[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

Loving the ROM so far, I've solved my bluetooth issues by removing all the devices from my car stereo and re-pairing. I'll let you know if it pops up again.

My next discovery is that after I connected to my exchange server that forces PIN/Password lock I can't configure the time out value before I have to put the PIN in. For example, now, when I sleep my phone by hitting the power button, when I wake it up, I have to re-enter my PIN/password. There should be a configurable grace period up to the limit the policy sets (in my case 15 minutes). I just set this up on a stock Evo running froyo with Sense, but can't find the option in the Truely Epic ROM on my Epic. I hadn't tried it on the 2.1 stock email app.

Also applying any of the Mod .zip files listed on the first page don't seem to do anything. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I put them on my SD card, reboot into clockwork using the Vol down + Camera + Power method. I then go to install zip file, select it and it looks like it runs ok. When I back out and reboot, nothing has changed.

Any thoughts?

Been using this ROM for about a week, and like it very much.

Having some weird wifi issues though. Specifically. performance on wifi is sometimes truly awful. I'll start a download, and it will trickle along a few KB at a time. I can switch to wimax, and everything is fine. Also, I'll occasionally have wifi just lock up, so that I can't turn it on. I end up having to reboot to fix that.

Other than that though, very happy. Thanks again.

Hey Ragnarokx...thanks for the great work! ROM works great - FOR THE MOST PART

A few issues I had:

1) I have a large (17000+) number of text messages that I have saved up from like 2006 or so that worked fine on DI18/RFS stock, but on TER 1.2 the system crashed numerous times, and works very slowly accessing these. Isn't EXT4 supposed to help with this?

2) Calls/data work great, but text messages don't send! They're just stuck on "sending..." and I don't know what to make of it...

Help pl0x?

I think I'm finally going to take the plunge and try this out.

One question, however: I'm currently on stock Eclair and have a Titanium Backup setup with over 100 apps. Will I be able to take my Titanium backup and restore all apps on a Froyo ROM with Ext4 and many other changes? (apps only, I assume I shouldn't try to restore settings, and that I should use the ROM upgrade mode on Titanium).

Maybe Ragnarokx has a different answer to this but I would say you should considering doing some house cleaning on your text messages. I don't find it strange at all 17000+ msgs would cause a system to fail.

Don't take it the wrong way I just don't see the point in saving that many texts especially from almost 5 yrs ago.

I've been getting this problems too on and off, could be a bug, i haven't reported it, I did reported a MMS bug but i haven't heard any reply from ragnarok about this, though about the SMS-textmessages= I have this same problem too, and if anything it takes a while before the text is sent, and i find myself having to restart the phone and resending the messages.

Yes you can definately try restoring apps/data but not settings. I would recommend making a backup in CWM of before you apply your Titanium backup so if things fail you can restore in CWM.

The backup that you restored of your text messages is causing conflicts. Paul is right - you should delete them and start new ones. If that doesn't work, you'll have to flash the ROM again. Sorry but it looks like you won't be able to keep them.

Since you'd be restoring apps from an odex system to a deodexed one, you'll run into problems if you do that. You need to re-download them from the Market this one time. Once you make a backup on a custom ROM, you'll then be able to restore that backup on other custom ROMs so this shouldn't be a problem in the future.

Thanks. Can I use an app like AppSaver to at least move all .apks to a directory on the SD so I don't have to download all apps from the market again (not to mention apps that aren't even from the market)?

Edit: from reading around, it appears the answer is no. :( What is the best way to make a list of market, and non-market sideloaded apps? And will the Market restore work for all apps, or just paid ones?

I actually didn't restore them through a backup program like Titanium or MyBackup Root - I use SMS+ Backup, which conserves all my texts through Gmail IMAP and then just syncs them back (takes forever too). I've been meaning to clean them up, but I just haven't gotten around to it. Ah well. I'm reverting back to stock DI18 (since based on: Sprint tweets FroYo updating coming to Samsung Epic 4G as soon as possible – Android and Me) I can't imagine it'll take too long to get official 2.2 (and then eventually Cyanogen!)

Great work on everything though. I'll be keeping a close watch on TER

IIRC on Eclair paid apps are saved in the Market, but free ones are not. Once you're on Froyo and move between ROMs, the Market automatically redownloads and reinstalls all your apps (free and paid) for you. Not sure about how to make a list besides with notepad, sorry.

I am quite pleased you changed the smiley key to the @ symbol, thank you!

no, i mean the add-ons (ex. froyo email app, restore bubble sms, etc.) that u flash with cw3. anyway to revert them back to trulyepic?

Let my battery run all the way down today and when I finally charged the battery and rebooted it got stuck in an endless loop :( Only thing I could do was to reflash the ROM, which wiped everything out :( BUMMER.

I have to say that I am surprised that the Market at least can't remember what apps were originally installed and let you re-install them. This is were WebOS was very good. Oh well, back to the drawing board, re-install all my apps (and then do a back up this time) and re-do my home pages :) Still love the ROM.

You should always make a backup in Clockwork before flashing mods so you can easily revert. If you didn't do this, you can manually reinstall the original apps.

Extract the TrulyEpic Rebirth zip file on your computer, and go to /system/app. The two you referred to are called "Email.apk" and "MMS.apk", respectively. Place these apk files onto your SD card, and then use Root Explorer to copy them to the /system/app directory of your phone. Make sure the email and sms/mms apps are not running when you do this.

If you're on Froyo (which you are if you're using this ROM), the Market can remember all your apps. Go to Settings>Privacy and check the boxes next to "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore". Next time you flash a Froyo ROM, all your apps will be automatically redownloaded and reinstalled.

I had both of those checked already, but no automatic re-downloading at all.
