Just wanted to check and see if anyone else can verify the bug I'm seeing? I use SetCPU still with this ROM, just to tune down the top-end to 729 instead of 748, since my phone can get a LITTLE flaky with extended use at that speed. Perhaps it's a placebo, but that's beside the point, heh. I have SetCPU setup to set 729-245 at boot, along with the governor set to "smartass". However, in the past few days I'd noticed that from time to time I'd look in and the governor was set back to "ondemand" automatically. I've finally traced it down, at least for my phone, to the act of Enabling USB Mode with it plugged into the computer, and then disconnecting. EVERY time I do this, the setting in SetCPU for governor changes back from "smartass" to "ondemand". Not a huge deal as long as I remember to go back in and switch it back, but it would be nice if anyone else can confirm this?

I've tried this few times with the Smartass setting and mine stays set and doesn't revert to ondemand. I have Smartass at 806 max, 245 min, screen off profile ondemand of 480 max, 122 min, and charging profile ondemand of 600 max, 122 min because I didn't want to get too hot while charging. Maybe the settings you have have might be a factor? I've enabled/disabled USB in debugging mode on and off as well.

Edit: I'm also on v. 2.2.2 ReBorn ROM

yes, as a rule of thumb wipe cache and dalvik but not data when upgrading a ROM unless otherwise instructed.

First of all, thanks _so much_ for your work with this handset!! I'm really happy with your Reborn Rom. Working with it helped me start to learn a little about some basic Android Dev projects I've been wanting to take on.

Second, I have a question for you (tried to write a PM, but i don't have enough posts). My apologies if it has been asked before, I certainly don't mean to waste your time. I did spend some time searching for both of these issues before reaching out


I've noticed that Airplane Mode is active after each reboot, then right after Airplane Mode is disabled, i get a "Enjoy the ROM" notification.

Is there a way to disable these two events? Is this a problem that may have occurred during flashing? I tried to re-wipe and re-flash a few times, but the problem persists. Any suggestions?

Yep, the app is called xtr50fix.apk. You can uninstall or freeze it with titanium backup.

Can't find this, where exactly is it installed at? /data/app or /system/app did not have it, I even tried "find / -name x*apk" and capital X*apk with no success.

TWS = Time without signal.

There is a bug in 2.2 versions and earlier of Android which report the GSM and CDMA time when reporting the time without signal stat. People see the number as 50% (100% CDMA / 0% GSM = 50% time without signal) and they completely freak out and believe their phone is being sucked of life. This simple APK switches on airplane mode after booting for 12 seconds then turns it of. In doing so it forces Android to report only the CDMA time. If you have it, dont have it, add it later, delete it later .... your battery life will remain the same.

Have a question. Every now and then I'll get a crash by just opening gallery. Any suggestions?

You can try a different gallery app. Stock gallery is lagfest anyways IMO

If you are having issues with VPN, just replace VpnServices.apk in /system/app with the same application from any other ROM besides Reborn 2.2, 2.2.1, or 2.2.2

I'll have an update to fix this later.

Does anybody have the gtalk apk. I accidently deleted it....I could do a restore but thought this would be easier thanks....
