[RUU] 4-18-2011 | New Rom + Radio 1.16.00.402 FIXES!

Not a dumb question at all.
Better to ask then make the mistakes I did.

File Size is key. The complete RUU is about 300MB.
The radio only file is about 25MB.

The one i downloaded says 399MB. Which is correct?

I haven't downloaded the entire RUU, but it looks from the download in the Original Post, it is about that size, give or take a little bit.

Check the md5 on it, to make sure it matches with the one that is given.

I assumed it was the one for non-rooted phones and all i had to do was rename it, put it on my SD and do the Hboot thang.

This is all too confusing. Not sure if i want the signed, or unsigned.

Sorry I don't exactly understand what your trying to ask. The md5 is the checksum on the file, its to make sure there is no corruption. For the file that was provided in this thread, that checksum is this: 53e78863b7cc829261b4c6e1b984c20

In order to check it, you'll need to get a utility for windows, or for whatever OS you are running.

In order to install the RUU, you are correct, you will need to put it on the root of your SD Card, and boot into HBoot, and install it as has been described a couple of times here.

Does that answer your question? The goal was to help you figure out if you have the right RUU file.

I think you have me in the right direction. So i believe i have downloaded the correct RUU file. Now i suppose i have to find a utility to check the Md5 or whatever. Am i correct in assuming that booting this RUU file on my phone is the same as a regular OTA fix for my phone, just not the official from Verizon? That's all i want to do.

I thank you for your help!

That is correct. An RUU is basically just the stock upgrade utility. So installing this as is will allow you to have the upgrade on your stock ROM.

Ok so this is what i did. I flashed the RUU to my phone first. Then i wiped and flashed Das BAMF 1.5. Is this ok? What is this i hear about the 25MB file? the RUU file i flashed was 395MB. I have had 2 reboots since loading all this last night. Once last night and once today?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!

The 25MB file is just the radio update that is extracted from the RUU. You are fine if you flashed the entire file. I haven't had any problems with reboots yet so I haven't figured out how to debug them yet. I'll have to defer to someone else. Sorry.

sorry to ask this again but its all kind of confusing to me. is there anyway or is there a sticky somewhere where it shows us step by step process of doing this? the way corey had it when we wanted to root our tb?

+1

Made a thread earlier but maybe this will get some answers. Before the files of the radio were extracted, I took the first original download of the whole RUU and flashed it in bootloader. I restored my backup rom(mikmik 1.3). I get random reboots like 2 or 3 times a day....anything I should do?

Are you looking for a step by step of the process to install the RUU? Or are you looking for something for installing the radio with a custom ROM?

Basically, the one part of Cory's instruction set has you place the PG05IMG.zip file on the root of the SDCard, and then reboot into the bootloader (HBOOT). When you do that it automatically starts the install. That should get you the RUU installed.

Is that helpful, or are you looking for something different?

so when i download the file and rename it and put it on the sdcardi reboot and thats it? that gives me the radio update with the custom rom and all the other updates on it?

Okay makes more sense what you are looking for sorry didn't realize earlier.
The explanation I gave earlier was for flashing the custom radio or the RUU. That is all that will do.

I will send you a private message with a bit more of a step by step process.

I loaded this RUU. One thing I noticed and can't figure out why its occurring is a few of my paid apps (MLB at bat $14.99 and Astro Pro) do not switch over or even show up in the market. I believe my market did update itself. Anybody have an idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't live without my MLB at bat.

First try to install a free app, I've seen it work before where the paid apps would populate after people did that. Not sure why, but its worked.

If that doesn't work try this from xda.
Post 21 explains the process, and post 29 gives a bit more details.

In the future, take a backup of your apps before you flash a new RUU or a new ROM. Use Titanium Backup, or My Backup Pro, either works fine.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did do a backup of my apps with My Backup Pro. When I did the backup the apps were there. I checked under the manage option. after I loaded everything back they seemed to have disappeared. Also, I tried your suggestions. I loaded a free app. No luck. It looks like the link you posted is for root. I'm not rooted.

I'm wondering if the applications haven't caught up to the RUU compatibility wise. What do you all think?

Anyone see any better battery life on their devices after getting the new radio? My blazingly fast first 4g lte phone is on 100% cdma auto (prl) mode until something is fixed with 4g, cause right now i get about 5 hours of idle time with no background updating in 4g mode... it just burns through the battery doing nothing...and this is in the center of a 4g town.

Damn. It sucks that the apps are missing from your backup, I've never seen that happen before. Yeah the link I posted is for root, if you don't have it that won't work.

Are you missing all your paid apps from the market or just some of them?
Either way, I suspect its possible that some of the compatibility hasn't caught up before, but it wouldn't really be something I'd expect.
