I finally rooted my phone successfully, the tutorials really helped me. I am running DamageControl v2.06 from damageless, so much faster then 1.5. I haven't figured out how to get the live wallpapers to work yet, it may be disabled in this build, but I am very happy with it overall :-)

You can't run them with Sense. You can run them with that ROM, but it involves some more work.

You need live wallpapers.apk and live wallpaper picker.apk
You need to download some from the market
You need to go into settings, applications, manage applications, htc sense, clear defaults
exit
it will ask you which home you want to use, select HOME
long press background, wallpapers, live wallpapers, and select one (not all are compatible) set as wallpaper
There is an HTC sense live wallpaper as seen on some other phones coming out, but to my knowledge, they haven't been ported over yet.

Awesome, thanks for the info rufflez :-) I will go search for them, if I cant find them, I will see what thee official patch holds for us when it comes out, if I don't like it, its root time once again :-)

Damage just updated to 2.0.7 you can now run LWP with Sense.

Forgot my UN/PW here so I created a new account, but I stick around XDA most of the time.

Yeah, I saw that today. I'm tempted to "try" but I'm really liking my current setup. You have to giveup the weather widget.

I find myself not really using the weather widget, I think live wallpapers are awesome, do you know if the google earth app will work? Or if it will run on our heros at all?

I added you to my contacts here on the forums rufflez, you have been a tremendious help, I am also dl'ing the latest DC, going to give it a try :-) I wonder if the updater will automatically install it or not, we shalll see, after I download this 97mb file through my phone...LOL

Google Earth won't work...as of yet... until someone hacks it to.

It requires an Arm7 processor or higher - Currently only Nexus, Droid, and *gag* Iphone

Specs needed are pretty high.
Supported Devices
Nexus One and Droid (utilizing 2.1 or later)
ARMv7 instruction set

SD Memory Card
211 MB Minimum

On Device Memory
35 MB Minimum Free System Memory

Ok, just flashed my phone with the latest DC ROM from damageless, the live wallpaper option is worth not having a weather widget :-) Something I have noticed though is they don't like to be closed at times, but its all good, my hero is flying through space right now :-)

I need help with the hack or root i think its called, i just want the 2.1 with LWP .,,,,, can someone please help

whats your XDA forum name? I will look you up, mines the same as the one here :-)
Same as on here Kcarpenter. :D

my phone is rooted but can anyone tell my how i would go about putting this rom on my hero thanks
To load it on your phone DL the ZIP and follow the instructions in the Wiki for loading a rom (in the how to root guides I think) link is below.

@Air and @E.2da
Go HERE and read about rooting and flashing roms.
Roms are simple to flash once you have a custom recovery image.
(Put the zip on the SDCard, boot into recovery, flash zip from SD, reboot)
Becareful, this can brick your phone, follow all dev instructions to the T and you will be OK. Some ROM's require a wipe.

On a side note, I can't believe with such a low post count I can post links here.....
