Rooting after official froyo

I've about had it up to HERE with trying to re-root after the OTA Froyo update. I was trying it at work today, but the GD antivirus was killing the rage file, and I couldn't figure out which files I needed to ODIN it. So, for the past hour and a half at home, I found the files I need to Odin. I download them and try to extract with Winrar but Winrar is saying there's nothing there. I try the one click method and it's not pushing the dang files to my phone before the first reboot. Any suggestions you guys have before I throw this dang phone out the window would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm honestly starting to think my phone is now un-rootable.

*facepalm*

I did actually try that one earlier at work as well but must've rushed it and missed a step because it didn't work.

Forgot about trying it this time. Of course it worked perfectly.

Thanks Pikanate :D

1-Click Root after doing Froyo update?

Is it safe to assume that the 1 Click Root method I used to gain root access to de-BING and de-bloat my Fascinate before will no longer work after doing the Froyo update?

The manual ADB method isn't that bad if you don't mind typing or copy/pasting the commands.

Here's a link with a post from DroidXcon that has the manual method, along with a couple others:

If this has already been discussed, I apologize.

Does anyone know if the ability to root using a MAC is the same after the froyo update.

The only computer I have access to is my macbook which I used to successfully used to root prior to froyo.

Thanks in advance.

2.2 update and re-root hesitation

Hello everyone,

I'm hoping one of you can help me out with pre-information. I have Fascinate that I've rooted and is running 2.1 I want to run the verizon update to 2.2 and re-root it. So a few questions:

1) Should I un-root it before I run the 2.2 update?

2) What is the easiest way of re-rooting it after the update?

I saw the superOneclick root, but I'm not sure if that will work in this instance. Any information you brilliant people can give me would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

updating to 2.2

I was rooted and running 2.1. I used a ODIN package to flash to 2.2. I didn't have to unroot first and everything went fine. I think using the ODIN packages are the easiest way.

I'd like to use the Verizon official update (going through system update) to make sure I have everything installed properly. My question is more about re-rooting. Previously I used the Fascinate_root method using ADB and a quick root. I'm guessing that's not going to work if I try it again on 2.2?

I believe I heard that the method of One Click Root with ADB used before has worked for somebody else. I remember reading that in a post.

I however never used it. I downloaded and ran the Stock DL09 Odin package to set my phone back to stock and then let the OTA bring me up to ED01 2.2 from Verizon.

After this I used ODIN to flash CWM 30 All and used the three button method to load into recover after installing the battery.

From here I had the Kangbang ROM 1.0 on my SD Card. I made sure that DBData and Data were mounted and I did a fix permissions. Then I wiped data, Cache and Davlik. From here I flashed Kangbang 1.0 and set Voodoo options for Lagfix.

Booted phone and had Kangbang 1.0 with root. This is a very clean package that runs great.

I am really hesitant to do rooting on Verizon anymore. Now that they are considering throttling or even blocking rooted phones

There is no way unless they physically have the phone in their hands that they can tell if you are rooted. The method mentioned previously was anyone who doesn't accept the OTA must be rooted. Easy answer, "Nope, I just like my phone the way it is set up and running right now and don't want it changed."

Odin root

I know people have posted trying to root with the OTA froyo and so far it cannot be done with the "one click root: method. I have seen a few posts in this thread rooting with ODIN. I just did it and my phone is not rooted and working fine. i found the link here.

[How To] Root ED01 Froyo Fascinate
