I'd like to see gROM remain one of the most up-to-date ROMs. I really like its approach.

However, I'll probably try out your latest kernel within the next couple days, with or without a gROM update ;). Thank you for all your work, and for fixing the one ZVH-specific bug that really annoyed me.

Could you post where you found it? Thanks!

the threads are in this forum, with the titles Flash 10.2, Flash 10.3, and Flash 11.0, it really isn't hard to find. now lets keep this thread related to gROM.

Hi, I flashed the Grom 2.2 running android 2.3.3 on my lg optimus s and it reverted to android 2.2 and i have no service for my phone. Do you know what the issue is? It could be me, very easily, as this was my first flash. Thank god for nandroid backup.

Sounds like you flashed gROM, which is VH-based, on a phone that still has the VD radio. You'll need to flash the official Sprint-provided VH ROM in order to get the VH radio before flashing gROM. All instructions are in the sticky thread about rooting VH. Congrats on the nandroid backup! An important but overlooked step.

Btw,I'm far from lazy, I searched several places just missed it. There's always someone here to chastise folks
That's OK. Thanks for the info anyway

Oh yeah, if I'm not mistaken flash is included in this grom and my question seems relevant
I thought that's what the forum is all about.

And that's why I wont jump ship on you! Question: Are those system level performance and battery tweaks in the systemui.apk? I just want to make sure I'm not foregoing the benefits of your ROM just for a drop down menu.

Thanks!

No performance tweaks are not in that APK. They are in various other places such as build prop and script files that execute when you boot the phone up.

For me, I'd love to see an update that incorporates Flash 10.3 and the new v08 kernel (I hate that double-tap issue!) :D.

Eventually. I almost have a 4 day weekend coming up this weekend. I just have to work Saturday but have Thursday, Friday, and Sunday off. I am sure I will knock out an update then.

Indeed!
Hey Scott, I donated a few dollars (transaction ID #157460675X891303T) thanks for your work, keep it up! gROM is great, I just have few issues I don?t think it?s caused by gROM but I wish you can solve it with the next update.

a) Random shut off, my phone randomly shuts off once a day or once in a few days, and I can't turn the phone back on unless I remove the battery for a moment. This is very annoying and I missed some important calls because I didn?t notice that my phone was off

b) Lost call sound through headphone jack, my headset was working fine until Gingerbread update. Lately I can no longer use my headset for calls because the mic doesn't always work. Headset mic works fine with other voice apps on my phone but not for calls and also the headset mic works fine on other phones and devices.

a) For giggels try turning the speed of the kernel down to 600MHZ using the CPU controller app. I wonder if you have one of the devices that just cant run at that speed.

b) Hmmmm..... I think this is VH related.

Strange you had to go that route but nothing really surprises me, lol

Sounds that way to me too.

I just read a bunch of threads to see how to check that out. I believe that my phone is VH. The build number is ZVH.41FEDAD5 and the SW Version is LS670ZVH. If I'm VH then what do you think the problem is, or if you know of a thread that references this, I'll be glad to read it. I've been reading a ton of threads over the past few weeks to try to get familiar with flashing and other things 'cause I really want to get into this. I thank you for your help.

Thanks for the reply. My GPS was working fine on Reborn ROM, but searching through this thread, it looks like at least several people have had GPS issues with gROM. Perhaps it was the ZVH update that killed my GPS...

I really like gROM and don't want to have to switch, but if I can't get GPS working...

Update: Tried installing Your Mom ROM, and GPS is still not working at all. Apparently it is a ZVH issue. Dang it! Back to ZVD...

I have not had any GPS issues at all. Ive used the GPS and Navigation extensively over my travels. Id say Navigation and Maps are a lot better as I dont have the problem where Maps would crash on me every time (Froyo bug)

Id suggest rolling back to ZVD and starting from scratch.
Did you do a cache/dalvik wipe? Id suggest this before rolling back too.

Yep, you are in ZVH. You need to follow the correct procedure to roll back to ZVD. There is another post on this forum explaining this.

Deleted the Sense Clock widget by mistake includedwith the rom.

Any way to get that back without re-flashing the rom?
Download the rom, open it up with winzip, locate the /data/app folder. The apks should be there.
Just copy the sense clock apk to your phone, then install it from there using a file browser.

Quick question about the homescreen menu. When I flashed an earlier build of gROM I could've sworn the middle option in the upper row was "Manage Applications."

After I flashed OptiROM and then came back to gROM (full wipe, data/cache/dalvik) the Manage Apps option isn't in the homescreen menu anymore. In fact, the menu is identical to that in Opti, with only "Add" and "Wallpaper" listed in the top row.

Anyone have any info on this? I would love to have the Manage Apps option back in there rather than having to get to it through the settings menu.

Hm... From what I have read, some phones have no problem at all with ZVH, and some have major issues. Losing GPS has been the only issue I've had. From what I've seen, it seems like a hassle to go back to ZVD, then lose all my apps/data again coming back up to ZVH. :P Oh, and I always wipe cache and dalvik when flashing a new ROM.

Could I make a Nandroid, revert to ZVD, upgrade to ZVH stock, and then restore the Nandroid? Or would that defeat the whole purpose? I'm don't know exactly everything that a Nandroid backup includes.

Thanks

Do you mean backup the apps using titanium backup?
Nandroid is a full backup, as far as I know. Ti backup can do apps alone.

So I have no idea how or why but when it booted it up after flashing the rom, I discovered I'd lost a lot of very important contacts. I tried de-syncing and re-syncing my google account a bunch of times, no avail. Checked online and sure enough, they're gone now. Frankly I'm not sure how I'm going to get their numbers back. Wifi did not work for me either. I'm sure it's a good rom for most people, just kinda screwed me :-\

Don't worry. Your Gmail contacts can be restored to any point in the last 30 days.

OK, chalk this up to me being on the lower end of the knowledge base. I'm now running gROM 2.2. What happened is that I was trying to install CleanROM 2.2. I know, definately a rookie move, but I thank you people for the help you offered.

I found an article online about that and I got really excited thinking my butt was saved, but I went all the way back and it still didn't recover them unfortunately. Does anyone know if I can go to Sprint and have them print out the numbers I've texted recently so I can get them back?

Edit: It's almost as if the only contacts I've lost were the ones since the last gingerbread update, I dunno why that would make a difference but every contact I lost was added after the most recent OTA update I accepted.

Also I guess I should add that I had a tough time un-rooting and going back to stock. Right now I'm running SW version LS670ZVD, android 2.2.2, and I know that's not the version I was running before I rooted and installed this rom. Whenever I go to do a system update through my phone it just tells me my system is currently up to date. If I remember correctly I was running android 2.3.4 or something like that, 2.3 something. Thanks for any help you can provide.
