[ROM] TrulyEpic Rebirth v1.5 AC - no planned EB13 update :'(

You can tether your phone to your laptop wireless using Wireless Tether for Root Users v2.0.6, located in the Market.

Sprint Hotspot app, yes as far as I know this is still a paid usage application.

btw paul, if you wanna use Wired-tether, can i use that one too? or can you suggest a different app?
thank you for the thanks paul! :D

Good job. I'm really starting to believe many of these problems come back to people using different launchers as you pointed out.

Home switcher or equivalent app is an excellent choice for supporting multiple launchers.

Wireless Tether is simply as it states, wireless. There are quite a few other apps in the Market if you search "Tether". Looks like many of them don't even require root access. I have not tried any wired tethering, sorry.

Hey man! :)
I think i know what you're having with your LauncherPRo FC'ng, possibly it was the same thing that was going with me too when i first installed it, and Data Reset? what do you mean? Like, is it when you gotta input all your information once again after you Poke the LIl green android when you first bootup your phone? then yep i've gotten this too, but about the FC'ng LauncherPro

Unistall it( if you already have done so) go to the market, search Home Switcher for Froyo, install, then LauncherPro install it as well :).
Open HomeSwitcher and delete all defaults then Choose LauncherPro

now after this you're welcome to restart the phone, and no more FC'ng LauncherPro :)

thats the only way i resolved this problem i was having with it,and if the Data Reset is how i think i explained it above, then that will also not happen if you follow this direction.

I don't see why it FC's but This will resolve the problem you got it with.

Hey Kikoshi,
Thanks for the information. Yeah I did have to start back at the little green android and sign back into my google account. However, I'm still not sure if Launcher pro was the problem to all the resetting since it's so far reset once since I uninstalled launcher pro and also I'd been using launcher pro for a couple of weeks prior to any problems. But this is definitely worth a try. I'll let you know if this works. Thanks again!

Your welcome man, and do let us know.

I am fairly new to rooting and using different ROMs etc. I do not have a ton of experience, but I must say that this ROM is as close to perfect as I have seen. Only issue's I had were GPS and VVM showing up in sms, but I followed the troubling shooting and now have no issues to report. My phone now runs fast and smooth.

This is how it should have been out of the box! (Where's the fun in that)

Hey Samsung....keep screwing things up on your future phones. That way the developers and I can have some fun improving it!

The rooting bug has bitten me. I'm hooked.

Have you installed the bubble messaging app on the first post? It will stop the messages from VM going to SMS. I'm not sure about gps but I would guess it stops that too.

Just to update from my previous posts, after all the resetting, I was having all sort of other issues with multiple programs not working (force closing despite clearing data/cache/defaults) so I simply went ahead and odin'd back to stock eclair, then flashed froyo/clockwork/TER. I also reformatted the new SD card so I'm basically starting from scratch. So far everything is great again! Oh and added Home Switcher since using launcher pro again.

I wanted to start off saying this forum ROCKs, I am new to Android and being able to root and load a custom ROM has been made so easy because of you guys. I do have a rookie questions. It was stated you should not load any apps from your backup, My question is how do I restore apps that I have paid for and want to load on this ROM. Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I was guessing that I could install the app by using the apk file.

First make sure you are using the same Google account now that you used when you purchased the apps.

You can verify this by going to your Google account online and going to your checkout to view apps purchased.

Going to the Market and searching for the apps you purchased should allow you to redownload them again if your phone hasn't already redownloaded them for you which they should once you signed into Google in the new ROM.

The Android Market remembers which apps you paid for.
Do this and you can get your paid apps.
1) Open Android Market.
2) Press Menu
3) Press My Apps/My Downloads
4) You will see a list of your paid apps that you can re-download for free.

EDIT: I was too slow, lol. Sorry. Paul627g beat me to it.

I just flashed to TER last week using the excellent instructions from the first post. Everything went perfectly as far as I can tell and the Epic worked just fine. However, something seems to have changed yesterday. The ringtones, apps such as Pandora and even the system 'clicks' now only play through the earpiece on the phone (not bluetooth) instead of through the speaker on the back. As a result, it's very hard to hear my phone ring when its in my pocket and movies, videos, music etc. are all hard to hear as well. Has this happened to anyone else and is there a fix? TIA

Wow I'm the only one who has encountered this issue?! Amazing... :(

By any chance do you use your headset jack on your phone? I've done a bit of researching on this and it sounds like this could be related. Something could be wrong with the headset jack causing all sounds to be transfered to the earpiece.

I would try doing a complete backup in CMW, backup all your personal data like contacts, etc with MyBackup. Go into CWM and wipe everything 3x and try flashing TER again and see if it fixes things.

If it does, great.. Maybe just a random bug/glitch. If you still have no sound then I would try to Odin back to stock (this will reset any possible overlooked settings/changes) and if that doesn't resolve it going back to factory Eclair then I would bet you have a hardware defect.

Edit/Update: I have even read there is a possibility of your external speaker being "blown" or gone dead for whatever reason and the system has diverted all sounds threw the earpiece. (This has happened on Droids from some searches I've done. Not sure how relevant this is to the Epic but anything is possible)

Just installed this ROM and I am impressed! Great work.

I was using the leaked 2.2 DK28 ROM and was having force quit problems with the calendar and e-mail. Probably 25-30 times a day. So I took the plunge and rooted.

Glad I did. This ROM is fast and clean. Kudos.

Oh and the best part? Getting rid of that god awful Samsung e-mail client. The black and blue is just plain ugly.

I know they probably did it to help with battery life since the blacks are better on the AMOLED, but you have the draw the line somewhere.

I have experienced this, don't think its happened on TER, but on DK28 I had all the sound coming through the earpiece a few times. A reboot solved the issue for me. I think this happened after using the headphones, but did not happen al the time.

I've never used the headset jack on the phone.

I will do the 3x wipe. Like you say it's probably just a random glitch. As mobius mentioned, a reboot resolves the problem temporarily, but it is a recurring issue.
