This post is to thank the Developers. I am insanely happy with the performance of my phone. After more than a week with this rom I'm officially staying on zvh. Originally I was afraid I would have to give up zvh because of bugginess, but it seems between this rom and drews kernel I am so far bugginess free!

I hope you can accept my gratitude until I can find some scratch to donate your way. Big big thanks!

It really means a lot to me to have a phone that can be trouble free as android should be. The quality of this phone has improved ten fold over the stock version thanks to the devs. Thanks a bunch~!

I followed all the steps in this thread on my phone and everything works great. I did the same for my wife's phone except I forgot to make a recovery backup before I wiped everything and installed the Custom Your Mom ROM. Her phone works fine but I'm just trying to determine how serious my missing that step was.
1) Is there any way to get back to stock since I missed that step if I ever want to?
2) Is returning to stock the reason recovery backups are created or are they just in case something goes wrong flashing a new ROM?

What you can do in your case, is make a good backup now of the rom in good running order. Then if something goes wrong, you can restore that. Furthermore, the zvh stock update.zip is available here in the stickies at the top of the page if you ever need to return fully to stock. Take a look up there at sfhub's rooting guide. You would need to put the stock recovery back on the phone first to flash that update.zip, but he has a handy tool in the post for that too. Enjoy the ROM!

 Everything worked out cherry for me I'am pleased with the over all look and design of this Rom your mom "Rom" only thing is the boot up animation is a bit Bland! :-\ I'm sure i can change to a custome boot up but im still only a beginner at flashing and all that! oooooh quick question how do i go about taking a screen shot with this rom "please let me know ":DASAP"

I finally figured out how to get the standard wi-fi AP (Hot spot) feature in Your Mom Rom to work. As those who have tried before me, when you attempt to turn on the hot spot AP feature, you get an error message. I found some info on the LG Marquee site in a message authored by timf76 that pointed me in the right direction. This is a two step process.

Edit: This is a solution to those wanting to get infrastructure mode wifi hot spot. If you are happy with the ad hoc mode with the provided wireless tether ap keep using it. I did not like the weak WEP encryption of wireless tether in ad hoc mode and had some compatibility issues. This work around gives the same performance of a zhd baseband ROM but with a zvh baseband ROM. Only tried on YOUR MOM ROM V1.1. Your mileage may vary.

2nd Edit: You must have Launcher Pro installed temporarily in order to gain the shortcut->activities feature. Once the short cut is added you can remove Launcher Pro.

Step 1-A -- Disable the DUN NAI function
Long press the home screen to add widget
select "Shortcut"
select "Activities" Note: You will need Launcher Pro (free) installed. You do not need to keep this installed after you create the shortcut.
select "com.lge.LgHiddenMenu" Note: Make sure to pick this one not the other com.lge.hiddenmenu.
select "ServicesLG"
This places a ServicesLG icon on your home screen
Step 1-B
Press "ServicesLG icon
scroll down to "Data Setings" and select it
select "DUN NAI"
select "No"

Step 1-B needs to be done only once each time the phone reboots. It is fairly quick given a short cut next to the AP icon on a home screen.

Step 2 -- Enable the Hotspot Wi-Fi setting
This can be done in the Settings->Wireless & Network Settings->Portable Hotspot
OR
Use one of the many Hotspot widgets in the market to enable; for example "HotSpot Toggle by mehdy bohlol"; some others freeze up the hot spot enable function.

Perhaps one of the developers on HydroRom can flip this setting when it boots or create a simple drop down button or some other hack. Or a custom AP widget that does both functions just for this family of ROMs. Take note that the hidden LG menu structure is different in various roms.

And thanks to those members in team hydro for all the hard work.

Confirmed this works on HydroROM with Harald Muller's Hotspot Widget. Nicely done, amobley0, thank you!

This may work but only if you have a launcher that supports adding activities to the Homescreen. The launcher included with HydroROM does not support it, but LauncherPro does.

Using HydroROM Beta 1, I am not able to get it working using either the built-in Hotspot setting nor am I able to get the Hotspot Widget by Harold Muller to work.

It's going to take more than a simple setting, I'm afraid.

EDIT: Using the latest beta of Wifi Tether for Root Users yields similar results in both Softap mode and Netd mode. Netd mode appears to enable the Hotspot tethering (and the native notification DOES appear) but no wifi networks can be found on any of my computers. Turning it off results in a system reboot. Softap mode says it's working but there is no notification and no network appears.

Drew, I'm on Hydro rom and I followed the steps in post above yours and it worked for me. However, the widget would not work so I dumped it and turned on Hotspot from phone settings. I checked it with my laptop to see how fast. My laptop found my phone and connected. (wpa2psk) I don't know why it worked just thought you might like to look into why it works on some and not others.

Edit, sorry got turned around didn't realise post was a week ago. I'm sure you've fixed it and that's why it works . Lol

Dude that is awesome:cool::cool::cool:
I have YMR V1.0:eek::eek:
and now have active hot spot running right now:D:D:D

That's really cool. Thanks for validating my work. So, back to my original request, perhaps someone on Team Hydro can make a single button Hotspot feature that will both toggle this internal state and then flip the hot spot feature on. I would probably move from YMR to HydroRom if that was added.

no didn't wipe, if i wipe will i lose all my apps contacts etc? if so how do i backup that info? literally started this rooting stuff 3 days ago because i was fed up with phone issues.

Your contacts should be synced with your Google account, so you won't lose those. For the apps, app settings, etc., download Titanium backup and use that to back up your apps, settings, and data to the SD card. Then fully wipe and reinstall the ROM, download Titanium backup from the market again, and then restore your data.

Often it is safer/cleaner to redownload/reinstall your apps from the market and just restore your app data/settings using Titanium.

so basically

1. backup w/ tiatnium
2. wipe phone
3. re-root?
4. re-rom
5. kernel
6.re-download titanium

Hello,
I have a quick question, if I sell this phone with it rooted and with "your mom" on it, will the person be able to activate it without issue? I think the answer is yes, but wanted to confirm. I know to wipe data, sd,etc. Just wanted to avoid issues by checking. Thanks!

I believe it should since it's based on stock so should have the required functions to do Profile Updates etc.

Don't quote me on this as I haven't tried it but from my previous experience on the Hero it would work as long as the rom is based on STOCK and not a complete recompile like CyanogenMod.

The only issue is the phone will still have your account data in the phone that is only removed with a special dialer code that can only be performed with stock recovery on the phone. If this is someone you do not know, I would be hesitant on on selling without removing that data
