Don't laugh... please.... can I do the mobile Odin directly from my device? And how?

Re: [ROM][July 25, 2012] Android Open Kang Project [Stable 1]

So I DL the stable one from op and then how do I launch mobile Odin? Like I said in another post before today, I am still new to all the terminology and procedures

Okay, another newb question. I just finished setting up my phone after flashing the RC5 build. How do I back up all of my settings and everything so I don't have to do everything from scratch after flashing this new rom?

Titanium backup. The data should be ok to keep. If you start having issues please do a full wipe before reporting. I dont want to chase ghost bugs. :p

Download the el26 tar file with cwm5 built in.
[KERNELS][CWM][ODIN] Kernel Repository - Download Them All Here - xda-developers

Open mobile odin and click on "kernel"

Locate the tar file and select it

Scroll down and hit "flash firmware"

Yes to md5 check

Now phone will reboot. Once you see the Galaxy S2 screen pull your battery. Your phone won't boot all the way if you are on ICS and just flashed a gingerbread kernel, that is why you pull the battery at the galaxy s2 screen.

Reinsert battery and boot into recovery.

Flash rom and gapps and all that other fun stuff

Factory reset and most my issues disappeared. Will report once apps re install and I put the Phase Beam wallpaper back on.

What is the recommended modem? Is that the same as the recommended kernel in the OP?

Re: [ROM][July 25, 2012] Android Open Kang Project [Stable 1]

I think I am in over my head here. I have to select and change the modem too? Is there any benefits of this rom over the current m6 rc4
I am running?

the modem change is only a suggestion. If you want to change it, just flash it like you did the rom. It's FF18 and runs well. Also, I was running RC4 earlier and although it had a few bugs, it seemed better than the stable build.

I re flashed the stable build after a full wipe and odin to El26. Still seems slower than RC4. Ideas?

Re: [ROM][July 25, 2012] Android Open Kang Project [Stable 1]

You don't need to change the modem if you don't want to. Different modems give varied results. If the one you are using now works well then there is no sense in changing it. I just upgraded to the FF18 one because it's newer and I'd hoped it was optimized. I might try a few others though since the FF18 seems like a downgrade from EL29 on my E4GT.

Slower like screen lag or what?

I'm planning on flashing the SB but I'm in no hurry because RC4 is flawless. It's the smoothest rom I've ever ran. I suppose I can always nandroid back if SB1 doesn't fare as well.

Quadrant scores went up a tiny bit. But screen lag is my main issue, it's everywhere. It's really bad with swiping away notifications or recent apps. Also the pixelation problem. I'll be flashing back to RC4, or stock ICS if I can find it.
