[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

I was wondering what the differance is in the browser that's in the rom and the stock dk28 browser.

Included browser allows desktop/mobile view in settings, stock browser does not force close when saving pics via long press.

Think I found a bug or maybe it's just my phone.

Widgets disappear when moving an app to SD card.

Noticed this with the following programs today, Pandaora Radio, Audiogalaxy, Where & Evernote.

Started off by looking for the Pandora widget which I used before and it was not in the widget list to add. I opened the program and it worked fine. I then noticed Audiogalaxy's widget was not on the list. I did not think much about it at the time but then Audiogalaxy had an update today and after the update the widget was now back in the list. Now I thought something was strange. I uninstalled Pandora and reinstalled it and the widget was in the list. I added the widget to my home screen, moved the app to the SD card and the widget erased from the home screen and the widget list. Looked down my list of installed programs and realized Where and Evernote were also missing widgets and the common theme was App 2 SD. I did find it interesting the widget reappeared when Audiogalaxys update was installed while the program was already moved to the SD card.

Anyway I am not sure if this is related to the file system change, a DK28 issue I never noticed before or something else, I did not see anyone else mention this and if it has already been covered I apologize.

What if you create the widget after moving the app to your SD card?

Hi all -
I'm pretty new. I've been reading about rooting the phones for a while now (before I even had one). But just reading.
I followed the advice from post 303 as directed by OP and the entire thing took me about 1hr. I had thought I'd rooted my phone by updating to Froyo 2.2 but then realized it wasn't truly rooted.
Now I'm off to re-install all my apps, but from the look and feel, things are much better with this.
I like the smiley face to @ replacement. I don't smile in texts!
Now to overclock it!

Thats okay... No I personally haven't run my phone down that low to see if there's any issues with the battery being low and causing FC's. Honestly TrulyEpic Rebirth and the original TrulyEpic are solid performers and never give me any troubles. I only had 1 or 2 FC's during testing for Ragnarokx in the Beta version.

then have i done something wrong?.. I mean everytime i reflash the ROM i clear all the options that its given to me in installing 1.2.
Then i just install my backedup app's and a few addons that i wanted as well as the theme 1.5 you made, after this, i setup beatifulwidjet weather thing, then i just restart the phone, and POW, problems FC the widget, and it gives me the " you gotta remove this widget for the update please hold and drag to the trashcan and redo" im like.. there is no update for this and its telling me that, as well as i have that music player forgot the name currently,as a widget, and that also FC's and dissapears from the screen :/, and then the scanner runs twice for some odd reason, so there is a lag before the first 4 icons show up in the home menu. without installing the addons at first, its fast as fk!, but after i add my addons mainly the Mini theme 1.5, Froyo Email(since GalaxyTab doesn't show my emails for some reason), then Sprint VoiceMail( I wont install the SMSBubbleChatfix thing) and the bonzai font(wich is nice looking) after this, well the phone after a full charge, i update the googlemap, flash, and the market itselfupdates, as well as it downloads the apps i got, i do this on wifi that way its faster, but this ate half of my batteries while i did it on my way to work, because the phone get messing up, so i did a Reflash of the ROM on my way to work lol.
So is there something im doing wrong or anything? as well i dont think it was answered, when i flash the DK28 Modem, i don't have to reflash it again after a Rom installation do i? Thanks paul!

Glad your enjoying the rooting experience. Unfortunately you can't overclock Froyo yet because they haven't released the source code to allow custom kernels to be made which allow overclocking.

No you don't have to reinstall the DK28 modem after reflashing a ROM. As for your FC issues I would slowly go one at a time installing and rebooting and see when you start having these FC issues starting. Try to isolate the add on giving you the trouble and then we can attempt to come up with a solution for you.

Thanks man! I'll keep you updated it!

Then i just install my backedup app's

If I were a betting man I'd bet this is your problem. If you reflash the ROM, don't restore any backups and test it out to see if you still have the same problems.

If not restoring your backup fixes these problems, then take Paul's advice and one-by-one restore/reinstall what you need until you figure out the culprit.

well the backups apps i have are the .apk's i had backed up with AstroFileManager, not from a rombackup if thats what you meant, im still new to this whole thing lol sorry.

but yes, im going to try this out and see if one of them is the culprit.
now when testing this, do i go one by one? and unistall the one that isn't at fault, or keep them in the system while i keep testing the ones im installing?
Sorry if my grammar confuses you, but what i mean in one basic term is " Install .apk(enable widget if any,Restart, if it worked normal) then should i keep it or remove it before i go with the next one?
ty Rag! and Paul!

I would start by reflashing the ROM (and wiping right before of course). Then before you do anything, play around with the phone. See if the problems you're having are still present.

If your phone seems fine, install 1 app and play around some more. If everything is still fine, install the next app and play around. No need to uninstall anything - just install your apps one by one until you see something go wrong, and then you'll know what the problem is.

What if you create the widget after moving the app to your SD card?

Not possible, if I install say Pandora as soon as I move the app to SD the widget disappears from the path: menu > add > widgets

The app still works fine, just no widget. Also if I install the app and don't move the program to SD the widget works fine too.

As I mentioned earlier, another program Audiogalaxy (which lost the widget when moving to SD) so happened to receive an update tonight and after installing the update the widget reappeared. I am certain if I uninstalled Audiogalaxy and then reinstalled it as soon as I move the app to SD the widget will be gone.

Also found another small issue: Sprint Football Live & Nascar are not working, both give an error message which says they are only available for Sprint and Nextel users. Sprint Nav & TV both work fine and Hotspot seems like it will work.

overclocking trulyepic?

Ok got tired of waiting for 2.2 official from sprint so spent the better part of the day on this. One click modded to trulyepic then spent quite a while fixing radio then fixed gps and restored backups with titanium. Along with downloading adwlauncher two days ago its like I have a whole new phone. Now I am just wondering about how to overclock my Epic. I downloaded set cpu but it only goes to 1ghz.

Not possible yet in Froyo. They haven't released the source code so no custom kernels can be made to allow overclocking. Sorry.

Request/issues for Trully Epic rom

I have been using this rom extensively and would like a few additions. A file manager... Samsungs stock would be fine but I dont want the icon docks or app drawer. Also I would like the samsung widgets and task manager widget minus full blow touchwiz. I would also like the pinvh to zoom home screen. Knownbugs the start up boot screen lags on the Galaxy S and stutters and freezes. Speedtest.net cannot find location. And internet pages reload during scrolling on stock browser im currently typing this and using skyfire on the Epic. Btw great rom its really smooth and other then the problems I stated its awesome.

Are you happy Ragnarokx??? I told you it'd be your fault. I'm finally rooted thanks to you. :-P

Does anyone have tips on how to properly get yahoo to play nice with the galaxy tab email app? I love how it works- but it won't display my messages!

Google account works fine in it.

I thought I could sign into appbrain and redownload all my apps- but it's giving me whats on my now wiped phone? I didn't say to sync... any help would be appreciated.

hmm i did what you said, Install mess abit around, then restarted with the widgets on. and currently, things are fine, possibly my app backups got corrupted?... not sure possibility maybe? Though when i first start after i installed a few free apps from the market place, the sdcard scanner starts running, but the phone is on its homepage but without icons at all can't really scroll through the extra windows ect.. its like frozen, then after the scanner stops running then everything loads up right after the scanner stops. Should it be this way?

I appreciate your reply but there's got to be a way to get that working. I fail to believe it's not fixable.

I have been using the yahoo android app until now.

Still haven't gotten the yahoo mail working as well as before but I can get email to show up and send out. It's just not automatically updating (i.e. push) and reflecting read/unread email from the main account. But try this to see if it works better for you.

First make sure the wifi is off (not sure why but this is how I got it to work). To add the account, go to add accouts, enter your username & password, then manual settings. Next click IMAP, then add for the server settings:

Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) -> pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) -> smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)

FYI, I do have hotmail (yes hotmail) and Zimbra accounts working perfectly.

Here is another set of Yahoo, I use sbc global, settings that work. I spent hours, on phone with Advanced Tech support, trying to get my email to work, do not like the Yahoo program because I do not want push mail. Had an Evo before this, worked fine, so tried its settings - works flawlessly for me.

I use K-9 -these settings would not work on this rom for me, so still use K-9 which is so customizable

Go to settings, enter beginning email info and then choose Manual, next won't work.
I use Imap, different than above

Incoming Server
Your use name
Your pass word
Imap server - android.imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port 993
Securirty SSL
Leave Imap path prefis as optional

Click next, it goes to outgoing

SMTP Server - android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 465
Security Type SSL
check require sign-in
User name
passord, hit next

It checks and works for me. I used this setup on Eclair, DK28, but for some reason stock email on Yahoo didn't work, so went back to K-9.

So feedback from yahoo, sbc people might help to see what one works or is best.:)

power button not putting device to sleep

My power button is now acting like a back button. If I hold it down I can shut it off but a short
Press is no longer putting it to sleep. I'm not sure if I changed any settings. Any suggestions?
