Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.3 - 7/17/11

I did the upgrade this morning. Did a complete wipe. Battery life seemed to go down. Maybe its just me.

Did you enable the battery tweak from http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s-rooting-roms-hacks/102280-mod-collin_ph-battery-tweak-4.html I am wondering which setting works best for us optimus s users...I am running setting #4 806mhz, if it eats the battery I will lower, but the tweak does not run it at 806 all the time I think only when plugged in...

google music is so sluggish. slowing entire phone down. is it just me?

google music is sluggish, but it isn't slowing your entire phone down. If you would like music mod again it is in the market, however, I highly recommend zimly. I absolutely love that player.

2.2.3 is working smoothly and has been running fine since released. I did a clean install wiping everything before and reinstalled all apps, bookmarks, etc. with titanium. Great work.

I will install 2.2.3 to test out VPN if you still don't have a tester. I have a few of these Optimus S's from eBay just to play with and tweak, but need an MMS solution for MetroPCS.

Side note: On my beater phone I have CM7 working quite impressive. It's FAST scores #'s like stock EVO.

Hey I was just wondering what the curved arrow with the slash through it that is right next to the volume/brightness setting does. I have read almost every page and cannot seem to find it.

Hey nick, great work on the new Rom, I love it. I was also wondering if you get some extra time, if you could port the launcher from the optimus black/2x to our mdpi s's. I've checked everywhere and I don't think it's been done yet. No rush, just a request for whenever you get some free time :)
Thanks again for the excellent roms!

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.3 - 7/17/11

When upgrading from say 2.2.1 to 2.2.2, or 2.2.2 to 2.2.3, it should just be necessary to wipe dalvik and cache right? Cause on my 2.2.1 the market quit working. Upgraded to 2.2.2 and it still didn't work. Wiped data and went stock. Worked. And has worked on my data wiped 2.2.2 install. When I go 2.2.3, I want to make sure I'm not missing anything...i could be having a brain fart(probably) :)

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.3 - 7/17/11

I know that it was mentioned earlier in this thread that you're able to customize the widgets that show up in the pull-down "PowerControl" menu in this ROM. Before I proceed though, does anyone know if removing one of the widgets completely makes the other button larger as well, or is there just now a blank spot in the widget list? In other words, I get VERY tired of accidentally hitting the Bluetooth toggle widget (which, lacking a headset, I never, ever use) when I'm trying to hit the screen brightness toggle. I'd like to remove that widget completely. If I do so though via editing the text file, will that increase the width of the other buttons to fill the area, or will it just now be "Wireless | blank | Brightness"?

Thanks in advance.

2.2.3 has the updated market. You should be able to just wipe dalvik and cache, but if you continue to have problems, a full wipe will be necessary.

I did this before, and it did make the five remaining buttons bigger to fill the void. It looked really good too.

Re: [ROM] Reborn ROM v2.2.3 - 7/17/11

See this thread:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s-rooting-roms-hacks/78229-rom-reborn-rom-v2-2-3-7-17-11-a-80.html#post884373

Basically, you would just remove (or replace) which ever one you want.

TIP: Make sure to keep the same text format and no spaces.

Yep, just did that and it worked great. Might mention though (as it's not stated in that post) that in order to be able to edit that file, you'll have to remount the /system partition as read/write instead of read-only, and then do a chmod 666 on the widgets.txt file. I undid both of those changes before rebooting, but not sure if that's essential?

Possibly related (though I didn't notice before I did this widgets.txt change): with Reborn 2.2.3, I notice now that the space above the widgets (where it used to say "Reborn") is now completely blank? Is anyone else seeing that, or is it a side-effect of editing the widgets.txt file?

Thanks.

Are you roaming? When you roam, no text appears in that field.
