is it possible to change out the launcher icons? i'd like to be able to put Tapatalk or Google voice where the contacts button is.

Just in case this helps someone else out, I missed having the Voice Dialer app on here, (so I could use my bluetooth to call someone without touching the phone.

In the spirit of "help thyself before demanding a zip from the devs"...to get it back, (at least this worked for me):

  • Download the Voice Dialer.zip from the nROM webpage .
  • Unzip the zip to your SD Card
  • Open up ES File Explorer, (is it included with Nameless? not sure, my Titanium might have restored it...if you don't have ES, download it from the market)
  • Click the "Menu" hardkey, tap "Settings", "Root Options", Enable Root Explorer checkbox, hit OK for HAIPK, enable Mount File System
  • Go to where you unzipped the zip file, go to "system" in the zip file, then "app"
  • Long press on VoiceDialer.apk and hit copy.
  • Click the "Home" button at the top left to get to /, navigate to /system/app
  • Paste the Voicedialer.apk
  • Go back into Settings->Root Options and disable both checkboxes, (or else ES will crash when you try to use it in the future).

Done.

(You could probably just flash the dumb zip, actually....I just realized this is all pointless.....I did this stuff on nROM to keep Nick's custom key mapping, which flashing the zip will revert, but now realized that there is no custom key mapping in Nameless.....which means I just wrote all this up for no damn good reason )

Just a fyi, I went to nicks website and downloaded the vm app and installed it through file manager and it seems to work fine. Could it be that flashing no iq when voicemail was previously present messes up provisioning? When I first installed it, it had to reproviion itself for vm.

Yep. Installing it in that order worked for me too (didn't try the other order). What I did have trouble with was restoring all my saved voice messages with Titanium Backup. I tried several combinations, but the only time it worked was when I restored all three of "[VOICEMAIL] Dialer 2.2.2," "[SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage 2.2.2," and "Voicemail T.5.1.0.52" (it only gave me the option for Data Only when I restored that, so I figured it wouldn't mess up the vvm from Nick's site), then restarted immediately. I had restored pretty much everything already, but I had to redo this after I'd installed the apk from Nick. Does anyone know in which of those packages the voicemail messages actually reside?

Side note: Anyone know how to just extract the voicemails themselves and end up with 3g2 files or whatever?

for gps it works on googlemaps but not weather forcast and clock wideget(so i just put in my zip no biggie)

I can confirm similar behavior on my phone. News & Weather doesn't even try to turn on GPS to get a location, although GPS works in all my other apps (Maps, Navigation, Yelp.)

If by news and weather you mean the geniewidget.apk (which shows as news and weather in your app drawer), that doesn't use GPS. It uses network triangulation.

1) Menu > Settings > location & security - check mark use wireless network
2) Open your app drawer and open the news and weather application
3) Menu > Settings > weather settings - check mark use my location

Now refresh it .....

Network triangulation should not be confused with GPS, they are separate services and controlled by separate permission.

To enable GPS, which again, genie widget doesnt even use:
1) Menu > Settings > loaction & security - check mark use gps satellites

Sure enough, you're right and that fixed it.

awesome, glad to hear your up. Be careful with the refresh interval on that, polling for weather and news every 30 or 60 minutes can make a little ding in the battery. Nothing major but worth being aware of. Especially when you think ... is facebook polling? Do you have a weather/clock widget polling? now you have genie widget polling, any other social networking services polling like twitter? Myspace? on and on and on ..... when you look at it like that, someone could literally have 10 different services polling every 30 minutes, you can eat up a battery in no time.

Quit Facebook and Twitter that will fix your poll.

Since I mainly use News to kill time when I'm waiting on something, it's set to only refresh every six hours.

With on-demand scaling through SetCPU and the general awesomeness of Nameless, though, I'm getting great battery life so far. Just checked my stats and I'm down to 65 percent after more than seven hours off the charger, and that's with some pretty heavy usage (Facebook, Twitter, web, Angry Birds, several calls.)

I am having the phone lock up at the Android boot screen. I flashed the ROM this morning. Cleared Data, Dalvik and Cache. Flashed the ROM, let it fully reboot. Then went back to recovery and flashed a theme and stock buttons, rebooted and proceeded to set the phone back up. A couple hour later, after getting the phone the way I like I rebooted and it locked up at the Android boot screen. I waited about 15 min, with nothing happening. Removed battery and tried booting it again, no luck. So I booted into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik reloaded the Rom, rebooted and it did load. Then I rebooted into recovery flashed the theme, rebooted and now it's locking again. Any suggestions? I'm going to try it again and load a different theme.

I've bolded and underlined the step from post #1 that i believe you missed. My guess is you flashed the ROM, skipped step 5, flashed noIQagent.

I have the same problem as well. I let Nameless boot fully and then go back into recovery and make a nand backup before flashing. once rebooted, it remains at the LG logo screen.

Linked is the log dump from the phone starting up after applying theme_stock.zip
Nameless Logcat on Pastebin
/dev/log/system begins on line 111.

Logcat would repeat the same thing over until the phone is disconnected. Looking at it I can't really tell where it actually starts looping.

Hope this helps, I think it's limited to the stock theme but have not tried stock /w battery mod.

Do me a solid please and try a different theme to see if the results are the same. It would help a ton. If not We'll (one of us) will get around to it very soon but I'm setting up the poll for naming the ROM :p

Alright, I cleared cache and dalvik and reflashed Rom, let it reboot. I then flashed NoIQ and stock buttons and it would reboot. I am wondering if my problem lied within the Steel My Elegance theme. I will let you know if I have any more problems.

a little confused on the over clocking and kernal thing. is over clocking built in to this? what kernals do you recommend if i have to flash one?

NP. I tried stock modded and steel my elegance. No issues by themselves or even switching between them, haven't tried them all, but I think the results will remain the same, that only the stock theme causes the problem.

Have you changed anything with your kernel? Example OC? A theme is basically images so a theme wouldnt cause random reboots. Kind of like hanging a picture on your wall at home isnt going to cause random electricity spikes in your house. Once it boots it boots. Theres more to the boot loop story.

EDIT - Heres an example of a person who was having random reboots because they OC'ed their processor to high.

I removed the theme for repairs. Thanks for the report.
