Nice try, but not quite. It's gone and unless they make a compact adapter that allows for charging and audio without the ridiculous dongles, then it is time to go full Bluetooth

I think that there are some things that warrant using headphones. I don't think that the discord app allows for Bluetooth yet.

I do agree with you completely about the iris scanner and fps.

I thought the in screen FPS was pretty advanced being 3d?
Yes the one on the Note 9 seems to be faster unlocking but isn't the one on the Note 10 just as or even more secure?

For me, it's about comfort. The rear fps is perfectly placed so that I just have to hold my phone in my hand and unlock it.

My experience with front fps has always ended up with either having to use my phone with two hands or uncomfortably twisting my hands around.

Saying it's still there but not integrated is like saying the Pixel phones have expandable storage because you can buy a thumb drive and OTG cable for it. People wanting those features (that were standard, mind you) want them integrated. They don't want to buy the most expensive phones around, only to have it be "incomplete" because it requires making additional purchases and having something else hanging off the phone.

You're not fooling anyone.

Just no longer integrated, it's external. If you have a specific need for a headphone jack, like external speakers, you can still do it. I understand you can't charge via the USB-C port while doing this but with a large battery it shouldn't be an issue. Or use a wireless charger. If you jog with wired headphones you're still good. If you work at a desk you're still good, just charge with a Qi charger.

Lol in the coming years they'll be like yeah we took your charging port but hey you can still use wireless charging, so we didn't really take anything away!

If you had the same opinion when Apple or other companies removed then fine. But if you are just coming up with explanations like this because Samsung did it then nope

I'm of the opinion that I'd rather have the option and not need it than the other way around.

I also agree that the jack is gone. If the dongle is lost, then you have lost the ability to use a standard pair of headphones until it's replaced.

Generally, that's me as well.

As for this topic, I just look at like an evolution. Much like moving from one USB standard to another. It just happens to be sharing the same price as the charging port. For charging and listening to music concurrently, one could just buy a dual port adapter... Assuming it works.

And if your headphones are lost you can't use the either. There isn't anything special about the single. Keep it on your headphones, problem solved.

I'm thinking for those who plug into the audio jack for car audio, with the right adapter, it would simplify charging and playing music into one plug. Ideally the USB C end would be long enough to hide the split out of sight.

As for Bluetooth, lag is a function of the quality of components they use on the speaker end. And that may be a cost decision made based on how a product would be used. In a car, having a slight delay in audio is generally not a big deal. You shouldn't be watching video as a driver. My car has a slight lag. It's never a problem for me. My ion block rocker does not lag and would be problematic as it is as I've set it up to be able to do karaoke using YouTube. Any lag would put the lyrics and audio out of sync.

I do use Bluetooth Headphones and truly wireless earbuds so the removal of the port is no loss to me personally.

I see this as one less port to accumulate dust in etc and one less port to get water into.

That said I understand why people want to retain it.

I remember when Apple first removed the port and some YouTube reviewers actually drilled a hole into their iPhone as a tongue in cheek response.

If you’ve invested quite a bit of money into a really good pair of wired earphones/headphones that need the 3.5mm connector, your best/cheapest option is to buy a 3.5mm to USB-C dongle.

If you’re not an audiophile but just want a decent pair of earphones/headphones which are reasonably comfortable then Samsung’s AKG USB-C earphones in the Note 10 box will suit you just fine because their quality is pretty good (not great, but good for an in-box set).

If you want the most convenient and future-proof earphones then I would go for Bluetooth. The best cost $100+ but it is quite easy to get a decent pair of Bluetooth earphones/headphones for around $30. Just don’t expect an extremely long battery life or fast charging.
