[RUU] 4-18-2011 | New Rom + Radio 1.16.00.402 FIXES!

The funny thing is if you wait for the "Official VZW OTA" you are behind the curve. There is already a rom that has these updates today and it will take VZW at least a month if not two to push this out. So while you are sitting there with a buggy gps and horrid video recording volumes, the rest of us are moving up and happy with our updates... This is why I rooted my DInc last year in the first place and got hooked on hacking. If you are motivated enough you'll figure it out. I did.

Yup

And sometimes they slip something in to ota updates to try to keep you from rooting.

well i was able to root my phone with coreys help but this other technical stuff there talking about i have no clue its way over my head! i'll go back and read it more carefully and see if i can figure it out though. thanks

p.s. if theres a step by step process like coreys root process i probablly would try it.

Take it one step at a time. After i rooted my first android phone (an incredible), i learned how to flash roms, kernels, and radios, make and manage my backups, and troubleshoot when i got myself into minor trouble. Then over some time i got into other stuff.

There are walkthru's for most everything, check out the stickies, Cyber warrior wrote a great one for How to Backup, Restore & Install ROMs on The Thunderbolt - that will get you started.

I love this stock Rom , 100% better than before

True that

with 1.4 i generally had no more than 234 free memory, but since installing 1.5 i have more like 324 available. Not sure if this is actually affecting performance but it's nice to see.

I know how to get into hboot, but i dont know how to flash a rom from hboot. i have always done it through recovery. anybody wanna give a run through for that?

I tried to find the answer to this so I hope this question does not come off as crazy. The OP says that HBOOT and Recovery were deleted. I am coming from Motorola (which I flashed roms like it was my job...) and Samsung Android devices so I am unfamiliar with HBOOT, but I do know what the recovery menu is. So my question is this...Why are they removed and also since recovery is removed, do i just use CWM in its place? I was a little confused to this and hope someone can explain this to me a little easier than what I have found. I plan on flashing this, I just would like to get this cleared up before I do this. Thanks ahead of time!!!

hboot

Booth is easy..... all you have to do after downloading and renaming the file is move the file to the root of your sd card... then reboot your phone into bootloader..... once in bootloader the phone automatically starts the flash... as long as you renamed it correctly. All you have to do from there is press the volume up key to start the upgrade... then sit back and wait.... then when it asks to reboot .... do it... then enjoy!!!!

if your rooted you are s-off, if you dont know what rooting is or your not rooted then you have s-on

Hboot is just the bone dry bootloader.

To enter hboot power off device and then hold volume down and power.

I'm not sure if the battery indicator is working correctly after the Rom and radio update, but my battery indicator has been at 85% for the last 4 hours. And this is with light use. I have checked emails, been on the internet and had a few calls, but still no change in the indicator. I even re-booted just to see if it would go down but it didn't. I do have the 2750 extended though. If this is a true reading of battery power left, then this is a fantastic fix. Anybody else seeing great battery life?

You should recalibrate your battery with this

baseband version

i loaded it to the sd card and it loaded the filed up and then it said checking pg051mg and then it was done. I don't think it completed because my baseband verison is still 1.02.00.0103_2r does that mean it didnt work? I know the originial post said at the top all the verisions would stay the same.

Did you rename it to PG05IMG.zip before you placed it on your SD card?
