Installed and it works now
Am I doing something wrong? I installed that apk- then when I try to run the app it reboots the phone. Not even a force close- just a reboot.
Paul, I thought I fixed this- but ever since loading 1.7 theme, I have a force close error with google services framework... I cleared the data for that in the manage applications... but that doesn't help- I still get the FC when I reboot the phone, and when I try to enable wifi. I think everything works, but the FC error always coming up is annoying.
Try booting into Clockwork, and select fix permissions.
Amazing job guys.... The 1.7 Theme solved my email issue, probably because it returned the gtab version. I don't know of anything else that could make this phone any better. FYI I went from a 1400 quadrant score on 1.2 to a 1800 Quadrant score on 1.5, not saying that everyone will see that but this phone is extremely fast. This phone has become everything it should be.
Just flashed to the update from 1.2 and had an email fc (resolved with clear data) and still get a fc when I try wifi tether. The link posted above for an updated wifi tether is not working for me (500 Server Error).
Is there a new link for wifi tether v3 0-pre3.apk?
Otherwise works great Benchmark went from mid 1400s to upper 1600s.

Just download it to your SD card and install from sd card with Astro or Root Explorer. I installed it right over my existing Wireless Tether, no problem.
Seems like Google is having some problems atm. Here is a mirror for the updated WiFi Tether:
wifi_tether_v3_0-pre3
If the included version of WiFi Tether force closes on you, this should fix it.

Funny you should mention that- I tried that before seeing your post and it resulted in a circular reboot (constant). (Just my luck)
Go figure. I wound up reflashing TER 1.5. Now I'm back in business.
My problems didn't start until I flashed that HACK Paul's 1.7 Mini theme...then the troubles began.

Will try flashing that again later tonight to see if I can get it working without FC's and bricking my phone.
It's interesting how different things work for different phones, my phone didn't become fixed until i downloaded the 1.7 theme. Is there any possible way to get the old Voice Mail system back, the one that saved directly to the phone so you didn't have to call in?
Wifi Tether and GPS don't work. Help?
I went through all the steps listed here (I've tried both the "clean" version and the regular version) but neither the wi-fi tethering nor the GPS seem to work for me; I tested out the GPS a couple times, and after 1, 5, and 10 minutes it can't seem to lock on. I had some GPS troubles when I was running stock Eclair, but this seems more consistent.
Also, every attempt I make to open the wi-fi hotspot force closes. I really like the ROM, but I'm a noob so I likely messed something up somewhere along the line. Any idea how I can fix these?

Yeah sometimes that fixes it; the times that I have to reboot are when instead of "Error" it just says "Turning on..." and stays like that indefinitely. In that situation, the WiFi box cannot be checked or unchecked, it's just frozen.

Guys, this is one helluva rom. It beats the snot even out of 1.2, and that's saying a lot. Especially since TER 1.2 restored my faultering love in my device. Enough with the brown-nosing and to more pressing matters...
Oh Great and Wise Ones... Any idea as to why, when I ran the wifi tether "fix" apk, it locked the phone up (<30 secs) and rebooted? After several attempts at the data/cache wipes, the final reboot caused a curious bug. It didn't lose total memory (like the fully drained battery mystery issue) but it seemed to have lost all user settings i.e. all my launcher pro custom changes.
Paul- Love the theme, but I'm wondering if this rogue wifi issue isn't somehow related to the 1.7 theme? I'm recovering back to TER 1.5 original and I'll run the apk that way and report back...

Is this the gingerbread keyboard on v1.5? Thanks!! Now I don't have to manually install this each time.
update to my last: after recovering 1.2, flashing 1.5, wifi tether gave predicted fc result. run last apk supplied by ragnarox, resulting in 1 fc, 1 reboot, now fine, tethered to it now posting from rooted nook. will push 1.7 theme and post results, unless someone beats me to it...
