[ROM] VCRom v007

Also, I get this error (?) when I try and wipe the Dalvik Chache

E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblok0p2 (no such file or directory)

Not sure if thats normal or not.

Yeah I think that is a2sd related

I really don't know where the problem comes from because I have tried to replicate this to no end and have yet to been able to even with a clean /system /data /cache /sdcard

I formated all of the above and now the market is working. I had done system and data before. I also took the sdcard out when trying to install apps. So, must of been the cache?

could be. i'm noticing some incompatibilities between the new and old framework.

Boot Loop

I started out with a clean VC and ran that for a for a few hours with no problems. Decided to give your VCROM 007 a try, but first made a nandroid. Did a wipe data/cache/davlik, flashed rom, and rebooted. Came up fine, but then tried to download/install MyBackup from market, but locked up. Same result 2 more times. Now I can't even get it to boot, I am stuck at the LG icon. I can't boot to recover and haven't been able to adb logcat or adb shell; I am getting the messages "waiting for device" or "error: device not found" respectively. I am at a complete loss. Hope you can help.

well thats not good

stuck at the lg icon is a brick. you won't be able to adb anything as the usb is not turned on at this point in the boot. if you can't get into recovery, time to call sprint or swing by a corp store that has repair so they can order you a new one.

have the exact steps taken prior to bricking?

I'm back!!!!!!! The key was removing the battery and the sd card, then letting it sit for a few minutes. Then without the sd card, phone would boot. Not sure if it really helped, but then I made a backup of the sd card on my computer, formatted the card in the phone, copied my backup to the sd card, then booted to recovery where I did a nandroid restore. Thank goodness I decided to nandroid backup after my upgrade to VC then rooting and custom recovery this morning.

I should also add that once I could reboot without the sd card, with the newly formatted and backed up sd card, I tried again to download/install something from market using VCROM 007 before the nandroid restore. Same behavior as before; e.g. phone locked up and even after pulling battery, while leaving sd card in, I was stuck at the lg logo.

For me, at least, there is something seriously wrong with this ROM in terms of the marketplace and downloading/installing apps.

weird...I had this scary brick mode thing going on today as well, but mine was before I managed to get VCRom installed. Mine seemed to be related to jacked up recovery. VCRom required a full wipe for me (tried cache and dalvik at first, but boot looped), but it is running great now. No problems with the market.

Did you do a straight V007 install, or did you get to V007 through an earlier version?

zefie

In one of your posts you had a link to all the cab files for the phone
would you please post that again, also anyway of posting the extracted
files from the stock un moded VC update. cant seem to find a good guide on extracting the wdb from it.

I'm trying to build a stock theme, I would like to be able to flash the stock Sprint theme over any of your striped roms.

Just updated to V007. Brick.

Had the custom recovery boot cycle issue. Fixed the issue using Zefie's method, then rebooted. Went through normal boot up motions, got to the nexus boot screen, it ran through the animation for a long time (about 5 minutes) and I thought it may just be a long boot after flash from Dalvik getting cleared. Then it locked up on the boot animation. I let it sit for about 10 minutes and it did nothing. Did a battery pull, then brick. I tried the method above by pulling battery, letting it sit for about 10 minutes, booting without the SD installed, but it is still just a paperweight. Guess I'm going to Sprint in the morning. :(

I can confirm this issue. Successfully updated to VC, rooted, made a nandroid, performed a wiped data, cache, and dalvik, and then installed VCRom 007. (Performed the nandroid, wipes, and update to VCRom in the same recovery session).

Phone rebooted normally, went to install Titanium Backup, saw Chrome to Phone, hit that for install and then searched for Titanium. Phone locked up.

Battery removed, power-cycled and stuck at LG Screen.

Will try your method of letting it sit without the battery. So far the wife doesn't know what happens, but she'll be damn pissed if I fubar'd my phone...

If all else fails, I'll try the unbricking method in that one post.

When you are stuck at that LG screen, does any of the adb commands work while the USB cable is connected? Such as adb reboot recovery, adb shell, adb reboot, etc?

ADB commands do not work. States that the device is not connected. So frustrating! :'(
