[ROM][WIP][4.4.2] CyanogenMod 11 KitKat for Optimus S/V

Skinbark: Is the OP's list of things that don't work up-to-date and do you plan to update that list as things get fixed? I'd like to just be able to check the OP periodically to see if the showstopper-for-me bugs (like no-Bluetooth) are fixed so that I know when it's time to take the plunge.

The OS2SD experiment is continuing but no longer has a dedicated build (to difficult to maintain separate builds.) As far as space for apps goes just make an sd-ext partition and use something like mounts2sd. If you need help with getting that set up just pm me, I'll be happy to assist you. I may write up a tutorial on that also.

as far as stripping languages, the msm7x27-common stuff sets a bunch of locales which adds the languages.
add
PRODUCT_LOCALES := en_US
to the end of your cm.mk to override the default and get rid of the language pack.
I think. It gets rid of the language list in the build output when it says 'overlay changed' in a dirty rebuild.

Hello and thanks for all the work that you developers have given us. I consider myself a 50 year old newbie. I rooted and installed a few ROMs more than a year ago. Stuck with DanteROM (awesome) and now I want to see what is new. Do you users now consider this ROM stable for daily use? I am trying to decide between BeanWhiz and this. I've read all 18 pages (not in one sitting) and will probably reread before making the switch. I have two Sprint LS670s. Both are ZVJ. I don't use one of them and will install on the unused one first for testing. I've read the what works and what doesn't and I'm ok with all of it (I wish MMS worked but it doesn't for me right now anyway.)

If I use this ROM is there anything you'd like for me to document or test along the way?

clock lag, mms, Bluetooth, and native wifi tether are all i know of that would possibly stop this being a daily driver.
think I was the first to have issues from the clock lag, messed up a work alarm. That kills it for me, on the dev phone only until either the clock or bluetooth get fixed.
Documentation? just post glitches, details as specific as possible. capturing logcat and dmesg help define them for fixing.

I uploaded a new build:
cm-11-20140116-thunderc-skinbark.zip (link in OP)
Not much new, incorporates wifi password, play store app installation and button backlight fixes, along with small upstream fixes. This one will install on Sprint phones without modification. Hacker's keyboard is the default because it's 1/2 the size of AOSP keyboard and I like it better. AOSP keyboard is in the /extras folder inside the zip along with other apps and ringtones.

...ahhh, smurf. I think I'm gonna have to just wipe and start over. Downloaded the new version of this, made my backup, and dirty flashed this. Play Store works now (FINALLY!!!), but ALL my other apps that I had on this thing got mysteriously wiped out. And it had the same initial problems as before - Menu button wouldn't work until a keyboard was installed, (Hacker's Keyboard doesn't seem to be on here as is), and File Manager can't go into zip folders. (But since Play Store finally works, retrieving my apps shouldn't be too big a problem...I hope.)

And the stock video player in Gallery still doesn't half work: it not only doesn't produce thumbnails of the video files, it also more often than not WON'T play anything the first time it's selected. In some cases, I've had to tap a vid multiple times before it would finally work, in others, it wouldn't work no matter what. Clock lag seems to have gotten even worse today...but that seems to only happen under one of three circumstances: the phone is plugged & charging (not really bad, but still quite noticeable), or it's connected to Wi-Fi (pretty noticeably bad), or BOTH (worst-case, I've seen it fall as far as three hours behind).

thekraven mentioned clock lag caused by lowest clock setting on cpu.
beta5 kernel out with minimum default clock speed up one notch.

OKay...wiped and started over. Seems lovely!! Video player still barely works, get an app.

Apps still have a habit of disappearing from the home screen if the phone is rebooted for any reason.

Speed seems a bit slower than before, especially on Wi-Fi.

Wiped and started all the way over, ZV9. Says Unknown Baseband, whatever. I can make calls, send/receive MMS/SMS. What's bugging me is data, I have all the correct APNs in, 1X or 3G pops up occasionally, then goes away. Hm...somethin's gone a-wrong on my phone. Is it because said baseband is unknown? Data works fine on other ROMs.

you have mms? zv9 was a sprint baseband number before they started moving up. I think zv7 had fastboot on sprint... it was a rumor. Are you on Sprint service? I never know because this is the Sprint side of the forum, but with no activity on the V side, V users hang out over here. Like me.
I will have to check that out, if you're on Virgin. I have a spare phone. It has a really weak mic... but my daily driver is zv4 and I like fastboot. I won't update it in case something goes wrong and I can't revert. I trashed one phone already... paperweight. won't even light up the buttons anymore, much less boot to backlight and lg or emergency or anything.

Mine is zv9, I'd test the MMS for you but I haven't had the money to pay my bill. :o I'll see what I can do and get back to you on this...

I have access to zv9 phone, just haven't done it yet :p
I'm 99.9% sure it won't work on VM. I'd enjoy being wrong, though.

//edit: my zv9 phone just hangs on sending mms.

Just to let you know I turned it into a Optimus C and MMS worked when I edited the APN file. :o Cricket proxies their MMS, so I had to put in the phone number of my account, then it worked. Also, when I entered the testing app, I can actually select which radio band to use. I select PCS (Success), I get roaming. Cellular also works, though I only get 1X for a few seconds. Odd. I already replaced eri.xml and the build.prop Virgin Mobile ro.cdma/ro.gsm properties.

I get an error about the APN in logcat trying to send mms, too.

What is the default pixel density of this? I had to switch back to GB (temporarily) and noticed a huge difference...
