[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

A word of warning for those that used the battery mod app with the previous theme and want to go to v1.5. I tried just flashing over v1.5 but then I ran into problems with phone taking 5 mins to get past the Galaxy S screen, eventually booting into my home screen only to have the process system hang. Had to do a battery pull and cwm restore.

I need some advice please. I flashed TER a few days ago and everything but battery life was great. Then yesterday my Epic started lagging and checker boarding when loading or scrolling web pages. Also battery life has realy gotten bad. I uninstalled every app I installed since flashing but that did not help. Would reflashing TER help or do I need to go all the way back to 2.1 and start over?

I would make a backup of at least your data with MyBackUp and then wipe 3x in CWM and flash TER again. That would be a good starting point that doesn't take very long before you go starting back at stock.

Going all the way back to 2.1 and starting over would be my absolute last resort. I'd reflash TER to see if it might help. If not, I'd probably just reflash the rom after clearing data/factory restore, clear cache, advanced>clear dalvik cache. I normally do each at least twice to make sure. Then right after I'd flash the TER. After using the older TER for about a month I also got strange problems after flashing the new TER.

I did many flashes over the Mini Theme 1.0 and Mini Theme 1.5 and encountered no such troubles I had to do this to troubleshoot some bugs and never encountered any problems. Any time you do flash something your initial boot will be a longer wait after that every boot will return to normal.

I'm not saying that it didn't happen, but in the dozen or so times I flashed and flashed again back and forth over both themes for troubleshooting I never had any troubles.

Yep I thought it was just going to take awhile. When it finally got passed the screen I got an android window popup saying "The process system has stopped responding" and a close button. Click closed and phone hanged. Tried rebooting after that and could not get past the S screen even after waiting 20 mins, then I decided to restore. No one else seems to have gotten this problem though, I seem to get all the strange bugs :P

@Ricey20, yes I know what your saying about the luck of the bugs.. I get that strange luck myself sometimes.. LOL.

I was wondering if there was a good forum and/or post about how to use the rom manager???

I have also been reading about this Amon Ra's Recovery and if its available for the epic???

Don't use ROM Manager - get comfortable with working directly in Clockwork. Sure the GUI isn't as pretty, but you will greatly minimize potential problems by skipping the ROM Manager middleman. The only thing I use ROM Manager for is deleting old backups.

Clockwork is the only game in Epictown as of now.

Ahhh ok yeah thats why when I click on download roms there is nothing there...I will have to try and get my money back for paying for the premium version but idk if that will happen(stupid google 15 min trial period is wayy too short)...

I don't mind using clockwork just wanted to see what it was all about and stuff lol

ok cool thanks.

By the way every time I installed the Truely epic rebirth rom, the screen always lagged and sometimes it was not responsive. Do you have any idea why that is? I tried everything you put up. I'm not sure if it's because i did not have a clean dk28 install, i just updated the modem and pit (wiped everything as well three times); Got the ext4 and clockwork 3 and then flashed your rom. The phone kept freezing and the only way I could anything is put the sleep and wake it up in order to use it.

Another problem I also had is when the battery said zero percent, if i turned on the phone, it would keep rebooting nonstop. Just thought i should let you know, i don't know if other people had that problem as well.

Sorry if this is a dumb question or has been asked before. (I don't remember seeing it when I last read through the thread).

Now, I remember reading that Froyo can't be overclocked on the epic yet, because the code hasn't been released, therefore modified kernals can't be made (or something like that....I'm new to this).
That being said, is it possible to underclock on this using Setcpu?

Try removing the SD card and see if that helps.

I'd assume so, but I haven't done it personally.

That's the only recourse I have for you, sorry.

ack, god bubble chat is ugly as hell , they should of let us customize it.
thanks Rag!
btw you did mentioned that when i flash the Bubble Chat, i could always revert back the to stock TER MMS, by Copying the MMS.apk ( from the link you provided at xda) back to the system/app right?

Yes it is possible. I've been running set cpu 100 to 1000 mhz since first installing this rom with no problems. Seems to run same as it did with 2.1

lately whenever i make a call with this rom it would go through 50% of the time. When i receive a call it would work perfectly fine but when i try to make a call it won't ring and i can't hear the other side. The only thing that would work would be to try again and then the call would work fine. Is there anything that would resolve this issue?

This feature is working on mine still.

I double checked to make sure I wasn't being a noob. I was hoping that was the case. Unfortunately, not the case.

So I cannot lock my screen with the power button anymore. Any ideas on how I can fix this one short of reinstalling the whole package?

This is a known bug, not related to this ROM specifically. I'm not sure if its hardware related (Samsung) or what. Its happened on stock Eclair and on Froyo. You can try toggling your speaker phone on and off real quick when this happens and it will usually fix the situation.

This has been posted before, you can read a bit more about it here.
