[ROM] Reborn ROM v2.1 5/13/11

Any way to get an option so that the front keys can be pressed to unlock the phone. I know this is minimal, but I forget all the time to use the top button.

I think that was sorta one of the main features of this rom, seems to me that there is probably a way around it by using a tool or editing a file. I doubt they will change the rom.

After I flashed the BumbleBee Kernel the front keys now wake it.

Buttonremapper. Search market for it.

Has anyone gotten an app2ext or data2ext solution working with this rom?

If so, which script?

Yep, you need to use the one I modified (it adds the binaries and libs). Get it here.

Dang it! I spoke too soon. When I boot up everything seems fine. The storage is reported correctly as my ext free space. I can even install my apps, but when I reboot, all of the apps I installed are removed. It only retains what was installed at the time that I enabled app2ext.

This is giving me a headache. I've been trying to get this to work all day. I either end up with FC on most apps or the above situation where all the apps disappear on reboot.

Why was this so much easier on Rodimus?

Are you using ext4? Maybe check to see if it has errors? I know you can repair the ext partition in RA-thunderc-v-1.2.0-GNM. I am not sure about other recoveries.
(Partition sdcard>Repair SD:ext)

I walked my brother threw this over text, and he has been using it fine on his V.

Yes it's ext4, and I've tried formatting it a few times/checking for errors. The only thing I haven't tried is using that recovery. I'm a little tried of this, so I'll try it some other day. Maybe after this rom is updated. This is a nice rom though. Thanks for the help.

Not sure if you can do the commands before the zip is applied...but...I had the issue with apps just poofing away when I installed asop 4/27. My process is as always, flash rom, flash gapps, and then the data2ext script. Reboot and run commands via adb and reboot again. With something in the lastest build of asop you have to do the commands first. Then flash the zip.

So maybe that applies here.

I'm going to try this one more time. I think the problem is that different recoveries setup your partitions differently. When I loaded thunderc, it wouldn't even recognize my sd-ext partition. Here are the steps I am going to take:

  1. Back up micro-sd card
  2. Flash thunderc recovery
  3. Partition the micro-sd card
  4. Upgrade to ext4.
  5. Restore micro-sd card
  6. Put everything that is going to be flashed in a folder labeled 00 (so that you can reach it through the menus)
  7. Flash Rom
  8. Flash modified data2ext
  9. Boot into rom
  10. Restore main apps using Titanium Backup
  11. Run formatting commands
  12. Enable data2ext
  13. Reboot
  14. Restore remaining apps using Titanium Backup

Does that sound right to everyone? Is there any reason flashing the Bumblebee Kernel would break any of this?

(I do the two step Titanium restore to make sure my main apps work if the SD card fails.)

Everything seems to have worked now. There was one small snag that I hit following the above procedure. After the nameless rom loaded for the first time /etc/mtab was deleted for some reason. I fixed it using the following commands:

Code:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /system /system
cp /proc/mounts /etc/mtab
reboot

Also, if I flash the Bumblebee Kernel, the first time I boot up everything goes to crap. After a reboot everything seems to be fixed. But then the next reboot everything is crap again. I'm not sure what's wrong.

Update: I think I figured out the reboot bug. If I use the power button's built in reboot, it is using some sort of fast reboot that doesn't run the /system/etc/init.d/ scripts. If I do a full off and then on, I don't have any problems.

Update 2: I spoke too soon. I randomly get all my apps missing when I restart completely too.... I give up on Bumblebee...

One last issue is that the thunderc recovery give me an error when I try to make a nand + ext backup, which really sucks.

I had a few issue's with data2ext with bumblebee also. With Nameless, picasticks, and my modified data2ext zip, it always worked, after every reboot.

Just installed and says I don't have root access. Can't use any apps that require root. Keeps saying root access denied. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Using BB rom/kernel I never have problems using link2sd and I never have to go through all the hoops to do it. It is the main reason I haven't stuck with nameless for more than a day or so. I dig the rom just don't want to have to do all that other stuff since I jump roms so often would be a pain to jump back. :)

Or BB kernel with any rom except this one. :(
